Tapasztalati tanulási módszerek helye és szerepe a szociális képzésekben
Views:258The present study seeks the place and role of experiential learning methods in social trainings – primarily BA in social work and BA in social pedagogy. The provoking sentence is in the writings of Dominelli (1997), who states that those who only participate in trainings become less innovative thinkers, rather they become professionals who can only solve practical problems.
The author of the present study is committed to the use of training and experiential learning methods. The experience of a teacher / trainer in social work and social pedagogy in BA courses confirms that this method is what can form a bridge between theory and practice and is able to integrate the two approaches. With my writing I support that the method – by its framework, its methods based on experiential learning and the personality of the trainer – leads to the modern and innovative social expertise that characterizes the reflective social professional. -
Utópia vagy apátia? Az alapjövedelem esetleges bevezetésének hatásai és következményei a mentális betegséggel élőkre Magyarországon
Views:292As a social worker I have been working with people with mental illness for nearly a decade. I sought out to link guaranteed basic income in this social group with general life circumstances, employment opportunities, social services and social work. I discuss guaranteed basic income as a social worker and not on the basis of published literature or calculations. I do not write in the usual way – by listing the well known pro and contra arguments. I am examining how guaranteed basic income could potentially improve the life of a disadvantaged social group – in this case people with mental illness.
In this study, I write whether the guaranteed basic income as an utopian idea is able to stir up stigmas. I am going to illustrate the main characteristics of people with psychiatric illness, their social perception, their chances of employment and their financial benefits by presenting four cases. Then, in the second part, I summarize the concepts and elements of guaranteed basic income and the possible consequences of introducing guaranteed basic income for people with psychiatric illness. Furthermore, I examine the issues around guaranteed basic income and services, and the role of social work as well.

A szociális szakemberek digitális technológia és közösségi média használata
Views:624The study presents the results of research on the use of digital technology and social media by social professionals. The research was carried out using a quantitative method, 337 social professionals filled out the questionnaire. I examined the attitudes and needs of social professionals, IT proficiency, digital literacy, characteristics of social media use, with reference to online contact with clients and conscious media use. According to the results, the attitudes of social professionals are positive about the use of technology. Online contact with clients is very common, however, most institutions do not have any recommendations or regulations in this regard. 7 out of 10 respondents never participated in IT, digital competence development training and most of them consider that they did not receive adequate training in the use of info communication technologies during their studies. They see a need to support the procurement of new tools and programs and they would need guidelines, recommendations on the use of technology and social media. The study concludes with a summary of the research results and the formulation of development proposals.

Kivonuló, zsugorodó vagy gondoskodó állam? A szociális törvény parlamenti vitájának elemzése a gondozási etika normatív szűrőjén keresztül
Views:111The 2022 amendment of the Social Act codified the principle of self-care in a stricter form than before, stating that "Everyone is responsible for themselves." The original wording of the bill submitted to Parliament declared even more clearly and sharply that "The individual is primarily responsible for their own social security." Professional organizations dealing with social policy and social work, as well as the independent press and opposition parties, unequivocally interpreted the amendment as a withdrawal of the state, while the ruling party that submitted the bill primarily referred to the principle of subsidiarity. Meanwhile, in recent years, social policy and social professions have increasingly been pushed out of the official state terminology, being replaced by the term "care policy." This study attempts to identify and evaluate the normative framework of legislation (problem definition, declared values and ideologies, conceptions regarding state involvement and human nature) by analysing the parliamentary debate on the amendment. Additionally, the analysis pays special attention to uncovering the meanings of "care policy" used by legislators and "traditional" social policy as presented in opposition speeches. Therefore, as the method of analysis, I chose a normative document analysis method based on the ethical values of care and political-philosophical assumptions. The study consists of three parts. First, I summarize the values that define the ethics of care and introduce the document analysis method called Trace, then follows the analysis of the parliamentary debate on the law, and finally, the evaluation of the normative framework.

A szociális munkások munkahelyi biztonságáról, a kockázatokról és a szakma identitáskríziséről
Views:1290I have been trying to finish this paper for years. I started when, in the summer of 2018, a father of three children who was being evicted for not paying a foreign currency loan killed one of our colleagues, the only person who tried to do something for him in a hopeless situation. Initially, I wanted to write about the safety of social workers at work and the possibilities of risk management. I was invited to a committee of experts to draw up recommendations on this subject. While writing the expert opinion, as a social worker, I tried to assess the risks that threaten our colleagues in their daily work, and also what we can do, or who at all can do and what to control these risks. I also realized how much an intervention is worth that doesn’t affect the most serious risks, it just makes recommendations to colleagues on what to do if, for example, a father deprived of his child shows up in the office swinging an ax. In addition, interventions come at a price. What can social assistance work be like without intimate counselling rooms, but with police protection, panic buttons, paprika spray, official person! badge, and so on. I also participated in the group of experts whose first report on a serious malpractice case also appears in this issue. And then came the coronavirus epidemic. And now I have completed the study, which is actually about the crisis of our profession and what can to be done to manage it.

Szociális munka virtuális térben
Views:269The current health crisis we are experiencing because of Covid-19 pandemic has put social worker schools in a new, unexpected position. How can a practice-based training program be organized during a ‘lockdown’ period? How practical skills can be acquired if contact with field teachers, social services and target groups is limited? Assuming that the world will not be the same after the pandemic and that higher education institutions and systems will not be the same after the crisis, we believe that it is time to rethink the forms of work in the training of social workers and to develop practical techniques that suit better the digital generation of 21st century. In order to learn about innovations and good practices arising from the situation, we organized a focus group interview with 15 field teachers. In the course of our research, we sought to answer the questions: What new forms of practical training have been developed? What are the benefits of the online education? What would the field teachers keep from the currently experimented forms of work in the post-crisis period? The first results of our research prove that, contrary to expectations, the world has not narrowed but expanded as a result of the restrictions. With the intensive use of digital tools and forms of work, remote locations and target groups have become available, special knowledge elements have become involved in training, and new opportunities for the development of personal skills have opened in the social worker training. The crisis situation had a particularly positive effect on the emergence of training innovations.

A művészetterápia szerepe a serdülőkori depresszió kezelésében
Views:1031As social workers we frequently meet teenagers who are suffering from some type of depression. Of course social workers cannot heal them, or use therapy, but we do have to do everything in our power to form a trusting relationship with them as our clients. They need to communicate with us, which is already a challenge when it comes to the relationship between an adolescent and an adult. My project’s goal was to find the use and role of art therapy in our work with clinically depressed adolescents. In my research I write about the typical signs and forms of depression, and explain a few theories about the cause of the illness. Then I introduce different types of art therapy, mainly focusing on their use in social work. I examined different methods in art therapy and made a few recommendations about how they could be used in working with depressed clients.During my work I was very careful not to overstep the lines of social work. As I said, we cannot cure depression, but we can use certain tools of art therapy as a bridge between the social worker and the client whose age and illness makes it even more difficult to build a trusting relationship. -
Stigmatization of Children and Youth of the Socially Non-homogeneous Neighborhoods: Analysis of the Mechanisms of the Neighborhood Effects and the Concept of Empowering Social Work
Views:53The manuscript presents a concept of the mechanisms of the neighborhood effects which has been empirically grounded in a long-term qualitative study conducted by me in one of Łódź disadvantaged residential environments. The theory generated during the study fits into a model that explains the neighborhood impact in terms of social processes endogenous to the neighborhood. In particular, it offers an explanation of the neighborhood impact in terms of social heterogeneity and consequential stigmatization of the selected groups of residents. The reconstruction of the stigmatization process and its outcomes for the selected groups of residents − children and youth − inspired my reflection on empowering social work in socially non-homogeneous neighborhoods, which I also put forward in this contribution.

Az empowerment, mint indikátor
Views:158Determining and identifying the effectiveness of social work pose significant challenges for both researchers and practitioners alike. Due to quality assurance, training expectations, and scientific thoroughness, we continually seek ways to define results and to make the necessity of social work visible. In our interpretation, empowerment realized in a support relationship can serve as both the aim of assistance and as an indicator of the effectiveness of the relationship. Due to the multifactorial nature of the support process, it is not easy to identify which agent in the collaborative work led the individual to a state where they can control their own lives and influence their environment. In our study, we examine the morphosemantic meaning of empowerment and uncover the content contradictions that emerge in the analysis. Subsequently, we direct attention to the organizational environment of the support relationship: we explore which organizational characteristics and operations influence the realization of empowerment and how this may occur.

Spiritualitás a fogyatékos személyek segítésében
Views:88In our study, we seek to answer the question of how Christian anthropology impacts on Christian social work for people with disabilities. An important question is how Christian faith can contribute to helping people with disabilities. One of the guiding principles of our thinking is the Confessio Vitium adopted by the Synod of the Reformed Church in Hungary in 2016. Our paper focuses on the added value of Christian social work in helping people with disabilities, based on a biblical view of humanity.

Felkészülés és képzéshasznosulás a segítő szakmákban: Összehasonlító tanulmány
Views:230The objective of the study is to investigate the integration of social work students in the labour market in order to develop social work BA-level education. The research is based on a quantitative questionnaire completed by a number of 196 University-graduate respondents. The data collection was carried out in three institutions: Partium Christian University, University of Pécs, and University of Debrecen. According to the results, most experts consider themselves well prepared, but they have some shortcomings in their skills such as knowledge of foreign languages, financial literacy, project management, application writing, research methodology and understanding social processes. University education should focus more on these areas. Most of the professionals are satisfied with their education, but the proportion of the average evaluators is also high. It was found that the relationship between the knowledge acquired in the university is not significantly related to job satisfaction, and certain skills can be retrofitted during work practice.

Perspectives of problem-based learning in social higher education
Views:97The paper provides insight into the theoretical and methodological features of problem-based learning PBL), as one of challenges and contemporary to advance active learning in higher education. The method was first developed in the realms of medical education, but in recent years it has reached a rather wide range of professional training programs, including social work education. Following a condensed theoretical overview of the method, the author outlines the concept and thematic structure of a short (four-day) introductory workshop for teachers and curriculum developers working in higher education of social workers and allied professionals, who would have the chance to discuss the possibility of introducing the method in their teaching practice as a starting point towards the integration and development of a more practice-oriented training of social professionals.

A szakmai identitás, mint a szociálismunkás-képzés egyik kulcskérdése
Views:1173Social worker identity development is a key to helpers’ effectiveness. Institutions of higher education have their own systems to assess knowledge and skills. Measuring attitudes, and emerging autonomy and responsibility remains a challenge, though the developmental level of these latter components are fundamental to the motivations and reflectivity of the practitioner. Identity Structure Analysis is a method to explore the main elements of professional identity, identity formation and dynamics. Our sample included 57 social work practitioners. Our results indicate that a degree in social work, research and critical thinking were considered of secondary importance as compared to continuous professional development opportunities. Self-awareness trainings and clinical supervision were identified as key training resources. Based on our results, curriculum development should include considerations on professional identity development. Continuing professional education, trainings, mentoring, and clinical supervision are essential resources for social worker practitioners during their career.

A romániai szociális munka történelmi és társadalmi kontextusa
Views:246External analysts often characterize our region (Eastern Europe or Central-Eastern Europe) as a whole. Such approaches can be found not only in economic and political issues, but also in social terms. However, local experts, who are familiar with the specifics of these countries, are aware of the nuances and differences that have become specific to a certain country. This paper aims to reveal the historical and social context of social work in Romania, which determines the current position and role of the profession. It is obvious that the profession has made a long course of development over the last three decades since it has been virtually reborn, but as the final part of the paper emphasizes, many organizational problems still need to be resolved.

Veszteségek feldolgozásában nyújtott támogatás, gyászolók kísérése a szociális munka praxisában a szociális munkás szakemberek viszonyulásának tükrében
Views:92The changes of the recent years have strongly used the flexible adaptability of social workers, and the difficulties experienced on a personal and professional level have put their emotional capacity to the test. For a long time social workers were faced with numerous situations where they had to stand up in a way and in roles in which they did not have enough knowledge and information to solve the task(s) at hand. It is also often observed that social workers working in the institutional system behave with reluctance in relation to the losses and grief of their clients, and do not participate in situations requiring crisis intervention. There has been and continues to be an increased need to support the mourning process, so it is necessary for social workers to have adequate knowledge, to be understanding and be ready to participate in the accompaniment of grief in order to provide and organize appropriate help in this regard. The study examines the place of accompanying grief and crisis intervention in the practice of social workers.

Ez nem semmi! A történetalapú foglalkozások alkalmazása a szociális munkában
Views:338The study focuses on the socialized reading experience, referred to as story based method, by the author, who also recommends it as a tool for group or communal social work. In this nature, it can be clearly distinguished from the art or bibliotherapeutical directions, since only the aid is similar (the story, the reading and the discussion), but the framework of processing, regulating, depth and purpose is different. Hence, experiencing the process will become different for the participants and an other kind of involvement is required from them. Besides, the experience of story based method does not exclude motivation for deeper self-understanding and it could open barriers to involve in a therapeutic procedure.
The introduction of the story based method is done through the work of Janne Teller. The short story was published in Denmark in 2000. The readers and professionals' attention was immediately drawn that Teller's book was initially prohibited, scandalous and later on awarded by the Ministry of Culture to be the Best Children's book. Also it was compulsory to read. The text of the book is easily understandable, however the problems described have a deeper meaning to them, therefore, it is suitable for analysis in several groups with dissimilar sociocultural backgrounds after the adequate revision.
