This study investigates the probation service system on a theoretical level and its’ efficiency in the view of juvenile offenders on a practical level. In this qualitative research, we made semi-structured interviews with 10 youthful protegees and 15 underaged from the reformatory, who has already been part of the probation system. We discuss parts of the research that are adequate on the subject of the study. Based on the interviewees’ experiences of the probation service we tried to collect suggestions to increase the efficiency of the probation service.

  • THE "INSTITUTIONALIZATION" OF THE LOVARI LANGUAGE FROM THE ASPECT OF SOCIAL INNOVATION

In this current paper we intend to reflect upon the historicity and social impact of Lovari language education from the perspective of social innovation. Our starting point is that the process of the acceptance of the Lovari language and its recognition in the educational palette of foreign languages is a „bottom-up” initiative that developed mainly from the work of Romani intellectuals. The focus of our interest is, among others, the following questions: Who invented it? Who supported it? Who prevented it? What language learning methods are used by people teaching Lovari language who are originally not language teachers? The „institutionalization” of language education in Lovari and the state-recognized language exam certificate that can be obtained in this language have a serious social impact, for example, it helped disadvantaged and/or Roma students to obtain a university degree. From this point of view, we also consider this phenomenon as an innovation. Besides the secondary sources, we tend to map the topic with the help of primary, qualitative data. In addition to interviews with Lovari language teachers (N=3) who have been teaching for several decades, we would like to put our own perceptions in a narrative.

  • ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE SPORT OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, I. E.: IS THE SPORT IMPORTANT IN THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES?

The equal opportunities approach of the second half of the 20th century emphasizes the social inclusion of disadvantaged groups, including persons with disabilities. Education and employment play a key role in achieving integration. Nevertheless, other fields such as leisure time and sporting activities also contribute positively to the social involvement of persons with disabilities. At present nearly 7,000 persons with disabilities are registered in Hungary who pursue sports competitively, of whom approximately 5,000 persons with intellectual disabilities (Regényi et.al, 2017). The study discloses the partial results of a research aimed at revealing the awareness of the Hungarian population regarding the sport of people with disabilities. As such research has never been carried out in Hungary before, it can fill in a niche. The results of our exploratory research may be the starting point for further investigations. The importance of the topic is given by the fact that thanks to the sport the focus is on the outstanding performance of the social group concerned rather than on their limitations and deficiencies, which therefore reinforces the positive and accepting attitude of citizens. Previous research findings have highlighted that the nature of disability-related knowledge influences the way the members of society think about persons with disabilities, i.e. when it is possible to provide information and gain experience focusing on the existing abilities and strengths of the above -mentioned group, attitudes become more positive as well.  The findings of the research reveal that respondents consider it important to pursue sport within an integrated framework, at the same time they feel it is justified to do segregated sports with a view to persons with disabilities. Based on the results we can state that the media coverage of achievements in sports competitions of persons with disabilities is perceived as low level, but apparently it is not considered to be a key area in the lives of persons with disabilities.

  • IMPORTANCE AND IMPACT OF THE PREVENTION AND EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERVENTION IN LATER YEARS

The term early childhood intervention (and prevention and development) refers to the specificities of child development and the professional environmental responses to them in the early years of life, which involve many sectors (public education, social, health, etc.) and many professional groups. The understanding of 'early childhood' itself has changed rapidly and now extends from the prenatal period, including the family planning/expansion period, to the child's entry into school. A new element in the system of care and support, in the policy strategies, is the prenatal period, the focus on the family, and the fact that support does not end when children start school. There is a need to design programs with a long-term impact in mind, to 'prepare' for events in later years and stages of life, and to assess the impact of the programs that are in place. The paper summarises some of the basic ideas of early childhood intervention and prevention in a way that takes them forward in time and points to their social impact.

  • WOMAN AND MAN: SEXUALITY AND CHARACTER IN THE WORKS OF ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER AND OTTO WEININGER

The study intends to describe and compare the characterology and image of woman of the 19th -century philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer and Otto Weininger, a philosopher-psychologist living at the turn of the 19-20th century. The philosophy of Schopenhauer and Weininger represents surprising coincidence concerning the role of woman in life, the differences between the two genders, and the inferiority of women. With some smaller digressions – such as the function of psychology, character and gender, the duality of gender roles, and the woman as a diametrical human being - we get hold of a picture of the two philosophers’ theory. The current study tends to introduce a kind of psychology which can be regarded as a psychological attempt preceding today’s psychology; furthermore, it examined the relationship system of individual and genders from an absolutely different perspective.

  • PARTICIPATION OF CHILDREN WITH PROFOUND INTELLECTUAL AND MULTIPLE DISABILITIES IN FAMILY ACTIVITIES

There are only a few studies to investigate the presence of children with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities in their home and family environment. The aim of this paper is to consider and to summarize the participation of children in family activities as to what extent they can actually be family members. "Participation" can be defined, on the one hand, as the person’s physical presence at a place or during some activity, on the other hand, as a commitment, active participation in the activity. But participation in an activity or event is only possible if the activity occurs and is also offered to children or adults. In this sense, children and adults with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities rely heavily on others.  Active participation in family life may be affected, hindered or promoted by several factors, for example, the characteristics of the child, the frequency of family activities, the family income, the mother's and father's educational level, the habits, the strategies of implementation or eventually the personal assistant.

  • THE CONNECTION BETWEEN HELPING BEHAVIOR AND DEPRESSION IN YOUNG ADULTS

Background: The concept of' help-seeking behaviour' has gained attention in recent years. Early adults are at risk of developing mental disorders, thus exploring and understanding the background of help-seeking delay is very important. This study focuses on help-seeking intentions among early adults. Methods: The sample of 228 participants (mean age: 22,5 years; SD=3,29) filled out the questionnaires. After answering some demographic questions, respondents filled out the shortened version of the Beck Depression Inventory, the Gotland Male Depression Scale, and the General Help-Seeking Questionnaire (in connection with a personal problem and family problem). Results: Women reported closer potential help providers than men. Women tend to ask for help from intimate partners more frequently than men do. Participants who reported only masculine specific symptoms - which are least likely responses to depression - showed lower rates of help-seeking intentions compared with participants with no depressive symptoms or with classic symptoms of depression.  Conclusion: Due to the fact that masculine specific symptoms are usually shown at the beginning of depressive episodes, and go hand in hand with maladaptive coping strategies, professionals have to consider how help-seeking intentions could be increased.
