    Among the sports motivations of children, victory occupies a very special place, success, achievement, the need to recognize performance, which predominantly expresses extrinsic orientation (Duda et al., 1992). Studies examining sports motivational factors for people with disabilities do not provide such a comprehensive system as research on intact sports. Thus, the survey of exercise habits and sports motivation factors that determine the quality of life of people with disabilities can be said to be a deficit area both domestically and internationally. The research examines the sports motivation factors of the 8-18 age group (n = 1158) and reports the results of primary research. I present the adaptation of the questionnaire conducted among the Hungarian disabled population to a child sample and its results. No such survey has yet been conducted in Hungary among children with disabilities. In the questionnaire research, the sports habits of young people with disabilities and the emergence of the role of health awareness in sports motivation. I process the data with the help of SPSS software, in addition to the basic statistics, I use the Chi2 test to examine the correlations.

    The study addresses the language problems of children with socio-cultural background problems. Children from the environment using a limited language code are more likely to start with a language disadvantage or language delay, and these ability deficits do not or only moderately decrease during the years of institutional education. In the presented pilot study, n = 20 people from Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, disadvantaged Gypsy / Roma children living in three villages and their parents were analyzed. In the study, the Parental Treatment Questionnaire (H-PBI, Gordon, 1979), the LAPP Active Vocabulary Survey (Lőrik et al., 2015), and the speech of children with delayed/impeded speech developed by Dr. Ágnes Juhász and Tiborné Bittera (1995) and its language development was examined. The results were interpreted according to the small sample on the basis of simple statistics, and the drawing of conclusions is also treated sparingly.

    The end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century was a period of widening education and eradicating illiteracy in civil nation-states. The compulsory education laws also provided opportunities for the lower social classes to obtain a school qualification that also contributed to improving their social situation. The school as a socialization terrain, in its standards, behavioral and knowledge expectations, served the political and social stability of the current system. Because in many different groups of society they differ in many ways from the expectations of the school, in the behavior of the students, they caused the existence of permanent discipline problems, which were repeatedly dealt with in the pedagogical and psychological press and publications. Discipline generally meant creating an external order, in which the main role was the example of the teacher. During the reward and punishment, the goodwill and justice of the teacher were considered important. The forms of punishment were different at the school level. At elementary school, pupils were first given oral warnings. Then the parents were informed, then the teaching staff and the guardians took action. In secondary schools, punishment ranged from verbal reprimand to exclusion from school. In high schools, physical punishments were forbidden.

    The study provides an overview of the portrayal and role of acceptance, empathy, and special treatment in the Harry Potter-series. The focus of the analysis revolves around the depiction of four different attitudes, which manifest in the relation between humans and magical objects, magical creatures, humanoid beings, and other humans. These four attitudes are represented by four main characters and are exemplified through their actions. The four attitudes are indifferent-passive, rejecting-active, accepting-active, and responsible-active. Due to their magical nature, the objects of the examined attitudes operate differently from what is expected by everyday logic, their needs and behaviors deviate from conventional societal norms, and they can even be intimidating and hazardous. The study illustrates how the novel series encourages readers to engage in the community through various examples and highlights the development of the underlying theme that the most powerful magical force is love, thus deserving acceptance, empathy, or special treatment by everyone. This contributes to the enhancement of readers' emotional intelligence and empathy skills, fostering the acceptance of diverse perspectives.

    The study deals with a possible new library pedagogic function of school libraries, and the presentation of the library as a development pedagogic arena. The study analyzes the points of synergy between the professions of librarian and developmental pedagogue, the traditional and innovative tasks of elementary school libraries, as well as developmental pedagogic opportunities that appear in the process of teaching-learning, learning development, and information searching. The aim of the study is to show how the school library, as a renewable development-assisting information center, can effectively carry out its mission according to its traditional function, at the same time, expanded with new content that meets the expectations of the 21st century, it becomes an interesting arena to promote the development of student abilities.

  • XAMINATION OF READING SKILLS IN PATIENTS WITH APHASIA USING THE THREE-WAYS READING TEST

       Aphasia is an acquired disorder of previously intact language ability that can affect both oral and written language (Osmanné, 1997, Gósy, 2005). Whilst there are a few fairly useable methods available that can provide a global and true picture of the patient’s linguistic abilities in oral language (Osmanné, 1983, 2007), there is only one assessment method in use in Hungarian for measuring the reading skills and it is a part of the Western Aphasia Battery (Net 1). This assessment does not enable unambiguous interpretation at several points, the scoring method is sometimes not clear and most importantly the results do not mirror the patient’s performance that had been previously observed. This is why we have decided to develop a new diagnostic test.

       Our investigation of the reading process in aphasia is based on Ellis and Young’s theory of the dual-route model (Ellis, 2004). Our aim was to assess the patients’ performance in each reading process (route) so a therapy method can be created that is based on the intact reading process and supports the recovery of the damaged routes.

       The data for our pilot study were collected from patients who had both motor and sensory disturbances with motor dominance. The use of our testing method was smooth and easy in practice. The results confirm that the method is suitable to use in measuring the performance on different reading routes that can give guidance in designing the treatment approach.

    Urbanization in Kyrgyzstan, in particular the capital city of Bishkek faces the rapid growth of new settlements that often outpaces the developmental issues such as infrastructure, housing shortages, social services, employment, environmental impact, cultural and social integration, security, land ownership and property rights. These issues can be complex, and lead to disputes and uncertainty for residents. This can hinder development in new settlements. Efforts to address these urbanization issues in new settlements around Bishkek city should involve comprehensive urban planning, infrastructure development, land management, and social policies. It's essential to ensure that urbanization contributes to improved living conditions and opportunities for all residents, fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.

    This work aims to answer the questions of, what is the communication and mass media role in the process of settling down in a new landscape through analysis of the publications and communications in the medium newspapers, ranging the year from 1921 to 1989. The main newspaper this research focuses on is the "O Correio do Povo" which is the main local newspaper of the city of Jaraguá do Sul, also the "Jaraguá: Seminarios Nacionalistas" another newspaper that circulated for a few years in the city. Thus, the focus is on reporting and analyzing the newspaper advertisements and reports, to answer the questions of, what is the communication and mass media role in the process of settling down in a new landscape by the Hungarian immigrants in the South of Brazil. Based on archive research, focused on the role of the media in the process of immigration and colonization in Jaraguá do Sul. The timeline range covers the propaganda made for the arrival of Europeans to the south - before 1891 as presented in books -, going through the publications in the local newspapers from 1921 to 1989. Finally, a brief introduction was made about the nowadays publications, reinforcing the role of the newspaper in remembering, which generates questions about its new roles in society under a digital acceleration. The whole analysis brought up also the main values and needs of the community during the first decades, through the portrait of the current in the past, which the newspaper helped to compose. Such aspects will help in the reflection of future analyses on how it was reflected in the local architecture.

    Our research conducted in Tiszalök is a part of a longer, multiple part research series, in which we will identify the main social features and map the current social processes in the less populous settlements of the more deprived regions of the country in particular. Basically, the aim of our research is to understand and present the perspective of the local people. The decisive criterion for the selection of research sites was that the smaller settlements of these peripheral regions are subject to rather unfavorable socio-demographic processes, including in particular the decline in the population, aging, and the increase in the share of the disadvantaged populations. These processes – unless there are significant changes – project an even more unfavorable vision of the future. The adverse socio-demographic processes described above are definitely observable in Tiszalök. Related to this, the primary objective of the research was to understand the opportunities, goals, and vision of the local youth most affected by migration, as well as to recognize the local community relations and the characteristics of cohabitation of the Roma and non-Roma population in particular.

    The present paper is the first of a two-part pair of studies exploring the relationship between medical students, doctors, medicine and disability. The factors influencing the perception of people with disabilities in different historical periods are presented, based on different models. We also analyse the development of special education from a medical perspective. The history of medical education and the role of disability studies in the medical education years will be briefly discussed. The study provides the theoretical basis for a later survey-based analysis of the „doctors” opinions, knowledge and hospital experiences with groups of people with disabilities, based on their personal and professional responses.

    The current study provides insight into the specificities of dyslexic pupils learning German as a foreign language by measuring their language lexical knowledge. The aim was to explore the nature of dyslexia whilst learning a foreign language. Should we really free all such pupils from the strains of learning a foreign language? Or is it a case of finding the appropriate methodology to learn a new language? The goal is to measure language skills in a foreign language and draw inferences from this. Method: Word association exercises are used to measure the lexical knowledge of children with learning disorders, including dyslexia. Sample: 19 students with learning disorders. Conclusion: The results clearly indicate that we should find pupils’ individual strengths and utilise these, instead of simply exempting pupils from learning foreign languages.

    The equal opportunities approach of the second half of the 20th century emphasizes the social inclusion of disadvantaged groups, including persons with disabilities. Education and employment play a key role in achieving integration. Nevertheless, other fields such as leisure time and sporting activities also contribute positively to the social involvement of persons with disabilities. At present nearly 7,000 persons with disabilities are registered in Hungary who pursue sports competitively, of whom approximately 5,000 persons with intellectual disabilities (Regényi et.al, 2017). The study discloses the partial results of a research aimed at revealing the awareness of the Hungarian population regarding the sport of people with disabilities. As such research has never been carried out in Hungary before, it can fill in a niche. The results of our exploratory research may be the starting point for further investigations. The importance of the topic is given by the fact that thanks to the sport the focus is on the outstanding performance of the social group concerned rather than on their limitations and deficiencies, which therefore reinforces the positive and accepting attitude of citizens. Previous research findings have highlighted that the nature of disability-related knowledge influences the way the members of society think about persons with disabilities, i.e. when it is possible to provide information and gain experience focusing on the existing abilities and strengths of the above -mentioned group, attitudes become more positive as well.  The findings of the research reveal that respondents consider it important to pursue sport within an integrated framework, at the same time they feel it is justified to do segregated sports with a view to persons with disabilities. Based on the results we can state that the media coverage of achievements in sports competitions of persons with disabilities is perceived as low level, but apparently it is not considered to be a key area in the lives of persons with disabilities.

    The article attempts to ponder on the prevalent religious beliefs, urban (vernacular) legends, everyday customs and traditions related to the figure of the jinn and its origins. The study will discuss the mentioned from the point of view of official Sunni Islam, in order to better unweave the disposition Islam towards superstitions and vernacular beliefs.  The aim of study is to provide the generic Islamic concept about the jinn and to place it into a context within the framework of individual interpretations of the interview subjects who reside in Kuwait, are Sunni Muslims, men, and women, between the age of 18-65. The applied resources were the Holy Quran, websites marked authentic for Quran interpretations, and contemporary and past literature written on the subject. Further, several interviews with the local Arabic community, blogs, articles of urban legends, and Ruqyah are the backbones of the present paper.

    This article contains the basic structural features of a same-named Ph.D. research thesis. The main tasks of the research are to identify three focal fields with mythological elements, whether they are phenomena, objects, people, or creatures that some believe and others doubt exist. These focal fields are found in various collections of folk stories, and contemporary literary texts as well as in interviews with storytellers. However, the focus of this article is primarily on the introductory story and on providing the background of the general idea. The goal is to acquaint the readers with the background that explains the origin of the mentioned stories among the people. It talks about death, man’s natural fear of it, and the world of the paranormal, religious, and mythological, which combined create inexplicable phenomena that contradict the rational reasoning of man. One of the hypotheses of the research itself is to understand why this phenomenon is still present in the human community and what benefits it brings. Furthermore, the methodology used in the research includes a comparison and contrast of information between folk stories and contemporary literary works. In addition, the most important research method used is the interview technique with the aforementioned storytellers with strategically selected persons who are assumed to possess quality information.  

  • LECTURERS IN THE POST-ACADEMIC WORLD – THE FINDINGS OF A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

    We can find the trace of the fragmentation and deprofessionalisation of the lecturers’ jobs from the early nineties in the field of higher education research. The post-academic phase which was described by Ziman (2002) become more typical in Hungary, too. This shift can reduce the artisan way of research, make the quantification more significant and increase the frequency of teamwork. Scott (2009) highlights that this generates such an organisational environment that is full of elements of alienation and the usage of ICT tools can amplify this tendency. The aim of this article is to reveal the reflexions of the lecturers on this specific environment with the help in 31 semi-structured interviews. We recorded the interviews in ten cities of Hungary and the lecturers came from 12 disciplines. The elements of lecturers’ work were identified (research, teaching, administration, and taking part in applications) but it is hard to see successful examples to put these parts together in high quality. The patterns of these elements are different in the fragmented world of higher education and the expectations of institutions can form their significance at the same time. The barriers to academic careers in the post-academic phase became identifiable at the same time.

    Nowadays teaching children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is at the centre of attention. However, the field is really new in language pedagogy and, due to the students’ different abilities, a common methodology has yet to be developed. As a result, teachers’ creativity plays an even more important role, since they rely heavily on their own teaching experience. We will dive deeper into this topic in our two papers built upon each other, both dealing with the issues of teaching a second language to school-aged children with SEN. This present paper is about teaching German students with SEN at a Hungarian and an international level. Our research involves an international overview of several European countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, Russia, Estonia, and Italy). We contacted specific institutions in those countries and asked for their experience in teaching a second language to children with SEN. It also includes the language learning characteristics of children with SEN as well as the Hungarian rules governing their language teaching.
