ANALYSIS OF THE SPEECH PERCEPTION AND READING TECHNIQUES OF 3 AND 4 GRADE CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITY
87-107Views:312The current study focuses on the outstanding role of speech processing in the processes of reading and learning of reading. Its importance and actuality are the shaping attitudes of the special needs teachers because the study shows the causes of certain symptoms. We searched for the answer to the relationship between the speech and reading processes of 3rd and 4th-grade children with mild intellectual disabilities. We touched upon the aspects of perception, the functioning of text comprehension compared with sentence comprehension, and the different levels of reading. The experimental group consisted of 26 pupils and the control group consisted of 25 children. Both of the researched areas were studied by standardized methods: the speech process was studied by GMP-diagnostics and the reading by the reading paper of Meixner. The results show the serious delay of development of every studied level of speech processing which causes remarkable difficulty in the quality of reading and reading comprehension. All this information draws attention to the necessity of prevention and the development of speech perception in education.

Challenges of Guidance and Counselling Students During Practicum Exercise
75-84Views:116Practicum is a platform designed for counsellors-in-training to assist them to become full professional counsellors. Practicum exercise is one of the major processes for gaining mastery of key concepts in counselling. The detached between theory and practice is a major challenge. This research, therefore focused on the challenges of guidance and counselling students in University of Ilorin during practicum. The descriptive study was adopted in this study. The researcher employed the use of simple random technique to select 220 undergraduate students in the Department of Counsellor Education University of Ilorin. The developed questionnaire was titled “Challenges of Practicum Exercise Questionnaire (CPEQ)”. This was adopted to gather information from the respondents. The instrument had a reliability coefficient of 0.70. The demographic data were analyzed using percentages. Hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The obtained result showed that lack of adequate facilities for practicum exercise, inadequate mastery of counselling skills and inability to synthesize concepts during presentation are the major challenges. All the hypotheses were accepted. Based on these findings, it was recommended that students in training should constantly engage in micro counselling in the laboratory, this will assist them to gain mastery of counselling procedures and thereby overcome challenges on the field.

EARLY INTERVENTION IN THE LIGHT OF A RESEARCH
17-32Views:673Nowadays, the number of children with special educational needs (SEN) is increasing, which poses new challenges for both parents and educators. It is therefore important to research this topic from the perspective of parents and professionals. At the beginning of 2019, we conducted a questionnaire survey on early intervention in Hajdú-Bihar and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties. The online and paper-based questionnaires were processed by parents (N = 103) and professionals (N = 106) (kindergarten teacher, special education teacher, conductor, etc.), for a total of 209 questionnaires. Data collection was anonymous and participation was voluntary. After processing the data in the questionnaire, we analyzed the obtained results using an Excel spreadsheet and a SPSS statistical program. The results show that both parents (76,7%) and professionals (71.7%) believe that the development of children with SNI was fully or strongly influenced by integration, i.e., they were positively assessed. Parents of healthy children accept integration, in different settings (43.7% of respondents in kindergarten, 37.9% in school, 67% in the playground) fully accept children with special educational needs who accompany their intact child.).

THE KAFALA SYSTEM: EXPLORING INTERSECTIONALITYIN THE INTEGRATION OF MIGRANT WORKERS TO THE LABOR MARKET IN JORDAN

While many research attempts have delved into disclosing the restricted and exploitative aspects of the varying experience of the migrant workers, there is still a dearth of attempts that explore the way the migrant workers flexibly and strategically employ their multiple and intersecting identities to seek upward professional and social mobility. Through the implementation of an intersectional and actor-centered approach, and the use of a qualitative design, this project seeks to explore the dynamic interaction between migrant actors and representatives of institutions in Jordan. By pursuing a qualitative and intersectional analysis of the migrant workers’ experiences with the kafala system, the project aims to contribute to a better understanding of the interplay of transborder mobility and institutional dynamics.

CHANGING PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS THROUGH DIFFERENTIATED EDUCATION: DEVELOPMENT OF AREAS OF SELF-ESTEEM IN UPPER GRADE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Sample: n = 354 persons (177 students in the examination group, 177 students in the control group), age: 10-14 years. Method: Coopersmith's Self-esteem inventory was applied before, after, and three times during the development (a total of 5 occasions of measurement). Result: the controlled and planned differentiated development has a significant impact on positive self-esteem and school achievement.

RECRUITMENT AND FUTURE ORIENTATION OF DISADVANTEGED CHILDREN
21-38Views:330In Hungary, many children live in state care. In order to curb its social reproduction, it is important to see recruitment: Who are they? Where and why did they get into state care? We have to deal with the future vision, motivation, self-efficacy, cause-attribution, social integration of young people, and their ideas about them. The aim of our research is to explore the differences in the future orientation of disadvantaged young people living in orphanages and families, which were measurable by analyzing their study average, by using a vision questionnaire and a self-report questionnaire to reveal family background, and by using the Tenessee self-image scale. The study involved 60 children and young adults living in an orphanage and 60 children and young adults living in a family. Both groups consist of young people aged between 15 and 20, born between 1999 and 2004. The aim of the study was to compare the future orientation of the disadvantaged children living in an orphanage with the also disadvantaged children attending Arany János Talent Care Program but living in a family, and also to identify the differences or similarities between them. The statistical analysis found that there was a positive correlation between the vision questionnaire and the background questionnaire. Most of the questions in the two questionnaires are related.

PARENTAL FACTORS INFLUENCING SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS OF PUPILS IN ILORIN METROPOLIS, KWARA STATE
35-51Views:105The purpose of this study was to evaluate how parental influences affected students' academic performance in the Kwara State capital of Ilorin. Researchers have expressed worry over students' low academic performance in school, and it is commonly acknowledged that for students to fully benefit from their education, their parents must give them their entire support. The research was a survey. All primary school teachers in the city of Ilorin made up the study's population, and a mixed method approach was used on a sample of 215 respondents (of whom 200 completed questionnaires and 15 participated in interviews). Simple random and selective sampling methods were used to choose the sample. The data was gathered via a survey called the "Parental Factors Influence School Achievements of Children Questionnaire" (PFISAPQ). The factors taken into account were gender, age, educational background, and number of years of teaching experience. Demographic information was expressed as a percentage, and the two null hypotheses were tested using the 2-way ANOVA statistical tool at the 0.05 level of significance. Mean and rank order analysis was used to analyze the research questions, and thematic analysis was then used to analyze the subsequent questions raised to support the main research questions. The results showed that, among other things, parental involvement, parental oversight, parental involvement in extracurricular activities, parental academic background, parental interest in education, and parent-child relationships are the primary factors positively affecting children's academic success. Also, significant differences existed in the parental factors influencing school achievements of pupils as expressed by primary school teachers based on gender, age, educational qualification, and years of teaching experience. It was recommended that parents should be encouraged to improve their involvement in children’s academic activities by supporting them and being actively involved in encouraging pupils to learn and achieve maximally in school.

DIFFERENCES IN PURPOSES AND LIFE-GOALS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF HEALTH BEHAVIOR IN A ROMANIAN ADOLESCENT SAMPLE
19-29Views:163The goal of this research was to investigate specific personality factors theorized to be involved in adolescents’ health behavior, such as individual differences in the level of purposes in life and the variations of life goals. The instrumentation for the study was a self-completed questionnaire, which included items for assessing health-behavior data, the Purposes in Life scale, and the Aspiration Index for life-goals’ assessment. There were 385 teenage study participants aged between 16-18 years (mean = 16.8 years; 182 boys – 47.3 % and 203 girls – 52,7%) in Transylvania, Romania. Results showed that adolescents who engaged in health-protective behaviors (e.g., physical activity, fruit /vegetable consumption) reported higher levels of purposes in life and intrinsic life-goals, such as affiliation or personal growth. Conversely, those engaged in health risky behaviors (e.g., substance use, sweet/soft drink consumption) not only reported lower levels in having a purpose in life but also tended to report fewer health goals for the future as well as personal growth. These findings argue that health professionals should incorporate and emphasize the development of teenagers’ life goals and purposes in the design and conceptualization of school-based prevention and health promotion programs that focus on fostering healthy lifestyle adoption.

The Role and Importance of Obstacle Course Training for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
63-74Views:166Aim: In this study, we set out to describe the motor development deficits of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) based on existing research and to provide a methodologically based recommendation for the use of obstacle courses as a motor development tool and opportunity for children with ASD. Methods: a primary research study was conducted to present the results of semi-structured in-depth interviews with parents of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (N=25). The aim of the study was to provide a comprehensive summary of the experiences of a group of 25 interview participants whose children with autism spectrum disorder participated in an obstacle course movement development programme. The interviews explored the impact of obstacle course movement development on the children's various skills (motor, social, communication and emotional/behavioural). Results: the parents' experiences confirmed that the obstacle course physical activity programme, which was provided for at least six months, was not only effective in developing children's gross motor and fine motor skills, but also led to positive changes in social relationships, social skills, communication skills and emotional behaviour.

NAZARETH SCHOOL AS A STIMULUS IN THE BIBLICAL FORMATION OF THE FAMILY COMMUNITY AGNUS DEI
103-108Views:146Every family seeks encouragement for their spiritual and sociological growth. This article brings research among 30 members of the Agnus Dei family community. We explored the impact of the biblical text, in particular, the Gospel of Mark on married couples who encounter daily difficulties in raising children, but also in the personal upbringing of adults. The researcher of this article was inspired by the characters of the holy family: Joseph, Mary and Jesus. Jesus ’upbringing in Nazareth and the boy’s upbringing enabled his parents’ personal spiritual formation. That part makes up the first part of the paper. It is followed by a survey among members of the Agnus Dei family community. Research has shown that there is a great interest in God’s word. Throughout the year, attendees had the opportunity to listen to commentaries on the Gospel of Mark. In addition to certain exercises, they applied instructions to daily life. The results showed that their family community was re-formed by the word of God. They felt an improvement in interpersonal relationships in the family but also in the community. The Nazareth school actually became a stimulus for all participants in catechesis. Biblical methods in raising a family indicate positive results.

THE AIM AND EFFECT SYSTEM OF CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION, I.E.THE PROCESS OF ESTABLISHING THE ORTHOFUNCTION
73-93Views:315This study is aimed to introduce the position and the necessity of conductive education in the education, instruction, and development of persons with motor disabilities. The primary aim of conductive education is to improve the quality of life of individuals living with disabilities of central nervous origin. For this purpose, a specific effect system has been developed in the past 70 years which guarantees the efficiency of the method. Its concept of humankind is holistic which is reflected also by the complexity of the education process. Rehabilitation is approached from the aspect of pedagogy, thus it is seen as learning and re-learning and this is manifested in every minute of the daily routine. In the present study, the interrelations within the goal and effect system of conductive education are analyzed through the specialist literature of conductive education written in Hungarian as part of complex theoretical research. During the analysis, the author aspired to identify and separate the factors of conductive education, to analyze their functioning and to explore the underlying principles, which offers the opportunity for theoretical-academic modeling. The meaning of the terms orthofunction and dysfunction is examined in a separate chapter of the study with regard to their impact on the target setting and the effect system.

EXCELLENT AT BEING TALENTED. RESEARCH: YOUNG GRADUATE WOMEN LIFE STARTING CHANCES OF WORKING ABROAD
17-35Views:110This study seeks to determine whether it is an exceptional talent and hard work, or courage mixed with young energy and luck, maybe all these together, that makes it possible for young adults with a fresh diploma in the 2010s to find their future in Europe’s labor market. Sample: n = 28 (22-35 years old) women. Method: semi-structured interview. Results: even though all the interviewees are unique, all the participants can be said to have a few things in common; persistent study and exceptional diligence paired with talent. There is, however, one more thing shared across 98% of interviewees in our research sample; when asked if they will come back to Hungary, they answered without hesitation that they didn’t think they ever would.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF YOUTH'S HEALTH-RISK LIFESTYLE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF THEIR CULTURAL DIFFERENCES
7-20Views:246Health-related, primarily lifestyle-associated activities are increasingly emphasized in the lives of young people and their cultural communities. The aim of the research is to explore behavioral strategies that maintain health and to understand those societies and the environmental factors that predispose risk behaviors. The questionnaire includes items about demographics, lifestyle, family and school environment, and health risk factors. Participants are 280 youngsters from the 11-12th graders of Târgu-Mureş and Eger. The study was conducted in February 2011 on a stratified sample using a self-completed questionnaire method. Our results showed significant differences between the two groups in terms of life satisfaction, frequency of alcohol consumption, but also in terms of family support, school acceptance, and teachers' attitudes toward students. We found gender differences in health-related self-esteem, subjective body image, body weight control, frequency, and amount of alcohol consumption, but also in school attitudes, time spent with friends.

Experiences of School Social Work in the Light of Research
19-30Views:84In the last twenty years, school social work has received increasing attention both in Hungary and internationally, and there is a growing need for the presence of a social professional in educational institutions. Since the mandatory introduction of the service, several empirical and theoretical studies have been published on the subject, which report on the practical experience and the insights of the professionals. In our research question, we looked for the answer to the experiences of the operation of school social work, in studies that were born in the first three years of the mandatory introduction. The selected six studies were analyzed on the basis of three aspects which is the integration of the social worker in the institution, the number of hours spent by the social worker at the school and the characteristics of the development of professional collaborations. The document analysis reveals that the social worker's personality, clear competence boundaries, the number of hours spent in the institution and the level of interprofessional cooperation have great importance for the integration of professionals into educational institutions. The present study aims to contribute to the theoretical foundations of a comprehensive empirical study of the current functioning of Hungarian school social work.

THE SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS AND ACADEMIC PREPAREDNESS OF STEM STUDENTS IN HUNGARY
73-86Views:170Although the dropout behavior and labor market opportunities of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) students and the masculinization of STEM fields are all well-researched topics in STEM research, there is a very limited body of literature focusing on the social background and academic preparedness of STEM applicants. Thus, in this research, we compared STEM and non-STEM students based on their type of settlement, type of secondary school program, the rate of students coming from a disadvantaged background, extra points given for academic accomplishments, and total application score. To identify variables that significantly predict getting admitted to a STEM field, we conducted binary logistic regression. During our research, we conducted the analysis using the 2017 Hungarian Admission Database. Our sample consisted of those who got admitted to a full-time BA/BSc or undivided course (N = 41324). According to our results, STEM students cannot be identified as a disadvantaged group either in terms of their social background or their lack of academic preparedness. According to the results of the binary logistic regression, the main predictors of getting admitted to a STEM field are gender (male), having a language certificate, and having a vocational training certificate. The main goal of our research was to explore whether the individual characteristics of STEM students can be the reason behind the high attrition rates specific to STEM fields. Since our results did not support this conclusion, we suppose to further investigate the role of institutional variables (such as climate, the selective approach of college teachers, and high academic expectations) in dropouts.

THE EXPERIENCES OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PRESCHOOLS IN THE LIGHT OF A KINDERGARTEN RESEARCH IN HAJDÚBÖSZÖRMÉNY
27-34Views:193The literature and research on physiotherapy in Hungary are not as complete as the research on physical education, so this article is also incomplete. Our research aimed to report on the experiences of physiotherapy sessions for preschool children within the physical education sector, as this area is less researched. Our research presents the experiences of children and their parents who have participated in pre-school physiotherapy in a sample of children attending the Good Shepherd Reformed Kindergarten in Hajdúböszörmény. The results are presented based on the analysis of a questionnaire filled in by 50 parents and an interview with the physiotherapy teacher who teaches in the kindergarten. The survey shows that 8% of parents of preschool children did not know that their child was attending such sessions, 92% of parents were informed, but 20% did not know how many development sessions their child was attending. The majority of parents follow up on their child's development, but consider the information provided by the teacher to be insufficient. The vast majority of parents were also aware of their child's diagnosis. Parents' opinions showed that they consider the existence of physiotherapy sessions important, as they consider it essential for the effective development of a growing organism. Parents also noted positive effects of physiotherapy sessions, such as improved posture, flexibility, reduced orthopaedic deformities, increased endurance, or improved dexterity and hand-foot coordination. Another important aspect, according to parents, is that these sessions are free of charge, take place during nursery school hours and they are playful. According to the physiotherapy teacher, the number of sessions is not sufficient to achieve optimal improvement, given that the vast majority of children only receive development in kindergarten. These results are useful and can be used in the training of kindergarten teachers or further training courses.

TEACHING GERMAN IN NYÍREGYHÁZA TO STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
69-81Views:204The present paper deals with the issues of teaching a second language to school-aged children with SEN in Nyíregyháza, Hungary. In our research, we made semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions featuring 25 children with Special Educational Needs in grades 7 and 8 in order to gain more information about their opinion and attitudes concerning German lessons at school, which in turn might help to unify the material and/or the methods. We also contacted the children’s parents (25) to fill out a questionnaire about their impressions and opinions with regard to their children’s German learning experience at school. Finally, we asked the two teachers to paint a broader picture of teaching German to children with SEN. The research took place in spring 2020 in Nyíregyháza. We did our research in Viktor Göllesz Vocational School, Skills Development School, Student Hostel, and Integrated Special Educational Methodological Institution as well as in Gusztáv Bárczi Primary School, Skills Development School, Student Hostel, and Integrated Special Educational Methodological Institution. To carry out our research, we asked for the parents’ and the head teachers’ ethical consent. Our experience underlines that all the participants in the teaching process feel that there is a need for unification. It would be much easier for all parties to have a German coursebook written for students aged 13-16 with SEN. Based on the answers of the language teachers, we came to the conclusion that they pay attention to individual development and playful, communicative language teaching, even though it is challenging to teach German to children with SEN, as they often have difficulties in their mother tongue.

THE IMPACT OF CONTINUOUS AND DIFFERENTIATED EDUCATION FOR FORMING OF COMMUNITY ATTITUDE IN STUDENTS OF SENIOR CLASSES
7-25Views:129Background and objectives: In longitudinal research (2006–2010) we examined the progression of upper elementary school students’ self-assessment, self-image, attitude toward community, and change in their anxiety level in order to find out to what degree carefully planned and continuously differentiated education influence these traits of students’ behaviour. In this present study, we address the change in their attitude toward the community. Method: We used the measurement tool developed by Hunyadyné and modified by Tóth for measuring the attitude toward the community (Appendix 1). Hypothesis: We assumed that as a result of differentiation the upper elementary school students’ attitude toward community will progress earlier and more effectively in the pilot than the control group (school community, the society; the class’ cohesion force, self-government’s role and competence, the function of public opinion, potential sociometric relation within the class, group activities). Results: The controlled and planned differentiated development made the areas of attitude toward community advance more in the pilot group than in the group going under only scarce differentiated development. We experienced significant differences in the scales of relation to the broader community, group activity, and class cohesion. Conclusions: Results justify that appropriate differentiated development has got an advantageous impact on attitude toward the community.

Moderate-Risk Prematurity does not Hinder the Development of Reading and Spelling Abilities Despite the Lower IQ
35-50Views:111Background and aims: It is well established that the impacts of prematurity are often long-lasting in the various domains of development, however, the published findings concerning the prevalence, severity, and background of disorders are inconsistent. As yet research into the development of abilities contributing to the academic progress in Hungarian preterm children has been scarce. Our study aimed to find out to what extent prematurity impeded the reading and spelling abilities in school age and to contribute some information on the cognitive background of the performances. Methods: Three groups of 7 – 12 year-old children participated in the study. The target group consisted of moderate-risk preterms. For comparison two groups of full-term children were tested: typically developing good readers and dyslexics. To assess the reading and spelling abilities the Hungarian version of the 3DM (Dyslexia Differential Diagnosis) was used. Cognitive abilities were assessed using the Hungarian adaptation of the WISC-IV and the Rey Complex Figure Test. Results: The reading and spelling performances of the full-term good readers and the preterms did not differ and the preterms scored higher than the dyslexics. The cognitive tests did not offer any direct explanation to this, since the preterms lagged behind the full-term good readers in the WISC-IV full-scale IQ as well as in several specific cognitive measures. The CART Decision Tree served to analyse the relationships, allowing to reveal the interactions and the moderation effects. Discussion: The CHC model as a theoretical framework and the CART Decision Tree statistical analysis proved to be fruitful to disentangle the complex interplay of the cognitive background factors. There are various cognitive paths of acquiring the reading and spelling skills, e.g., in case of relatively lower IQs the sufficient levels of memory and processing speed may ensure success.

THE ROLE OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUND VARIABLES IN NETFIT MEASUREMENT
33-44Views:222Assessment of physical indicators and motor skills is the Hungarian National Unified Student Fitness Test (hereinafter referred to as "NETFIT"), which was introduced in public education from the 2013/14 academic year, which aims to demonstrate the effects of everyday physical education on the fitness and physiological parameters of students. When showing the national results of the tests, it is also shown that the fitness condition is determined by the genetic conditions, the family background and the environment (Csányi et al., 2015, Csányi and Kaj 2017) so results can be interpreted in a common context of these factors. In our research, we aimed at examining NETFIT data from Budapest secondary school students, supplemented by family background surveys. During our research, we sought to find out how the fitness profile of boys studying at the Budapest Technical Vocational Training Center is based on the results of the NETFIT tests. What is the relationship between family background and NETFIT performance? Our survey was carried out at one of the largest schools of the Budapest Technical Vocational Training Center at the Technical Training Center in Újpesti Two Teaching Grammar School and Technical College of the Budapest Technical Vocational Training Center. A total of 342 pupils were included in the study, where a questionnaire of 35 questions was used to investigate the correlations of NETFIT results and socioeconomic background indicators. Numerous studies have shown that the more favorable SES students have generally more favorable fitness indicators (Jiménez-Pavon et al., 2010, Ortega et al., 2013, Vandendriessche et al., 2012). There is also a great deal of evidence that country-specific regional status indicators are higher in regions with more favorable SES (Charlton et al., 2014, Golle et al., 2014, Cleland et al., 2009, Welk, Saint-Maurice and Csányi, 2015). During our research, we found that students in need of development mostly come from small communities, with some 58.3% developing. These values differ significantly (khi = 218.6, df = 20, p = 0.000). The basic pillow of the lifestyle is the family (Field 2018), the habits of which shape the child's relationship with sports, and later it is very difficult to change them (Herpain et al., 2017, Herpainé 2018). The study showed that the father's sporting habits are decisive in the case of the examined boy's pupils, but the mother's sporting habit does not have the same effect on the sportsman's behavior. We propose to extend the NETFIT test bundle with the socioeconomic background examination of the examined person.

HOW THE MASS MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC DISCOURSE AFFECTS INTENTIONAL COMMUNITIES: AN ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY
113-125Views:116The paper explores the journey of an organization that is a small intentional community, whose objective is to contribute to the new forms of sociality as well as the artistic and cultural life of the youth in the city of Tetova in North Macedonia. For the sake of better comprehension concerning how mass media can affect the public discourse, a case study is examined of a recent incident that happened in the community. The methodology used for this study is applied anthropology as a practice, which involves a problem-solving approach that draws on the knowledge and skills of anthropology to develop culturally sensitive solutions to the challenges this community faces.

Abduction in the Assessment of Special Educational Needs - Learning Disability
31-44Views:91The diagnostic categories used to define learning disability are not standardized, and categorization systems are vague. This study aimed to explore the diagnostic methodology and strategies used to identify learning disabilities. The aim is to identify abductions in diagnostics in the field of special education. Interpreting diagnostics in remedial education using abduction can help identify learning disabilities more accurately. In the previous research phase, we conducted a meta-analysis of 11 expert reviews to identify abduction using fuzzy logic, fsQCA, and Boolean algebra. This study allowed for the creation of a new abductive diagnostic model. Based on these results, the reliability of the diagnostic process can be increased, and the diagnostic model can be used to detect learning disabilities or other types of problems and to identify sufficient conditions underlying a given phenomenon. Neither qualitative content analysis nor fsQCA revealed a relationship between all variables at a sufficient depth. Thus, in the present study, we moved on to Bayesian meshes, which shift and attempt to reorder previously identified variables based on conditional probability. We hypothesized that the Bayesian mesh and abduction application together may already be an efficient tool, which also anticipates the possibility of automation.
