    Developing good views on lifelong learning should not only be one of the goals of all teachers but also national and international strategies. Experiences, how some of the students participating in the training do not see the importance of this in all respects. A study analyzing individual factors of lifelong learning from the student's point of view examined and evaluated the opinions of students of different age groups (Gőgh, 2018). One of the main goals of the study was to explore the factors that students face with regard to lifelong learning, those factors that are most likely to lose their pleasures from learning and which can motivate them. From the point of view of the IPOO learning model, the resulting responses and deductible consequences may also be more clearly illuminated, so it is worth examining them from this approach. The results of the study are from a questionnaire-based study (n = 378), which is representative of the institutions participating in the survey, the BGéSZC Kossuth Lajos Bilingual Vocational Secondary School of Technology. It is worth thinking about the honest responses of students because they can include consequences on the institutional level and in general, with which learning motivations and willingness to learn can also be influenced in a positive direction that is essential for lifelong learning.

    In this article, some alternative school practices are presented, focusing on the choices of students during the information gathering phase of learning, including the topic selection and resource research as well as the learning organization phase. Learning phases are interpreted according to IPOO-model. After the introduction of the practices, we propose some solutions that will provide students with similar choices in the traditional school environment.

    The article focuses on the idea that it is time that teachers and students take control of their own learning, that education must be transformed and aligned with the realities of the 21st century. One way to take ownership of our own learning is student-centered teaching and learning. In this process several elements are important: constructivist activities, metacognitive reflections, student and professor partnerships, collaborative/cooperative efforts, authentic assessments, active and on-going student engagement in the work to learn, explicit teaching of important skills, student control of at least some of their learning, peer and professor/teacher feedback, and learning-based, to a large extent, on student effort.

  • Indifferent Learning in the Social Network: An Extended Theoretical Interpretation of Cultural Patterns and Parental Attitudes

    Theories of social learning traditionally distinguish between three fundamental models: supportive, compensatory, and neutral learning models. The neutral model assumes that an individual’s learning processes and outcomes are independent of the social environment, serving as an analytical null hypothesis in the study of social learning. Contemporary research in cultural psychology and educational sociology, however, highlights that cultural norms, value systems, and parental attitudes are deeply embedded factors shaping individual learning strategies. This paper aims to provide a detailed theoretical formalization of the neutral learning model and critically analyze it from the perspectives of cultural differences and parental influences. The study offers an extended theoretical review of the model’s limitations, explores the hidden mechanisms through which social and familial dimensions affect learning, and proposes an integrative methodological framework to guide future empirical research.

  • A CASE STUDY OF TEACHING ENGLISH IN KINDERGARTENS SINCE 1989 – A NORTH-EAST HUNGARIAN CITY

    In our paper, we deal with the significance of learning languages at an early age. The research aimed to explore how the teaching methods employed in kindergartens have altered with the change of the political regime in 1989–90. A case-study was conducted using semi-structured interviews (n=7) with early childhood educators and language teachers in 2016/2017. Oral history method was used because no written material was produced. Based on information we received from the informants and local authorities, early English activities were available in 68% of kindergartens in the North-East Hungarian city when the research was undertaken. The number of kindergartens which organize playbased foreign language practices has been increasing since the 1990s. In the beginning, providing educational personnal was the most difficult task. Using audio-visual devices and props has been highly important, and Early Childhood Educators have been doing their best when working with children aged 4–7. However, there are differences too, due to the development of technology. 

  • AI-Based Autonomous Language Learning: Reality or Utopia?

    In the literature, self-regulatory or autonomous learning is invariably defined using active, action-oriented verbs (e.g. direct, control, regulate), thus highlighting the importance of decision-making responsibility — a factor that results in a particularly complex process when it comes to language learning, as it involves both oral and written skill sets. Written and listening comprehension, speech production, written composition, grammatical knowledge, and vocabulary need to be practised. With the rise of AI-based learning support tools, many people feel that autonomous language learning is 100% feasible. In this paper, 19 studies are examined using the methods of hermeneutic analysis and critical discourse analysis to determine whether language learners are indeed ready for fully autonomous AI-based learning. In addition, the study will also seek to find out whether teachers are prepared to support this process with appropriate methods.

    The Eszterházy Károly Catholic University was the place of the "Learning and Society" Interdisciplinary International Conference on 10-12. November 2022. In this conference, 161 presentations of 331 participants from 12 countries were published their presentations in 16 sections. This event was realized in the frame of Project MEC_SZ_141117 that project has been implemented with the support provided by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Hungary from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund, financed under the MEC_SZ_21 funding scheme. The present study is a short report about this conference.

     This study explores the potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of special education. The discussion focuses on those areas of special needs education in which the implementation of AI is already supported by empirical evidence and practical experience. Accordingly, the study examines the potential uses of AI in the following domains: 1) personalized learning and adaptive educational methods; 2) the development of communication and social skills; 3) assistive technologies and accessibility supported by AI; 4) the role of AI in early diagnosis and intervention; and 5) AI-based support for teachers and assistance in designing and implementing individual development plans (IEPs).

  • THE OXIPO GAME COLLECTION FOR DEVELOPING COGNITIVE ABILITIES

    This study is a presentation of the first phase of a complex research project which aims to present the theoretical background of a new game collection (based on OxIPO model). We have compiled a game collection to improve cognitive abilities in early childhood. Concerning cognitive abilities, Affolter's (1972), Sindelar's (1994) and others' earlier developmental approaches took into account visual, auditive or motoric (inter) modalities of perception, however, we believe we need a more complex model to cover the full capability. Within the framework of the OxIPO model (Mező, 2002, 2016), learning is interpreted as an information processing process. In the OxIPO model (Field, 2002, 2016), Learning = Organization x (Input + Process + Output) allows us to control and systemize not only the input modalities but also the output modalities and also to interpret some cognitive abilities in the process phase. We have created a game-collection based on six input (visual, auditive, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile) modalities and five cognitive abilities (perception, attention, memory, conceptual thinking, problem-solving thinking) and three output (visual, auditive, motoric) modalities. The outcome of the six input modalities and the five target abilities and the three output modalities there are 90 different games that can be described by the OxIPO model. In the future, we would like to prove with empirical studies that this game collection can be used for testing and developing 90 independent cognitive abilities. On the other hand, we need to prove that these cognitive abilities indeed influence the daily lives of children and their effectiveness.

  • MUSEUM PEDAGOGICAL WORKSHOP IN THE LIGHT OF THE IPOO-MODEL

    With the spread of the visitor-friendly museum approach the professionals of the museum strive to address a visitor layer as wide as possible. It requires the professional interpretation of exhibitions for different ages. Thus, both the role of museum pedagogues and the museums as non-formal education space are appreciated increasingly. However, the nature of an exhibition also may be influenced in certain cases by the structure of the exhibition space. The Literature House of Debrecen is a long straight space divided into five smaller units, in which the permanent literature exhibition of Dreaming Hungarians can be found. The periodical exhibition with the title of ’REJTŐzködő Irodalom’ appeared in this space in a scattered way. The character of the exhibition space provided an excellent possibility for a mosaic layout and in this way for a gamified museum pedagogical activity. In our study, this method is examined in the light of the IPOO-model. The aim of the method is how to make the learning more efficient and it can also be used in an excellent way in the non-formal education environment where learning covers the presence of pieces of information conveyed by the exhibition.

    This study seeks to determine whether it is an exceptional talent and hard work, or courage mixed with young energy and luck, maybe all these together, that makes it possible for young adults with a fresh diploma in the 2010s to find their future in Europe’s labor market. Sample: n = 28 (22-35 years old) women. Method: semi-structured interview. Results: even though all the interviewees are unique, all the participants can be said to have a few things in common; persistent study and exceptional diligence paired with talent. There is, however, one more thing shared across 98% of interviewees in our research sample; when asked if they will come back to Hungary, they answered without hesitation that they didn’t think they ever would.

    The use of artificial intelligence has become increasingly popular and is frequently used as a tool among students. It has a significant impact on education and students, which is why it is important to discuss it. Students use AI to complete homework assignments, create presentations, and write essays, while some teachers either do not use it or are not even aware of its existence. Based on this, the question arises: how important is it to prepare both teachers and students for the use of artificial intelligence in the teaching and learning process? This study examines the positive and negative effects of AI on education and, through a review of the literature, summarizes the arguments for and against its use.

  • THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE LET’S TEACH FOR HUNGARY MENTORING PROGRAM

    The disadvantaged situation has been a problem in the field of education for decades, and several disadvantage-compensation programs have been set up to reduce it. This includes the mentoring process, the primary purpose of which is to provide support and assistance to a younger individual. The subjects of the research are the students participating in the Let’s teach for Hungary mentoring program. The questionnaire survey was conducted in the autumn of 2019 (n=585), during which we focused on the children's expectations of the mentoring program, their learning difficulties, learning motivation, and their plans for further learning. Students can be classified into clusters based on their motivations, which highlights that the range of participants is not homogeneous from this aspect either. The coronavirus epidemic has posed a significant challenge to traditional education, and the opportunities offered by personal mentoring have been pushed into the background over the past year and a half. Educators and students have faced numerous challenges in the transition to digital education (Kristóf, 2020). Attendance mentoring could continue in the form of distance mentoring. In our current research, we examine the existence of distance mentoring, the exploration of experiences, and the preparedness of the participants in the Teach for Hungary program. Data collection began in December 2021, and the query process is still ongoing. We carry out the survey using a mixed method. We collect quantitative data among students with the help of questionnaires, which focus on the experiences, opinions, and readiness of the children. In addition, we use a qualitative, interview-based research method that provides an understanding of more comprehensive experiences. We conduct interviews with educators, mentors, and mentored students. The subjects of the research are primary school students, mentors, and teachers of a small settlement in Hajdú-Bihar county and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county (n=60 people).

    According to Mező's IPOO-model of learning, learning is a kind of information processing, which has got four different, but a related component. These components are input, process, output, and organization. This model is useable to analyzing and to diagnostic and to develop a wide range of learning phenomenons (from personality development to the development of learning strategies and abilities). The present study gives a short summarize of possibilities of ability diagnostics and development in the theoretical frame of the IPOO-model.

     

  • THE SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND SOCIAL MOBILITY: AN EXAMPLE FROM HODÁSZ

    The paper examines the social mobility process of Romani youngsters in a settlement that is in one of the most disadvantaged regions of Hungary. Hodász became the centre of interest due to the relevant research concerning the mobility issue, because here, just contrary to the communities have similar sociocultural features, there are number of young Romani who could stand out by learning. The author interprets in wider aspects the determinative local norms, and the scale of values of local Vlach Romani community make possible for lots of local youngsters, that they can be graduated. In the second part of the paper the reader can understand the intellectual career by three studies, and consequently the social integration doesn’t automatically yield social mobility. In the situational analyses of Hodász example can be circumscribed the specific preconditions of intellectual career in the case of the young Romani and disadvantageous.

  • USING DIFFERENT TEACHING STYLES AND THE IPOO MODEL

    Quality PE teaching requires the application of a wide variety of both direct and indirect teaching methods. The aim of our research is to examine the efficiency of teacher-centered (DM) and student-centered (IM) methodology in accordance with the IPOO model (Mező, 2011) in all fields of sports education. The action research was carried out in year five in two classes (n=46): the focus was on developmental aims in handball prescribed in the curriculum. On the basis of the IPOO model lessons in the DM (sample) and IM (control) classes were held through 4 weeks, 2 lessons a week. Students’ motivation in PE was examined with H-PMCSQ-2 questionnaire during the last lesson; while basic technical handball skills were examined before and after the experiment. Results show that indirect teaching methods have a more complex educational effect; it could influence important cognitive and affective domains.

  • STUDENTS' ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE USE OF FILM SEQUENCES TO IDENTIFY THE DEVELOPMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

    The current study highlights the attitude of students toward the use of film sequences, as educational resources used in the course of Psychopedagogy of people with intellectual disabilities, in the online learning environment. The participants in the study were students (N = 28) in the 2nd year, who follow the Special Psycho-pedagogy study program. The research method was a questionnaire-based survey. The working tool contains 23 questions, which were developed by the authors for this research. In the introductory part, in addition to the synthesis of the specialized literature, we briefly presented the aspects related to the management of the university course, in a pandemic context, by presenting the ways in which the film sequences were used to achieve the objectives of the discipline. The results of the descriptive study show that students show a positive attitude towards the use of film sequences in teaching, learning, and final assessment activities. Thus, the students consider that the film sequences used in the course activities facilitate the understanding of the theoretical information from the course support, about the particularities in the development of people with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, the film sequences used for assessing knowledge in the final exam took students out of their comfort zone of passively taking the theoretical information and giving an answer during the online assessment tests. The research findings highlight the practical implications and future directions of research to ensure good management of course activities in the online learning environment.

    Background and aims: An important issue of teaching and learning processes is how to assess and develop students’ cognitive abilities. The aim of the study is to examine the correlation between in class 5 and 8 class measured skill levels' attention, memory, and thinking. Assumption: The correlation is between the pre-tested skills level and the post-tested skills level in the pilot group. The students with better skills have developed better during testing than the students with lower skills. Method: During the survey, I monitored the progression of students brought under a group (n=174) who in development activities took part in 4 years. The follow-up of the participants' memory, attention, and thinking was done with tests known in talent management. Results: There is a strong, positive correlation between attention, memory, and thinking. Discussion: The strong positive correlation indicates that the students with better skills show greater development than the students with lower skills. The initial benefits appear in point of the chance of development.

  • RESEARCH OF YOUTH RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

    In the publication, we examined recreational activities, highlighting the role of physical recreational activities. For our study, we constructed an online questionnaire, which was completed using social media (N = 158). Our results confirmed that people consider regular exercise important to maintain health (94.30%), however, in their free time, in addition to physical recreational activities, there are also activities that strengthen a sedentary, sedentary lifestyle. Our respondents meet their friends the most in their free time (69.62%), but many also play sports at this time (64.56%). Popular leisure habits are also the internet, playing online games (55.06%), and reading and learning (46.83%). The most popular physical activity among our respondents is cycling (66.46%), walking, Nordic walking (64.55%), and running (60.13%), and the most popular locations are parks and sports fields (55.69%), however, many perform these activities on their way to work and school (42.41%).

  • Effect of Two Instructional (Project And Inquiry ) Strategies on Students’ Achievement in Selected Biological Abstract Concepts

    The purpose of this study was to ascertain how two instructional strategies—project and inquiry—affect students' mastery of particular abstract biological concepts. The study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. 120 SS II Biology students were chosen at random from six coeducational schools located in two Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state of Kwara. Treatment groups were assigned to participants at random. The Biology Student Achievement Test (r=0.88) and the Teachers' Instructional Guide on Project and Inquiry Strategies were the instruments utilised. Two theories were developed and put to the test at the significance level of 0.05. The intervention had a significant main effect on students' achievement on a subset of selected biological abstract concepts (F(2, 107) =12.061; p<0.05, partial η2 = 0.184), according to an analysis of covariance conducted on the gathered data. The students in the Conventional Strategy (CS) control group have the lowest adjusted mean achievement values (x ̅ = 17.20), whereas the students in the Project Strategy (PS) treatment group 1 have the highest adjusted mean achievement values (x ̅ = 23.21). It is indicated that PS > IS > CS is the order. The mean growth in accomplishment values for male students was higher at 21.94, compared to 17.13 for female students. Project and inquiry methodologies should be implemented in order to raise students' accomplishment in biology's abstract concepts, according to the findings.
