Analysis of practice of sustainability reports
43-52Views:219The responsibility of companies to reduce the negative effects of climate change is obvious. The transition from a traditional linear economy to a circular economy means an increasing burden on companies. Besides the adequate financial performance, more and more emphasis is being placed on environmental performance. This study examines the non-financial sustainability reporting practices of 20 companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The analysis used non-financial reports of companies with the highest market capitalization between 2020 and 2022. The analysis results support that the reports of environmentally sensitive companies are more extensive and detailed concerning investigated aspects. The details and length of the companies’ ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) reports increased during the three years examined. The environmental and social aspects of disclosed documents are more detailed for the banks, the oil extraction, and the telecommunication companies. In the company sample examined, it can be observed that most of the reports are prepared according to the GRI regulation. It can also be observed that the companies examined made more detailed and longer reports. The research results also support the fact that the aspects of the ESG report (E, S, G) also depend on the sector in which the companies operate.

Netnographic study of the conscious internet appearance of hungarian and regional public transport companies
1-12Views:186There has been intense competition between companies in recent years to hire and retain employees. During the coronavirus epidemic, this competition intensified. In response to the changes in the labour market, this challenge on the part of employers requires new methods, and employer branding has increasingly come to the fore. With the reorganization of the communication channels, online appearance came to the fore, including the use of social networking sites for employers and employees. The subject of my study is the employer branding of companies interested in the public transport on the Internet, primarily on social media sites, including the popular Instagram site. The purpose of the study is to present the importance of employer branding in the online space, the topics that can be displayed on social media sites and the given reactions, and the effectiveness and impact of online appearance. In my research, I used the method of netnography to reveal the differences and similarities in the appearance of social enterprises, the subjects of my investigation were international and domestic transport companies. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that social enterprises are using social networking sites more and more widely and with increasing intensity in many topics, including employer branding, but effectiveness can be increased with a targeted appearance, since social topics and the display of content related to responsibility elicit measurable reactions. They also discovered that social media is a suitable interface for presenting company activities and creating an identity as a tool.

SOME SPECIFICITIES OF THE CURRENT ASSETS OF HUNGARIAN DISTRICT HEATING SUPPLIERS BASED ON THE ANNUAL REPORTS OF 2009-2017
34-41Views:155The present study focuses on the asset-structure of the Hungarian district heating suppliers with a special interest in their current ratio and the structure of their current assets. The research is aimed toward the examination of the current ratio and the structure of the assets serving short-term obligations and toward finding the characteristics of these companies in terms of their liquidity. The study also aims to find specificities characterizing the sector of district heating supply that can later be used for other research purposes. In terms of its methodology, it is based on report analyses with the reports of 72 Hungarian companies as sample population. Data retrieved from the reports is complemented with certain technical and economic information and analyzed in the time frame of nine years (2009-2017).

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS OF LISTED COMPANIES OF VISEGRAD COUNTRIES AND ROMANIA
8-17Views:223In this study, listed companies of 5 countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania) were analyzed between 2014 and 2018. The data was downloaded from www.EMIS.com. Financial institutions and companies with too many missing data and those that were not full period listed on the stock exchange were removed from the dataset. The main aim of the research was to compare the performance of the listed companies on the stock exchanges of countries examined. First, there was analyzed performance indicators, then market indicators. Using variance analysis, there was investigated the differences between countries based on ROS, ROA, ROE ratios, which then was expanded to include some market ratios. Based on the results, it can be stated that due to the difference in the number of listed companies and the size of the companies, large variations can be observed both within and between countries. No best country can be determined because almost all of the indicators perform better in different countries during the period examined. It is important to note that earnings per unit capital are the highest in Hungary and the Czech Republic, so investors are likely to expect higher returns in these countries. During the analysis of variance, there could not be found in many ratios with significant differences between countries over the years investigated.

There are numerous different frameworks and different methods of performance assessment in the scientific literature and in business practice. With the expansion of globalisation and the emergence of a new economy, the focus on this topic is even more prominent. The aim of the present article is to review the literature on performance assessment and to describe two selected frameworks in more detail.

Study of employee performance measurement, evaluation and management practices in tourism and catering companies in Szeklerland(with special reference to Harghita county)
22-32Views:102As a resource, people are one of the most important factors in the modern economy. From a subjective measurement approach, it can form the basis of business performance measurement. In this research, I am looking for answers to the question: what does business practice show, and how consistent is it with theoretical findings? The results of the research show that companies operating in the hospitality sector in Harghita County are consistently aware of the fact that employee performance contributes greatly to company performance. For this very reason, employee guidance, performance monitoring and feedback are considered significantly important. Employee performance is measured and evaluated informally, often on a monthly basis. The standardised, formal form of measurement, on the other hand, is only done annually, from time to time when necessary. However, its frequency increases significantly with the size of the company. Companies are moderately satisfied with the current employee performance measurement and evaluation. They are therefore aware that there is room for improvement. In their opinion, the introduction of a performance management system in the future would make a significant contribution to solving the problems discussed in the research. In doing so, it would also contribute to the improving of the company's business performance at the same time. Our development objective could be to provide guidance in this area for the future.

Working capital analysis of pharmaceutical companies in Central Europe
1-13Views:25The pharmaceutical industry has huge market potential and investment opportunities, while pharmaceutical players also face a number of challenges, such as regulating the production and pricing of active pharmaceutical ingredients, protecting intellectual property and competing with other players. As a key sector of the Hungarian economy, the industry generates a significant share of GDP and has grown dynamically in recent years, the aim of our study is to compare the activities of Hungarian industry players with sectoral companies in other Visegrad countries, and thus to examine the similarities and differences in the liquidity management of the pharmaceutical industries in these countries. The analysis was based on the annual accounts of regional pharmaceutical companies for the period 2018-2022, extracted from the EMIS database. The period covered included several globally significant events, and therefore our research also examined the impact of the coronavirus epidemic and the war in Ukraine on pharmaceutical companies and whether there were differences between the Central European countries. Overall, sectoral players in each of the region's countries were able to keep their indebtedness under control and, although Hungarian companies were able to manage the largest assets, by the end of the period the working capital efficiency of Polish companies was better than their regional competitors overall.

COMPARATIVE EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS OF THE AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES IN HUNGARY AND ROMANIA
41-48Views:93Performance measurement is of fundamental importance in all sectors of the national economy. However, this is especially true for agriculture because more efficient management is becoming increasingly important in this sector as well as well to supply the population with adequate food. The study examines the performance of Romanian and Hungarian agricultural companies. A total of 5,390 companies were selected for the analysis database, of which 3,789 were Romanian and 1,601 were Hungarian. In the performance analysis, the companies’ efficiency was examined between 2018 and 2020 using the Data Envelopment Analysis method. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the Romanian agricultural companies operate with statistically significantly lower efficiency than the Hungarian ones. However, it can also be concluded that the average efficiency of enterprises is very low in both countries. The performance is low, even considering the averages of the sub-sector efficiency coefficients. There is no year when the average efficiency ratio in any sector exceeds 50%. On the other hand, the sub-sector analysis of Oilseeds and Cereals shows that, especially in Romania, the proportion of companies with an efficiency coefficient below 50% is very high. Similar conclusions can be made regarding the poultry and egg production subsector. Further research is needed to reveal the reasons more precisely for the low efficiency of agricultural companies.

ANALYSIS OF THE OPERABILITY OF CORPORATIONS OWNED BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT WITH BANKRUPTVY MODELS

During the study, I analyzed the liquidity and equity ratio of corporations performing public functions, according to three years. I compared these values with the results calculated of bankruptcy prediction models (Chinese and Indian models). As a result of the investigation, we could realize that the bankruptcy prediction model shows a considerably more pessimistic picture than the values of the indicators.

Examination of the Notes to the financial statement through the example of enterprises engaged in sports activities

Only a company that is in possession of the necessary information is able to meet the challenges of business life. One source of public information might be the annual statement prepared and published in accordance with the stipulations of Act C of 2000. The annual statement consists of three parts: the balance sheet, the profit and loss account and the notes to the financial statement. The text-based information of the notes to the financial statement are for the more accurate interpretation of numerical data. The notes to the financial statement of certain market participants (consumers, suppliers, competitors, etc.) might support efficient operation of companies, their proper decision-making and risk assessment. In present study, the notes to the financial statement of companies identifying sports activities (Hungarian NACE 931) as their primary activity were utilized. By means of text mining, it was examined what information these notes to the financial statement include from amongst the mandatory information required by the Accounting Act.

Examining the Leverage and Capital Structure of the Quasi Fiscal Sector in Hungary

The advantages of performing tasks through companies owned by the municipality include the flexible adaptation to market conditions and integration into the relation network of the economy. Some research works have proved, however, that their operation is rather risky. In the frames of the research I reviewed the reports of companies and compared the indices formed, evaluating primarily the profitability, indebtedness, asset structure and solvency. In regard to the liabilities of the examined companies, the dominance of short-term liabilities, increasing receivables and the profitable management were clear phenomena in most cases within the sample.

The largest companies employ a special, so-called ‘risk manager’, who has extensive experti se and considerable experience on the basis of which he considers, analyses, compares various opti ons and makes decisions bearing in mind the interests of his company. The three quarters of agricultural products are semi-fi nished products or processed food products; therefore the Product Liability Act can be interpreted more easily in the case of agricultural products. I am convinced that preference is given to those companies and products that meet the strict criteria and have been given a clean product certi fi cati on, which means that they are polluti on-free products and have a product liability insurance.

Profitability of exponential and simple moving average crossover strategy and the profitability of trend trading
34-42Views:132The study focused on trading based on the signals of indicators, specifically examining a strategy using moving average crossovers. One of the main purposes of the paper was to analyse the efficiency differences between the simple and exponential moving average crossover strategies. Additionally, the study explored the impact of trend-following trading on the performance of indicators. The research tested the performance of indicators using the example of companies with the highest market capitalization. The main conclusion of the article is that there was no superior indicator in cases of the examined stocks. Furthermore, during periods of predominantly rising trends, the buy-and-hold strategy outperformed the active trading strategy based on indicators.

First of all with the change of the leadership attitude can reach the environmentally conscious organization that can support the reduction of the emissions, so the improvement of the atmospherical CO2 concentration. In my study I’m going to present what possibilities do the companies have to reduce their emissions and how these improvements could be harmonized with the profit interests (with the reduce of electricity-, water-, and gas consumption).

Characteristics of retention management in the light of domestic research experience

The aim of this paper is to explore and analyse the key factors that affect staff retention. It also aims to explore the specificities of the domestic labour market and the retention management practices of companies. In order to identify and collect these factors, I conducted a systematic literature review in Google Scholar, MTMT, Web of Science and the Online Encyclopedia of Public Service databases, examining studies published between 2020. and 2023. Based on the research findings, I believe that prioritizing the well-being of employees is key to workforce retention. It is important to create a constructive, supportive work environment where employees can enjoy their work and feel valued and well treated. They should also receive regular feedback on their work, feel satisfied with the working environment, and have the opportunity to work as part of a team, develop professionally and have opportunities for career progression.

VALUATION AND APPEARANCE OF HUMAN RESOURCES IN CORPORATE ASSETS
24-31Views:122A significant part of the value of a company is represented by intangible resources, which can be referred to under various names in the scientific literature (e.g. intellectual capital, intangible assets, knowledge capital, etc.). In the scope of the present study, the importance of valuing human resources and possible valuation methods are presented. Human resource accounting is mentioned in a number of academic works, but no unified definition has emerged for describing the term. The human value added model is also discussed, which provides the adjusted value of the company by adding the human assets to the assets side of the balance sheet and the human capital with the related future payment obligations of the employees to the liabilities side. Expert suggestions are also presented, according to which human assets should also be depreciated by means of a certain method or revalued at regular intervals. The provisions of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are mentioned, as IFRS also regulate the recognition of future employee expenses and the recognition of internally generated intangible assets and intangible assets acquired in business combinations.

ESG among hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises

Regulations that were initially only mandatory for bigger, listed companies will in the future also apply to smaller and unlisted companies due to the expectations of supply chains, bank financing and other stakeholders. The aim of this study is to present the attitude of Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) towards sustainability criteria through secondary data collection. As a primary research, I used an online questionnaire to assess whether the management of Hungarian SMEs are aware of the ESG framework, to what extent they integrate sustainability criteria into their business activities, whether they are part of their business strategy, and how they relate to sustainability reporting. I will also take a look at the motivational factors behind the implementation of ESG considerations by Hungarian SMEs and the factors influencing disclosure practices.
