    Urbanization in Kyrgyzstan, in particular the capital city of Bishkek faces the rapid growth of new settlements that often outpaces the developmental issues such as infrastructure, housing shortages, social services, employment, environmental impact, cultural and social integration, security, land ownership and property rights. These issues can be complex, and lead to disputes and uncertainty for residents. This can hinder development in new settlements. Efforts to address these urbanization issues in new settlements around Bishkek city should involve comprehensive urban planning, infrastructure development, land management, and social policies. It's essential to ensure that urbanization contributes to improved living conditions and opportunities for all residents, fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.

    The study deals with a possible new library pedagogic function of school libraries, and the presentation of the library as a development pedagogic arena. The study analyzes the points of synergy between the professions of librarian and developmental pedagogue, the traditional and innovative tasks of elementary school libraries, as well as developmental pedagogic opportunities that appear in the process of teaching-learning, learning development, and information searching. The aim of the study is to show how the school library, as a renewable development-assisting information center, can effectively carry out its mission according to its traditional function, at the same time, expanded with new content that meets the expectations of the 21st century, it becomes an interesting arena to promote the development of student abilities.

    This article pertains to the relation between high sensitivity and test anxiety. The timeliness of this study comes from the observation that although more and more research is being conducted on high sensitivity abroad, high sensitivity as a character trait has not been researched in Hungary, especially in relation to the special treatment highly sensitive children may require. In this study, the main research question is whether a higher level of sensitivity correlates positively with a higher level of test anxiety. Sample: 133 persons (attributes: Mage=15.3; gender distribution 25.56% boys, 74.44% girls; grade distribution 78.95% 9th grade, 21.05% 10th grade). Method: a questionnaire package completable anonymously online made up of 3 questionnaires. The questionnaires used were a self-constructed demographic questionnaire, the TAI-H questionnaire to measure test anxiety (Sipos, Sipos & Spielberger, 1988), and the HSPS-H questionnaire to measure sensitivity (Aron, 1999, transl. Komjáthy, 2011; Pluess, 2013). Results: students showing a higher level of sensitivity show significantly higher test anxiety levels than their less-sensitive peers. Conclusions: considering that (alongside multiple other factors) the given character trait of high sensitivity can influence test anxiety levels and conclusively also performance, it would be advisable to take students’ sensitivity into account in teaching practice.

    In this article, we focus on special educational needs teacher training, geographical differences, and labor market features. Sources are the admission database of 2014, n = 965), and the Hungarian Graduate Tracking System (HGTS) of 2012 and 2013; n = 567). Result: the situation of special education teachers is very good in the labor market, they are very successful because their unemployment rate is lower than average, and their job is in connection with their university studies.

       ABOUT MEASUREMENT OF SOCIAL INTEGRATION IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

    This paper reports official data about the well-known EU migration crisis and examines the methods used to evaluate the social integration of third-country migrants into the European Union. I argue that the Zaragoza indicators, – which are currently being used – cannot include all the aspects of migrant integration, and because of this deficiency, they are not able to track the ongoing integrational processes correctly for experts and decision-makers. To demonstrate and prove this argument a comparative analysis is performed in the article. I compare data about six countries (United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Belgium, and Switzerland) from two data sources: the Zaragoza Indicators and the EurIslam research. The EurIslam research is a complex social-scientific project for examining the relation between Muslim migrants and their host societies and its overall considerations could make the future extension of Zaragoza indicators possible.

    Between 2017 and 2020, we participated in a national project led by the Education Office, called „Support for social inclusion and integration measures in public education” (EFOP-3.1.3-16-2016-00001), which we simply called "Kindergarten for Opportunities". The aim of the project was mainly to help kindergartens educate and develop disadvantaged and multiply disadvantaged Roma and Gypsy children. An important phase of the work was the survey, in which a specific assessment of skills was carried out with the active participation of the institutions, adapted to life in the kindergarten and based on the observations of the kindergarten teachers. In the present study, we focus on an important aspect of the survey, the study of social competencies. Results were obtained in three categories (self-images, social relations, and emotional-willing qualities), in five dimensions per category, from the kindergartens participating in the project in the three selected counties. In the total survey, the kindergartens provided information on a total of 1112 children, of which the number of responses received in the three counties analyzed by us was as follows: 259 in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, 178 in Hajdú-Bihar county and 271 in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. So kindergarten teachers' statements regarding n=708 children were analyzed in this study. No significant difference can be observed in the results: only in a few cases did we experience a negative deviation in social competences in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county.

    The current paper is based on the conception that Kuwaiti people are forgetting their stories and it is largely down to the fact that the new generation of Kuwait hardly remember the fictional figures of the Tantal, Al Seolu, Sehaila Um Al­Khalajeen, Um Al­Sa’af Wa­Alleef, Al­Duaidea, Bu Darya, which is mainly due to historical and social background. The article intends to dwell on these types of stories and their meaning, focusing on the moral context, as well.

    Our research conducted in  Sáp is a  part of a  longer, multiple-part research series,  in which we will identify the main social features and map the current social processes in the less populous settlements of the more deprived regions of the country in particular. Basically, the aim of our research is to understand and present the perspective of the local people.  The decisive criterion for the selection of research sites was that the smaller settlements of these peripheral regions are subject to rather unfavourable socio-demographic processes, including in particular the decline in the population, aging, and the increase in the share of the disadvantaged population. These processes – unless there are significant changes – project an even more unfavourable vision of the future. The adverse socio-demographic processes described above are observable in Sáp. Related to this, the primary objective of the research was to understand the opportunities, goals, and vision of the local youth most affected by migration, as well as to recognize the local community relations and the characteristics of cohabitation of the Roma and non-Roma population in particular.

    This paper will present András Pető, the father of the conductive pedagogy, his method, and his institute. His new rehabilitation method gave a chance to motor disordered children and adults to learn how to adjust to society and cope with daily challenges in spite of their physical disadvantage. He established his institute after World War II in 1945, and the institute was named after him and became nationally and internationally well-known as Pető Institute.

    This study investigates the relationship between the acceptance of the presuppositions of neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and the level of subjective well-being (SWB), psychological immunity, and assertive communication. The results provide evidence that acceptance of the presuppositions represent a way of thinking that is positively associated with SWB and it is also positively related to psychological immunity. However, no association was found between the acceptance of the presuppositions and assertive behaviour which may suggest that there is a gap between conceptual acceptance and its practical realization.

    The study intends to describe and compare the characterology and image of woman of the 19th -century philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer and Otto Weininger, a philosopher-psychologist living at the turn of the 19-20th century. The philosophy of Schopenhauer and Weininger represents surprising coincidence concerning the role of woman in life, the differences between the two genders, and the inferiority of women. With some smaller digressions – such as the function of psychology, character and gender, the duality of gender roles, and the woman as a diametrical human being - we get hold of a picture of the two philosophers’ theory. The current study tends to introduce a kind of psychology which can be regarded as a psychological attempt preceding today’s psychology; furthermore, it examined the relationship system of individual and genders from an absolutely different perspective.

  • The Jinn – The Culprit of the Arabic World

    The article attempts to ponder on the prevalent religious beliefs, urban (vernacular) legends, everyday customs and traditions related to the figure of the jinn and its origins. The study will discuss the mentioned from the point of view of official Sunni Islam, in order to better unweave the disposition Islam towards superstitions and vernacular beliefs.  The aim of study is to provide the generic Islamic concept about the jinn and to place it into a context within the framework of individual interpretations of the interview subjects who reside in Kuwait, are Sunni Muslims, men, and women, between the age of 18-65. The applied resources were the Holy Quran, websites marked authentic for Quran interpretations, and contemporary and past literature written on the subject. Further, several interviews with the local Arabic community, blogs, articles of urban legends, and Ruqyah are the backbones of the present paper.

    According to the data of the census in 2011, the majority of people with disabilities live in private households, while a smaller proportion of them live in institutional care. The number of families raising a child with disabilities is over 62 thousand. Research results show that providing and caring for a family member with disabilities puts a particularly heavy burden on families. Social policy instruments play a significant role in reducing the burdens of the affected social group. The present study provides an overview of the system of social benefits and services which aids the everyday lives of persons with disabilities and their families caring for them. It presents the current types of social policy instruments which support persons with disabilities and their families caring for them. We investigate whether the currently available social policy instruments are able to promote the social participation and integration of people with disabilities and their families.

  • LECTURERS IN THE POST-ACADEMIC WORLD – THE FINDINGS OF A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

    We can find the trace of the fragmentation and deprofessionalisation of the lecturers’ jobs from the early nineties in the field of higher education research. The post-academic phase which was described by Ziman (2002) become more typical in Hungary, too. This shift can reduce the artisan way of research, make the quantification more significant and increase the frequency of teamwork. Scott (2009) highlights that this generates such an organisational environment that is full of elements of alienation and the usage of ICT tools can amplify this tendency. The aim of this article is to reveal the reflexions of the lecturers on this specific environment with the help in 31 semi-structured interviews. We recorded the interviews in ten cities of Hungary and the lecturers came from 12 disciplines. The elements of lecturers’ work were identified (research, teaching, administration, and taking part in applications) but it is hard to see successful examples to put these parts together in high quality. The patterns of these elements are different in the fragmented world of higher education and the expectations of institutions can form their significance at the same time. The barriers to academic careers in the post-academic phase became identifiable at the same time.

    The IQ-paradox: although the intellectual abilities are better and better of the new generations (it is the so-called Flynn-effect, the speed of intellectual growth is 3 IQ-point per decade), the average IQ stays 100 IQ-point in case of every generation. This article shows some factors in the background of IQ-paradox: concept, tests, and score-types of intelligence, and it demonstrates the absurd consequences of speed-rate of Flynn-effect. At last, this article gives an explanation of IQ-paradox.
