    The ground of our study is institutional research which refers to the University of Debrecen Faculty of Education for Children and Special Educational Needs. The respondents were second-year full-time students. Our aim was to reveal what features this faculty’s students have if we compare our data to nationwide or regional empirical findings.  Our empirical findings have pointed out the disadvantageous features of our students (lower rate of parents with a degree, higher rate of students from villages, etc.). These phenomena can be explained with the special social background of the training courses, the criteria of attendance, and the geographic location of the institution.

  • INVESTIGATION OF DEMAND AND SUPPLY ELEMENTS OF LEISURE SPORTS IN THE HEALTH TOURISM OF NORTHERN GREAT PLAIN REGION

    Nowadays, leisure and recreational trends justify the significant appearance of health-conscious consumers, among whom the need for various recreational sports and fitness services is formulated during their holiday, to which the hotel offerings are adapted. The aim of our research was to analyze leisure sports offerings of hotels in the Northern Great Plain region (n = 39) and the development of hotel guests (n = 141) demand for leisure sports and fitness services. The results of our research confirmed, that 23.4% of the guests are influenced by the recreational- and 19.1% by the sports elements of the hotel offerings. 62.4% of those surveyed find it important to have the possibility for leisure activities during their stay, and 70.2% of them use these services during their stay. Music and dance forms of exercise, outdoor sports (cycling, hiking), and fitness room services have proven to be the most popular. The preference system of males and females differed, in which we could identify a significant difference: while females preferred yoga and the conditioning treadmill, males preferred the use of free weights.

  • THE EXPERIENCES OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PRESCHOOLS IN THE LIGHT OF A KINDERGARTEN RESEARCH IN HAJDÚBÖSZÖRMÉNY

    The literature and research on physiotherapy in Hungary are not as complete as the research on physical education, so this article is also incomplete. Our research aimed to report on the experiences of physiotherapy sessions for preschool children within the physical education sector, as this area is less researched. Our research presents the experiences of children and their parents who have participated in pre-school physiotherapy in a sample of children attending the Good Shepherd Reformed Kindergarten in Hajdúböszörmény. The results are presented based on the analysis of a questionnaire filled in by 50 parents and an interview with the physiotherapy teacher who teaches in the kindergarten. The survey shows that 8% of parents of preschool children did not know that their child was attending such sessions, 92% of parents were informed, but 20% did not know how many development sessions their child was attending. The majority of parents follow up on their child's development, but consider the information provided by the teacher to be insufficient. The vast majority of parents were also aware of their child's diagnosis. Parents' opinions showed that they consider the existence of physiotherapy sessions important, as they consider it essential for the effective development of a growing organism. Parents also noted positive effects of physiotherapy sessions, such as improved posture, flexibility, reduced orthopaedic deformities, increased endurance, or improved dexterity and hand-foot coordination. Another important aspect, according to parents, is that these sessions are free of charge, take place during nursery school hours and they are playful. According to the physiotherapy teacher, the number of sessions is not sufficient to achieve optimal improvement, given that the vast majority of children only receive development in kindergarten. These results are useful and can be used in the training of kindergarten teachers or further training courses.

    The essence of man is movement. It is true that the need for exercise varies at different age stages, but movement and its developmental role and positive impact accompany us throughout our lives. Movement development determines the development of the abilities of healthy and disabled children, which is manifested in the improvement of not only motor but also cognitive abilities. In our article, we present the theoretical foundations of movement development and development by analyzing secondary literature. We highlight and present the methodological features related to movement development that can be used in the field of special education, which can help children with special needs or disabilities to overcome their ability disadvantages.

  • ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE LIGHT OF TALENT, HEALTH AND SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS

    Background and aim: Academic achievement is determined by several intra- and interpersonal factors. Talent is an internal factor whose role in academic progress is unquestionable (Dávid et al., 2014a; Mező, 2008; Ceglédi, 2008). Health awareness is also an internal factor that has a significant effect on academic achievement, considering the positive effect of regular physical activity and positive self-image, and body image within the latter (Kovács, 2020). Also, interpersonal and environmental factors need to be emphasized, as adequate social support can significantly improve performance and can also play a crucial role in disadvantage compensation (Szemerszki, 2015; Ceglédi 2012). However, deficits of these factors (of which exclusion is very severe, for example) have the opposite effect. In our research, we examined the role of self-assessed talent preferences, self-satisfaction, regular physical activity, and coping with exclusion among the students of the University of Debrecen (N=159). Results: Based on the results of the linear regression analysis, exclusion itself has a negative effect on academic achievement, but self-satisfaction and coping with exclusion show a positive effect. Our results draw attention to the importance of social relationships and prevention of exclusion, as it is clear that social exclusion has a long-term impact on self-esteem and higher academic achievement, and is stronger the earlier it appears.

    In our paper, those international processes are studied which determine the role and effectiveness of public education in the international and Hungarian context. We try to examine what globalization processes the school fits into; what positive or negative confirmation the interventions cause in the education system. In the Hungarian situation besides the segregation and integration, the selectivity of the education system can be also seen and is also shown in the study. The paradigm shifts in public education, the role of the inclusive school are presented through the Hungarian integration efforts. To sum up, an implemented integration program is also introduced where the experts’ efforts are put in the center of the topic.

  • ACCESSIBLE TOURISM SERVICES IN THE NORTH GREAT PLAIN REGION

    In the ever-increasing competition between the tourist destinations, the rethinking of the primary and secondary attraction factors (Bácsné et. al., 2018), their re-planning, supplementation, and development are indispensable. This is also true for Hungary and the Northern Great Plain region, where the availability of therapeutic and thermal water is a priority factor (Müller & Könyves, 2006; Müller & Kórik 2009; Michalkó & Rácz 2011;  Löwei 2017). The further development towards accessible tourism, even for a long-standing, well-established destination in health tourism is to be considered, in order service providers not only could strengthen their existing position but also open up to new markets and consumer groups (Mosonyi et. al. 2013, Lengyel 2015).  The understanding and implementation of strategies for new consumer groups include the product and service evaluation based on individual leisure constraints.

  • THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY IN EMPLOYMENT AMONG UNDERGRADUATES

    The role of the family as the arena for primary socialization is significant throughout our lives. The cultural capital, parental role models, and relationship with siblings all have a tremendous impact on academic and non-academic achievement, social networking, intra- and intergenerational embeddedness, and employment during studies. However, a change in family structure can negatively affect a child’s development, decrease his or her academic and non-academic achievement (Engler, 2016), and also causes a higher prevalence of health risk behaviours (Kovács and Nagy, 2017). In addition, due to the lower level of financial capital provided by the family, young people who have grown up in a non-intact family structure are often forced to work during their university or even high school studies to ensure their self-preservation. In our research, we examined the attitudes of the students studying at the University of Debrecen towards family and work in the light of the family structure, covering childhood storytelling experiences (BEST 2020). In addition to demographic issues, changes in family structure, childhood storytelling habits, and work-related attitudes were examined (N=159). 25.6% of the students’ parents are divorced, 24.3% grew up with their mother. 86.5% of the parents read tales in childhood, mostly (75%) every day, typically mothers. No significant difference could have been detected in childhood storytelling experiences based on family structure (p=0.322). Although the ratio of employment is higher among children of divorced parents, a significant difference is found at the beginning of employment. Based on the results, parents try to support university studies at least partly, but they are unlikely able to provide other resources that could force students to work. Based on our results, it can be stated that the role of the family in the early employment of young people is also significant, and the change in the family structure increases the proportion of employment besides university studies, which is mainly due to the family's financial situation.

    It is worth taking various preventive measures against the sedentary lifestyle, inadequate nutrition, and the harmful effects of stress on health. Swimming can be an excellent tool for this, which people consider to be one of the healthiest sports. How do people feel about this form of movement? Are you aware of the areas in which it is having a multifaceted positive impact? We sought answers to these and similar questions in our research. The study involved 126 people, all over the age of 40. Our method was an online questionnaire. Our results show that the multifaceted, positive effects of swimming are largely known to people, but there are still problem areas that are worth further investigation.

    One kind of effectiveness study of developmental programs compares results of an experimental group and a control group (when the data collecting happened only once). This paper offers methodological guidance to choose, apply and interpret adequate mathematical statistic analysis of these studies. Using R environment (this is a downable free software) is recommended to compute statistical results.

  • HYPERACTIVE CHILD IN THE CLASS

    In the last decade, the issue of school education of children struggling with learning and behavioral disorder has come to the front in domestic as well as foreign pedagogies. The recognition and judgment of hyperactivity are characterized by uncertainty and extremes since increasingly all lively kids with excessive movement are labeled hyperactive. In turn, early detection of the disorders would enable children to get appropriate help. The following study consists of two main parts: a theoretical and a practical one. The practical part introduces concrete case studies assisting the early detection. The behavioral forms of three hyperactive children and their characteristic symptoms are explicated more broadly taking into consideration the family and school circumstances. It also aligns the forms of assistance and help in schools and gives concrete ideas and advice to teachers.

    The main purpose of ours degree work is to present multiculturalism, the importance, and necessity of multicultural rearing, and the way it is realized in Vojvodina. We also touched upon the conceptual origin and complexity of culture, because without culture there is no multiculturalism and the concept of multicultural rearing could have not been created either. Today we all live in a multicultural environment in which we are in touch, we meet or live together with nations of different cultures day by day, whether we want to or not. For this exact reason, it is very important for people to become aware of the significance of their own culture and be sensitive to other cultural traditions in the same environment. They should express willingness to accept and get acquainted with other nations which might greatly differ in their tradition, habits, identity, and religion. This is the only way we can create a peaceful world.

  • STUDENTS' ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE USE OF FILM SEQUENCES TO IDENTIFY THE DEVELOPMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

    The current study highlights the attitude of students toward the use of film sequences, as educational resources used in the course of Psychopedagogy of people with intellectual disabilities, in the online learning environment. The participants in the study were students (N = 28) in the 2nd year, who follow the Special Psycho-pedagogy study program. The research method was a questionnaire-based survey. The working tool contains 23 questions, which were developed by the authors for this research. In the introductory part, in addition to the synthesis of the specialized literature, we briefly presented the aspects related to the management of the university course, in a pandemic context, by presenting the ways in which the film sequences were used to achieve the objectives of the discipline. The results of the descriptive study show that students show a positive attitude towards the use of film sequences in teaching, learning, and final assessment activities. Thus, the students consider that the film sequences used in the course activities facilitate the understanding of the theoretical information from the course support, about the particularities in the development of people with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, the film sequences used for assessing knowledge in the final exam took students out of their comfort zone of passively taking the theoretical information and giving an answer during the online assessment tests. The research findings highlight the practical implications and future directions of research to ensure good management of course activities in the online learning environment.

    In order to carry out effectiveness study of the development programs (e.g. education, children with special needs) based on mathematical-statistical methods, the following factors are important: 1) you need some basic mathematical definitions (Math et all., 2015), 2) a statistical software (e.g.: the ’R’) at a reasonable price, 3) some experience in working with this software. The ’R’ is free downloadable software (that can be applied in mathematical-statistical calculations too) which can be a very useful instrument of research of children who need special treatment. This paper provides a practical solution in connection with the last two factors and introduces language ’R’ and its possibilities.

  • INVESTIGATION OF RECREATIONAL CONSUMER HABITS AMONG HUNGARIAN YOUNG ADULTS

    Background: In our modern world the importance of how are we able to spend our leisure time is getting more and more significant. This approach is particularly important regarding youngsters. The generations of Y and Z are mainly mobile and they all were born in the world determined by electronics, where everything can be accessed and managed online via the internet.  Because of this comfort, leisure time has been more passive, and unfortunately, the physical activity has not had recently as important significance as it was before. Results: Our paper conducted a survey about the leisure time habits of young adults and youngsters under 30 years old age. The results were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 software, we looked at baseline statistics and performed a Chi2 test with a gamma coefficient in a cross-table analysis. The focus has been placed on revealing potential differences in residence and net monthly income per capita. The results confirmed that respondents in the capital are more likely to engage in daily sports activities, while those who are living in villages are more likely to spend their free time with physical activity. Conclusion: We found that there is no justification for the big difference between one's leisure time spending and income. Outdoor activities received lower ratings from respondents with a net monthly income of fewer than 100,000 Ft per person.

  • HUNGARIAN YOUNG PEOPLE’S FREE TIME ACTIVITIES IN VOJVODINA

    Nowadays the lifestyle of most people is characterised by improper food intake and by a sedentary lifestyle. Especially in childhood, great attention should be paid to this, because children’s habits can be formed at this age and for their development, it is very important to eat properly and healthy and to exercise regularly. During the research, elementary school children’s nutritional status was determined and their physical activity was measured using the PAQ-C (physical activity questionnaire) questionnaire. The partial results of the research show that among boys there is more overweight person, even so, they do more sports regularly and they are more active during breaks between classes. Among sports, football is dominant in the case of the boys and basketball is dominant in the case of the girls. The work presented partial results of the research carried out during the Vojvodina provincial project 142-451-2637/2019-01.

    Pedagogues, kindergarten pedagogues, special needs teachers (also known as remedial teachers), and psychologists – just a few of those people who can create and use development programs. These programs are expected to be proven in their effects by using mathematical analysis. However, it doesn’t happen in every case – partly due to a shortage of definitions of mathematical statistics, methodology problems, and expensive software. This paper is a theoretical summary of the mathematical-statistical analysis of effectiveness studies of remedial courses designed for those who live with special needs.

  • ROMA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' IDEAS ON THE CHOICE OF PARTNERS:

    Finding the right partner can improve the individual’s financial situation, help him/her achieve his/her goals, and support his/her mental health. It may also have an impact on the integration of Roma partners into the majority of society. Roma young people studying in higher education may have different options of choosing a partner than their (Roma) lower-educated peers. The cost of further education is often the lack of early marriage, which is common in the traditional Roma community, while the benefit can be the development of a wider network of contacts by getting to know university colleagues. In our research, we examined the choice of a partner of a special group of Roma university students, the Roma college students concerning their ideas about this and their practical implementation. The study is based on the EVS (European Value Survey) questionnaire on relationships filled in by the respondents and structured life path interviews (N=186). Based on the survey, the college students included in the study did not consider the origin of their partner to be relevant, while in practice they preferred a similar partner related to the origin and education. The Roma college can also function as a field for choosing partners, and many of the students have chosen their partners from here. In Roma colleges, students are placed in a peer community that supports them through further education. Among their peers, they can even find a partner who is similar to them not only in his/her origin but also in his/her education.

  • DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOCIAL COMPETENCE OF CHILDREN FROM AN UNDERPRIVILEGED BACKGROUND

    In September 2010, by the introduction of the educational reform in Serbia, namely the introduction of inclusion, the number of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and multiple disadvantaged backgrounds has significantly increased. From September 2013, the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Education in Hungarian Language, Subotica and University of Szeged, Gyula Juhász Faculty of Education, Institute of Adult Education worked out a program, in which the students of these two Universities participated as mentors in the compensatory education of disadvantaged children. The purpose of the present study is to introduce the structure of the Student Mentoring Program that serves as an excellent example for other schools. According to in-service teachers, one of the long-term positive outcomes of the mentoring program is the development of the social competencies of disadvantaged children.

    This paper offers methodological guidance to the mathematical-statistical analysis of criterium-oriented effectiveness studies (in case of examining one sample, when we compare the observed values to a criterium value of a development plan) of development programs for children who need special treatment. We provide practical help to choose the adequate mathematical-statistical test for examining differences in the case of one sample (see: Abari et all, 2015), to create commands for R statistical software, as well as to the interpretation of R results.

    This paper offers methodological guidance to the mathematical-statistical analysis of self-controlled (pre-test - development - post-test type) effectiveness studies of development programs written for children who need special treatment. After summarising the basic terms we show what kind of commands can be given to a downloadable free software (it is the R language), and how we can interpret the results of statistical calculations done by the software.
