    In the manuscript, grounded in secondary research, I present literature reviews and statistics outlining the benefits and constraining factors related to the engagement in sports among socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals. Sports serve as a highly effective tool for facilitating social integration and ensuring equal opportunities. It is crucial to examine the sporting consumption habits of the disadvantaged target group and identify inhibitory factors to assist decision-makers in supporting measures for promoting equal opportunities. To alleviate social disparities, it is essential to establish conditions that guarantee long-term participation for everyone in economic and social life. Recognizing and promptly addressing disadvantages that manifest early in life are key factors for success in later life. Providing support to needy children, expanding their opportunities, and reinforcing a comprehensive system of child protection and well-being are fundamental for their successful integration into society.

    Fish consumption is a highly important area in the field of healthy nutrition. It is well known that besides the culinary delights, fish has a very significant physiological effect, which could increase the average lifetime and could help to improve the life quality during a longer life. Therefore it would be essential for the catering industry to improve their role within this field. They should reshape the eating habits of the ones, who are usually dining outside their homes unperceived, by using fish specialties, combining different cooking and preparation methods and possibilities. However, the observation illustrates that guests are only aware of a limited utilization of this ingredient and unfortunately in catering businesses there are only a few experimenting chefs, who replace traditional flavors with fish specialties.

  • The Analysis of Energy Drink Consumption Patterns among the Residents of Budapest in their Twenties

    In this analysis I examined the energy drink consumption patt erns of the residents of Budapest in their twenties. My goals were to get information about consumption patterns, to find out the main factors influencing choice, to learn about their knowledge about energy drinks and to determine the connections between the regularly consumed energy drink brand and its recognition by consumers with the help of a sensory test. My primary research was carried out with the help of qualitative (personal interviews) and quantitative (blind tests, questionnaire) research methods. The research findings show that the examined consumers drink energy drinks most often while awakening and partying. They drink them against tiredness and to improve concentration. Most consumers think that energy drinks are harmful; however they like and drink them.

  • The examination of the maturnity of home-made composts

    In our study the stability and oxigen consumption were determined home made compost of different maturity.The results show that the oxigen consumption and the level of maturity of compost depend on the preparations, particle size of compost and the moisture content (wetting method). It is very important to adopt a standard policy in compost maturity determination. Standard EU directives are needed for the preparation and maturity determination.

    In our paper, we survey the changes of the last 10 years regarding the use of renewable energy in Hungary and the surrounding EU countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia). In 2015, the share of renewable energy in EU28 is 16.7% of final energy consumption, 28.8% of electricity, 18.6% of heating/cooling and 6.7% of transport. We present the renewable energy targets of Hungary and the surrounding member states and
    their fulfillment in 2015. We also look at the share of the gross domestic energy and renewable energy consumption.

    The topic of sustainability is known worldwide, as it tries to find a solution to a global problem. Its goal is to create and use alternatives when using inputs and outputs that cause less pollution, reducing the use of renewable and non-renewable resources provided by the Earth. The goal of sustainable development is to transform governmental, production, manufacturing, consumption, and other processes in such a way as to give the Earth a chance for long-term survival. The exponentially growing population and the ever-increasing consumption and overconsumption began to pollute our world at an even greater rate. It is enough to think about increased air smog pollution, desertification, polluted waters, or global climate change to realize how big a problem we are facing. Our primary research was based on a questionnaire survey, which tried to reveal the difference between the Hungarian and Spanish respondents about sustainable, but primarily environmentally conscious behavior. In this study, we focus only on the results of the Hungarian respondents (N=357) and present the individual consumer groups in terms of environmentally conscious behavior. Descriptive statistical analysis, principal component and cluster analysis were used for the study. From our research, it became clear that people filling in use several methods to reduce their individual pollutant emissions. In addition, it is considered the most important thing to start environmentally conscious education from an early age. Our results of the principal component analysis did not coincide with previous research results on the topic, but they showed similar patterns. In the present research, the dimensions were Eco-fit career awareness, Trend following, Selfless patriotic values, ​​and Favorable company perception. Based on the cluster analysis, it can be said that there are not many people in the group most committed to sustainability goals, the Sustainable Conscious segment, however, unlike in recent years, there is a group strongly in favor of sustainability and domestic values, who appeared in larger numbers in our sample.

  • HAZAI RENDEZÉSŰ NEMZETKÖZI SPORTESEMÉNYRŐL VALÓ TÁVOLMARADÁS OKAINAK FELTÁRÁSA

    The core product of sport companies is the sporting event, while the core product of professional sport is international sporting events. Consumers, both active and passive, are the most important players in sporting events. In my research, I studied passive sport consumers. I wanted to get an idea of what the main reason(s) for not attending the sporting event were and what had the least impact on it. The UEFA 2020 European Football Championship matches in Budapest were the subject of the investigation. The questionnaire was conducted online using the snowball method. The questionnaire was based on previous passive sports consumption questionnaires. Nearly 150 responses were received. Respondents were typically in the 18-25 age group, with an almost equal proportion of men and women. By place of residence, they were mainly urban with average incomes. High ticket prices, high additional costs of participation, limited disposable income, other entertainment alternatives and convenience were cited as the main reasons for not attending. The least influential reason for not attending was the lack of COVID19 immunity card. Based on this pattern, it may be worthwhile to offer additional services in stadiums outside the match, even during halftime (halftime show), which could provide alternative entertainment, raise the quality of the matches, or creating ticket and/or season ticket promotions for women, couples. Almost half of the respondents fully support the organisation of further international sporting events in Hungary.

    As a result of globalization, the consumption of fish and fishery products also boomed, thanks to the appearance of imported products. It can already be said that many fish species and processing forms are available to consumers every day. Because of this, consumer habits have changed and the consumption of fish products, which are part of a healthy diet, is becoming increasingly prominent. The aim of the article is to present the consumer habits and attitudes related to fish and fishery products at the global, European Union, and domestic level.

    Air pollution is a severe problem affecting cities worldwide, with significant environmental and public health implications. Air quality has become challenging as cities grow rapidly with far-reaching socioeconomic consequences. This paper aims to provide a bibliographic review of existing literature on the economic impacts of air pollution in urban areas. The review includes studies that measure health costs, labour productivity impacts, household consumption, stock market performance, and tourism. The findings show that air pollution results in significant economic burdens, such as increased healthcare costs due to pollution-related illnesses and productivity losses. Additionally, it negatively affects household consumption, stock market valuation, and tourism revenue.

  • A motivational study of passive sport consumer participation in UEFA 2020 European Football Championship matches in Budapest

    The aim of the present research was to explore the preferences of spectators and the factors that influence their participation in sporting events. The subject of the study was the UEFA 2020 European Football Championship matches in Budapest. Of the approximately 150 respondents, more than 2/3 were men aged 18-40. The fans in the survey prefer betting matches. The main reasons for attending the UEFA 2020 European Football Championship matches in Budapest were the expected good atmosphere, the chance to cheer for the home team, a social programme with friends and acquaintances, and the opportunity to spend some free time and have fun. The least motivating factor was the lack of a better programme and the lack of promotional products offered by the sponsors. During the visit, the participants were most satisfied with the facility and its accessibility, but criticised the range of products in the buffet, considered the service time too long and missed the show (audience entertainment) elements on site. The survey showed that more emphasis should be placed on entertainment elements, Fan Zone programmes and the opportunity to meet the stars. The points that were criticised, such as the range of products and service times of the buffet, could be solved by using mobile buffets that serve the customers walking through the stands during the match.

    Meat has been playing an important role in the nutrition of humanity from the beginning of time; therefore meat is a fundamental foodstuff. Global population is steadily increasing and people consume more and more foodstuff with high added value including meat and dairy products. In context of meat production and consumption, poultry and pork sector are the major predominant sub-sectors not only nationally, but also internationally. Pork sector had a definite leading role until the end of 1990s. However, this trend has undergone changes and poultry sector is predicted to have this leading role, according to current trends. The aim of our research is to reveal and analize what impacts this structural change have on businesses in these sectors including their asset situations.

  • Market Trends and Consumer Motivations for Plant-Based Milk Alternatives in the European Union and Hungary

    The market for plant-based milk alternatives is one of the fastest-growing segments in the functional beverage industry, driven in recent years by health-conscious lifestyles, sustainability considerations, and changing food purchasing habits. This study aims to present current consumer trends and motivations, as well as to explore the economic significance of plant-based milk alternatives in the European Union and Hungary. The research is based on secondary market data analysis and two focus group studies, which provided insights into consumer attitudes and perceptions related to advertising activities. The analysis covers revenue data from the largest markets, the diversity of consumption drivers, and the visual and messaging elements found in communication strategies. The findings may contribute to defining target group–oriented marketing communication and identifying opportunities for market development.

  • The Children’s Role in the Food Purchase Decision-Making Process

    In our present paper we wish to give a closer picture of store, product and brand choice in the food purchase decision-making process. We examined the role played by children in the family purchase decision-making process, especially in store, product and brand choice at daily and big shopping. In our research we applied - apart from bibliography review and secondary research - primary qualitative (deep interview) research. On the basis of our qualitative research findings children play an important role in the family purchase decision-making process, but this role is not dominant. According to our research findings children play a bigger role in the store choice at big shopping and in the product choice when they choose the product for their own consumption.

    Abstract

    In the European Union, the population uses 26% of the energy. Due to the strategic goal of achieving climate neutrality and the crises of recent years, investment in the use of renewable energies has accelerated. In order to support this process, the Circular Economy Analysis Center of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) started the development of a so-called multidisciplinary smart map, which shows the possibilities of renewable energy sources that can be used locally, and the selection of the optimal energy production mix based on the location of residential buildings and buildings. The purpose of this article is to present the selection of test sites necessary for the development of the map, highlighting their geographical, meteorological, economic, and social characteristics. Based on the applied multi-criteria system, the selection of testing locations and tasks is a complex task. The investigations are summarized in five chapters. The first one describes the introductory thoughts related to the initiation and development of the project. The second deals with Hungarian residential energy consumption in the light of international data. The third presents the principles of smart map development and defines the criteria for testing locations. And the fourth one analyzes and presents the principles and possibilities of selecting locations. The fifth part summarizes the location selection process, describes the methodology of the applied analyzes and describes the results of the location selection. The described procedure can guide the examination of these factors in other international projects.

    Logistics processes have an increasingly significant environmental impact, which is partly caused by a lack of knowledge or priority for green logistics. Emissions from transport, energy consumption related to production, storage and material handling, as well as packaging waste are all serious burdens. At the same time, environmentally friendly solutions can improve the image of companies. The goal of a green supply chain is not only to deliver products to the consumer, but also to reduce environmental impact while maintaining efficiency and reliability. Sustainability strategies such as reducing the carbon footprint or increasing energy efficiency are crucial. The topic was examined by systematic literature analysis based on the Web of Science database (2014–2024), using the PRISMA methodology. According to the results, from 2021 onwards, digital technologies (e.g. blockchain, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence) have come to the fore, which will determine the future of green logistics and further research directions.

    It is not a secret that tourism plays an important role in the development of not just any specific country but the global economy in general. It also promotes urban development in such sensitive areas as coasts and islands, increased water consumption and waste production, fragmentation of habitats and loss of biological diversity. Tourism industry is also one of the reasons behind higher demand for transportation, particularly those types that damage the environment most – personal vehicles and aircraft. “In 2005 in Europe, about 59% of the tourists arrived to their destination by car, 34% by airplane”. According to UNWTO International Tourism Barometer, the international tourism was growing at the rate of 5% in the first nine months of 2013. The key driving force behind this growth is Europe (mainly Central and Eastern Europe) and Asia-Pacific region. Thus, tourism, while playing a truly significant role in the global economy, at the same time causes major damage to the environment. Hence the urgent need to eliminate negative consequences of tourism activities. This can be done by promptly regulating the activities of agents in this area. However, due to the global value of tourism, this process requires not just the local regulators getting involved, but joint effort by many countries. Therefore, international agreements between countries as the primary regulators of tourism activities are becoming increasingly important.

    Nowadays healthy lifestyle and physical activity are receiving more and more attention around the world of which regular exercise and proper nutrition are an essential part. Physically active lifestyle plays a significant role in maintaining physical and mental health. The growth of physical activity in the last ten years can be detected both at the domestic and European Union level. Today most of the people spend increased time on active and passive sports activities. Demand for sporting goods, various live sporting events and broadcasts has also increased significantly. The aim of our research is to assess the passive sports consumption habits of young people, around the students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Debrecen, based on the earlier mentioned facts. The topicality of the topic is unquestionable as the University of Debrecen provides more opportunities for its students to do active and passive sports activities than ever before.

    The sustainability and its key element, the environmental awareness has been known for decades, however in general can be said that in the decision making the short term economic profit is still more dominant both on the individual and company levels. In last few years the rapid growth of CO2 emission is now not just risking the human life but the flora and fauna is in heavy danger. The concerns pay more attention on their short-term profits instead of the environmental protection. First of all with the change of the leadership attitude can reach the environmentally conscious organization that can support the reduction of the emissions, so the improvement of the atmospherical CO2 concentration. In my study I’m going to present what possibilities do the companies have to reduce their emissions and how these improvements could be harmonized with the profit interests (with the reduce of electricity-, water-, and gas consumption).

    The proportion of people with disabilities and changed functional work capacity has in-creased not only in the EU, but also in Hungary, with parallel studies showing an increasing trend. In our research, we examined the sporting habits of 8-18 year old children (N = 283) living with disability in the North Great Plain region, and asked about their experience with the supply elements of accessible sports facilities and integrated sports programs.

    The importance and the relevance of the topic based on consumption psychology and advertising psychology can be approached from several aspects. The actors of business life managed to achieve that young people have become one of the most important target markets. Namely nowadays children and youngsters have been the most preferred target market, they are the  future (consumers). Apart from this we live in a consumer society where goods are characteristically not only the tools of need fulfilment, but important influencing factors at the same time that form the basis of the formation of social status differences. In our present paper we examine that in 2015 in the web age how members of generation Z approach the subject of advertisements, what type of attitudes they have, and how these formulate their consumer behaviour or what are the motivating factors influencing nowadays’ teens when a customer decision is made. Hence our aim is to examine the consumer and media usage behaviour, the influencing factors, the motives, brand priority and attitudes towards advertisements of the tween segment living in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County.

  • Investigation of consumer behavior in social media in the handball

    Social media exploded onto the scene roughly two decades ago, revolutionising the way we think about marketing communication and the way we think about information delivery. It has opened doors that were unprecedented. It can also be profitable for sports companies if they can deliver effective marketing communications to their existing and potential customers. To be effective in this environment, it is important to analyse consumer behaviour to identify the real needs of users and to meet those needs. We used an online questionnaire to assess the consumer needs of our respondents and the social media market from a marketing perspective. We conducted a handball specific research, excluding individuals who do not follow handball at any level from the study sample. We also looked at age differences, and device usage. Given our results, it can be stated that thorough market research is important for effective marketing communication by a handball club on different social media platforms.
