  • About the Understanding of Discursive Social Sciences and its Possible Aspects

    This article observes a paradigm shift occurred in several disciplines of social science which
    also differs in theoretical and methodological aspects from science pursuing objectivity. The
    interpretative social sciences primarily focus on the study of meaning and sets texts and talks
    into the centre of understanding. Social facts are taking place in an intersubjective sphere,
    namely among each other. In this paper they are consequently called ‘socially meaningful facts’.
    Therefore, understanding and meaning of these socially meaningful facts can be study without
    snapping social reality by means of different survey techniques, which would also necessarily
    reduce the richness of social meanings.
    In this paper the vote is given for the transition of discourse approach into a paradigm.
    A couple of aspects are introduced in order to make an attempt to prove its scientific significance. On the other hand misunderstandings are also falsified. According to these misconceptions, a
    text-based approach and an actual postmodern scientific scheme is nothing else than a literary
    project, which also denies the pure existence of reality and only considers all previous knowledge
    as relative. Instead of that, this paper states that every single fact of society has meaning which
    is mediated through narratives by the language itself.

  • Equal opportunities and integration in the career choice: The relation between school competences and job market integration

    The competences manifested in the career choice decisions refer to the success of integration
    and equal opportunities. They are able to forecast these social processes in a predictive way. The
    career choice competences connect the individual features and the social scenes, so by analysing
    them already the secondary school age group’s labour market success can be predicted.
    By studying and analysing of the competence fields with the method of revealing the sociological, psychological and pedagogical correlations it is possible to determine the labour market competences of students facing career choice, which determines the success of their social
    integration into the society at a personal level. Career choice plays a connecting part between education at schools and the labour market; therefore it has an important part concerning equal
    opportunities and integration, beyond the effect of qualification. In my study I am describing this
    process via displaying the affected competence fields.

  • Transition from higher education to the IT sector in Cluj-Napoca

    The present paper focuses on those factors that affect transition from higher education to the
    IT sector in Cluj-Napoca, in cases of entrants with informatics, automatization and computer
    technology degree. The results show that transition to the IT market in Cluj-Napoca is primarily
    influenced by the dependency of the local IT market on western IT markets with more central
    positions, followed by the competition for workforce. The first factor: dependency is due to skill
    shortages on the labour market in Cluj-Napoca. Launching new trainings with the involvement
    of other departments at universities, such as design, business, sales, marketing or business
    informatics can reduce dependency according to the representatives of the local institutions of higher education. Transition from higher education to the IT sector for entrants in ClujNapoca is smooth, due to the strong competition for workforce (second factor). Entrants select
    their potential workplace based on the reputation of a workplace, position/projects, team
    and remuneration. Labour shortage is present both in the IT sector and in higher education.
    A long-term solution for reducing labour shortage in both sectors could be provided by creating
    attractive career paths in the academy which would require stronger cooperation between
    companies, state and higher education institutions, according to the representatives of the
    institutions of higher education.

    Kutatásunk során a Covid-19 járvány Nigéria gazdaságára és sportiparára kifejtett hatását elemeztük, a kapcsolódó szakirodalom áttekintésével. Megvizsgáltuk a sportgazdaság Covid-19 járvány alatti helyzetét Európában és az Egyesült Államokban, majd kiemeltük a nigériai speciális viszonyokat. Bár a sportgazdaság nigériai vonatkozásában kevés szakirodalom áll rendelkezésre, több mint 60 tudományos közlemény elemzésére került sor. Ezek alapján megállapításra került, hogy a Covid-19 járvány nemcsak a globális, de a nigériai gazdaságot is negatívan érintette. Ez különösen jelentős volt a sporthoz kapcsolódó direkt és indirekt
    foglalkoztatás területén, tekintettel a nigériai gazdaság egy-szektorú jellegére. Vizsgálataik alapján szerzők javaslatként fogalmazzák meg, hogy figyelembe véve a nigériai társadalom korfáját, jelentős befektetések lennének szükségesek a sportiparba, mely a szektor átalakításával is együtt kellene, hogy járjon.

     

  • Changes in family decision-making and division of labor among weekly families

    The study deals with the transformation of decisions and division of labor within the family by
    processing the results of a qualitative, interviewed study of the target group of weekly workers.
    The study shows how decisions are restructured according to roles within the family and how
    the roles of women and men change as a result of the regular absence of one family member.
    From the point of view of the approach to domestic work, the differences between weekdays and
    weekends, which can be considered as a consequence of weekend, come to the fore. In the course
    of the analysis, we examined whether there was a change in the decision-making processes
    within the family as a result of the weekly (and if so, what areas were affected by the change)
    and whether there was a radical change in the division of family responsibilities as a result of the
    weekend. I present the results on the basis of two dimensions, on the one hand, of the phenomena
    of disposition and decision-making over income, and, on the other hand, of the division of family
    responsibilities and problem-solving.

  • Parents’ school volunteering in the interpretation of teachers in a disadvantaged region of Hungary

    In the international literature, there are many studies dealing with the voluntary work of parents at school, but there is little research on this in Hungary. In our study, we examine the volunteering of parents through the interpretation of teachers in three disadvantaged counties of Hungary, using a qualitative interview method. The research population was the teachers of primary and secondary schools, and the interviewed teachers were selected by multi-stage, stratified sampling. We included 38 interviews in the analysis, in which the voluntary work of the parents appeared. The interviews were analysed by manual and machine hybrid coding. According to our results, teachers also considered participation on request or under pressure as volunteering. “Real” volunteering is hardly present, and parents are less likely to initiate assistance on their own. Parents are typically occasional volunteers, and mostly the members of the parents’ work community participate in regular volunteer work. According to the teachers, the voluntary work of parents is indispensable in the life of the school, so in our opinion it would be important to promote it and to motivate parents to participate more in school life.

    In the environment of 21st century technology, the transformation of information acquisition
    of health care and patients has had an increasing emphasis. Despite the earlier authoritative
    doctor-patient relationship, a need for an equal, cooperation-based communication has emerged
    and there are so many digital healthcare projects to achieve this (Koskova 2015).
    Information acquisition on the internet has allowed patients that based on the increasingly
    available medical information they acquire information about their condition, become part of
    patient communities, ask for second opinions, and become committed helpers of their doctors in
    their disease (Meskó et. al 2017).
    This can be especially true for patients with rare diseases, where a diagnosis might take even
    a decade, the patient needs lifelong condition maintenance and treatment, if it is available. While the proportion of patients with rare diseases is low compared to the whole of society, the number of such patients is approximately 30 million in Europe (EURORDIS), which means patients
    and their relatives need not only a harmonized health care system, but extensive information so
    that they can live with the rare disease with less difficulty.
    The aim of our study was to present the options of information acquisition in the social
    media, focusing on Twitter, via an interdisciplinary and social approach. In this study therefore
    we carried out a Big Data based social media analysis based on #Asthma and #CysticFibrosis
    databases of the Symplur corporation. This study results contain the complete online communication of 7 years (2012-2019) regarding these hashtags. The analysis has few levels including
    semantic research, stakeholder and hashtag review, engagement, and the whole tweet activity
    exploration.

    Maintaining competitiveness is one of the long-term strategic goals for companies. Beside
    tangible and intangible assets, the value of human capital is continuously growing, due to
    changes in the labour market. A loyal, highly skilled employee makes a significant contribution
    to organizational success through competencies, experience, and skills. The career management
    system of multinational companies became more attractive by the possibility of international
    assignments, which is a very complicated process requiring complex planning. This system is
    considered global for several reasons: its transnational nature, international experience gained
    by the employees and the achievable career on a global scale for the individual (as a part of a
    successful process).
    Creating a global career management system thus involves a number of HR functions.
    Emphasis should be placed on finding suitable employees, selecting, onboarding, mentoring, on
    methods and the evaluators in the performance appraisal process, providing feedback on a
    regular basis and in an appropriate manner, achieving and maintaining motivation, developing
    competencies and supporting the balance in mental health.

  • Do we have the effect of poverty ethnicisation in the Biharkeresztes micro-region?

    At a research in the Biharkeresztes micro-region (conducted via semi-structured interviews) we
    asked family households living in poverty. Roma households were mostly among the respondents.
    We also found that that estimated number of Roma population in the settlements correlated to
    the number of people working in public service. The examination of age structure diagrams at
    the settlements showed that the ones the mayors estimated to have a higher Roma population,
    are the younger settlements. The fact that there can be a causal relationship between these
    phenomena is supported by numerous previous researches (Kemény, 2004; Molnár, 2007). These
    researches pointed out the effect of poverty ethnicisation in Hungary (Ladányi – Szelényi, 2004).
    Furthermore, a research conducted in 2007 at the neighbouring Szabocs-Szatmár-Bereg County
    also confirmed the ethnicisation theory (Fónai et al.). The aim of this study is to examine the
    possibility of poverty ethnicisation at the five settlements of the Biharkeresztes micro-region,
    with the help of the implemented qualitative inquiry, previous researches, and databases from
    CSO and TeIR .

    How discipline the teachers in the primary schools in Hungary? How should they discipline to
    meet the expectations, values and norms of our society? According to my research, in today’s
    primary schools there are significant differences between discipline and conflict management.
    I analyse the differences and I set the behavior patterns of the teachers into three distinct types.
    These three characters are controlled from traditions, outside and inside. These three types are
    distinctly distinct in everyday life of schools, with different effects on students’ socialization. In
    this paper, I present this hypothetical model, its operation in the dimension of discipline. The
    interviews that underlie the analysis were prepared by village teachers teaching in the Vásárosnamény micro-region.

  • The role of the hidden curriculum in the development of horizontal gender segregation, as a result of an interview research with teachers

    The impact and influencing power of educators and teaching aids used in education systems is an internationally researched area as they play a key role in the development and study of students’ personality. According to the literature, the teacher is one of the most significant „tools” of the hidden curriculum behind the official curriculum, but the presentation of the phenomenon in teaching aids strengthens gender stereotypes and reduces the possibility of gender equality. In this study, we examine the role of a hidden curriculum in the development of gender horizontal segregation, with particular reference to the influence of teachers and textbooks. In the empirical part of the study, we did conduct a semi -structured interview with 18 elementary school teachers through a non-probability expert sampling, which was analyzed by categorization and interpretation. Our results show that traditional gender roles have prevailed in the family of educators. During their studies, they observed a difference depending on their educators in terms of behavior and expectations – but they believe that they themselves do not differentiate between students. According to their views, the personality of the teachers is of particular importance regarding the personality development and academic progress of the students, however, the career orientation of the children is mainly determined by the parents family patterns that appear in the family.

  • Advantages of the home ground: The role of the social contacts in the immobile status of the rural youth

    The paper deals with the effects of the structure and the working of the egocentric network to the immobile status of rural youth. The research was made in 2018 among 19-25-year-old youth living in villages with not more than 2500 inhabitants. More, than a hundred (104) structured interview was made: 53 youth and 51 parents. Firstly, the study shows the network size and composition of the examined population, then the influence of the revealed functions of the egocentric network of the youth to their immobility. Based on the data the egocentric network of the youth mainly consist of strong ties: close kin and other relatives. From the weak ties the most frequent contacts belong to the education institutions as primary or grammar school, university. The local schools have a great role in the forming of the friendships. The local working place contacts, neighbours and acquaintanceships are not general actors of the egocentric networks of the youth.

  • The Party System of the European Parliament between 2004–2019

    The paper examines the party system of the European Parliament (EP) between 2004–2019
    through European Parliamentary Groups. It applies party system typologies in an international
    case. The examined period starts from 2004, which marks the largest enlargement of the
    dominating the decision-making In addition to the widely used typologies developed by Blondel
    and Sartori, the present paper focuses on the relationship between the political groups in the
    EP and their role in decision-making. It draws conclusions about the nature of the party system
    and its changes over three cycles from the internal cohesion indices and coalition statistics of
    the political groups. The party system of the EP is a polarised pluralist system dominated by
    two political groups (bidominant). In the period under review, the party system of the EP can be
    characterized as balanced, showing only small changes.
