Leadership challenges in virtual environment: The importance of the synergism in ICT toolset and leadership development
27-48.Views:45The companies connected to the global value chain inevitably and necessarily apply virtualized
solutions in their work organization. As such, the appropriate implementation of the shoring
strategies, the increasing competition and the supply-demand imbalance on the local market of
the high-skilled workers, all puts the existing organizational and leadership practices to the test.
The article aims to highlight the main challenges the virtual team leaders (VTL) are facing and
some best practices that might widen the toolset of the modern VTL. The results are based on a
case study of a multinational info-communication technology (ICT) service company in which
experienced managers and leaders shared their strategies. The main takeaways of the empirical
research are (i) the emphasis on the “early-adopter” behavior and the proper usage of the latest
technology in the communication, (ii) the importance of the ability of building trust and setting
common goals; (iii) despite that everyone is perfectly connected via the internet, the regular
personal presence is still the most powerful leadership tool. -
Linguistic Landscape of Turistical Attractions in Transcarpathia
91-118Views:43The change of the linguistic landscape is a sore spot for the minority population that can be
driven out of the virtual language use. Linguistic landscape is not only indicative of the language
vitality of an area or region’s population, but can also reflect the real language ethnicity.
Extralinguistic factors are as important as the two basic functions of linguistic texts and
the models explaining the elements of the linguistic landscape. Such a factor is a small area
or region’s economic, in our case touristic development. The increased tourist demand of the
majority brings about numerous phenomena that are of significant influence on the linguistic
landscape of the minorities’ territory. This research is aimed at revealing the influence a local
economic investment makes (can make) on the formation of the territory’s linguistic landscape.
I would like to show the changes in the linguistic landscape recorded by Hodinka Antal Research Centre in its photo database of 2011–2012, February and September of 2016, as well as of 2017 on the
basis of my observations and photographs. -
Reflecions on the society of control – Footnotes to the Delezoguattarian machine
210-228Views:79The present study revolves around the concept of the Deleuzean machine. It undertakes to
introduce the machine from Deleuze’s concept of the societies of control. Thus this paper is not
a presentation of the critique of the Freudian and Lacanian notions of desire that the machine
is introduced as a late capitalist abstract agent, but a genalogy of the machinic mechanism – as
a logic of operation – is outlined from a new perspective. The emphasis of the study is not on
psychoanalises and capitalism, and on schizoanalysis as a critique of them, but ont he operational
logic of the societies of control: the articulation of controlling freedom. Fort he latter, concepcts
such as territory, de- and reterritorialization, as well as the operating principles of cybernetic systems are shed light on. By examining this concept, therefore, the ways of understanding the
social, economic and political processes of ourt time can be shed new light.
