Empirical analysis of the relationship between the attitudes of domestic researchers and their economic results
20-38Views:137The study analyses the attitudes towards intellectual property management and innovation attitudes of researchers in Hungarian public research organizations and the different types of economic results they achieve in an empirical way by pointing out the close relationships among them. During the analysis, a form of researcher typology will be developed based on clusters which were formed by the attitudes of researchers. The principal components
were created from the attitude variables and served as dimensions. The research is primarily aimed at testing two hypotheses. On the one hand, these researcher clusters have significantly different economic characteristics and on the other hand, the cluster which has the most favourable attitudes in terms of the economic exploitation of research results has the greatest economic performance. The Roots of Euroscepticism in Hungary.: Economic Policy and Perceptions of the European Union in the Crisis
5-22Views:356The paper explores the relationships among three factors: economic policy, its evaluation, and perceptions of the European Union. It considers Hungary’s recent decade, primarily the years of the recent global financial and economic crisis. The analysis compares Hungary’s economic statistics and attitudes with those of other countries on the EU periphery. The main questions are the following: why and how Hungary has become a eurosceptic country? On what does the image of the EU (created in the population) depend? Is there any link between how the economic policy is being pursued on one hand, and the attitudes towards the EU, on the other? Is the evaluation of the national economy confirmed by the hard facts?

Living memories of the past? The new wave of redistribution at the turn of the millenium
83-104Views:110Redistribution within the economy and the state owned companies subsidized by the government have become a major field of economics policy. The view of the daily press is misleading: it is not a brand new phenomenon. Redistribution was present during the whole transformation of the economy. The article analyses the distinctive features of a new wave started at the turn of the millennium and the central position of private enterprises showing the various methods, the ideologies providing their background and the driving forces. According to the article the factor and basic motivation of redistribution are independent of the political orientation of the ruling governments, it is only their approaches that vary. The support of domestic private enterprises is a failure concerning the direct political aims. Anf from sociological aspects it supports the old attitudes of the planned economy. We could not show clearly favourable economic effects but their chance depends on the method of redistribution. The conclusion of the article: the best support is the decrease of subsidies and the changing of the general economic possibilities into favourable ones for the players in the economy.

The shift from Office to Customer Oriented Culture: the Case of the Hungarian Post: Liberalizáció és szervezeti változások a postai szektorban
143-158Views:269The case study is conducted within the framework of organizational change and organization innovation, and examines the changes in knowledge requirements and the alterations caused by the liberalization generated by the Magyar Posta Zrt. The study focuses on the transformation of official attitudes, the make up of the required knowledge and how organizational changes have facilitated the development of a customer-oriented organizational structure. Based on the interviews conducted, the conclusion is that the process of “providing service ex-officio” has not yet been completed, but the employees are increasingly becoming involved in a client-centred approach. On the management level the preservation of the hierarchy and the status quo have more importance than the expression of the new organizational values.

Consumer ideologies and retailer preferences in Hungarian food retailing: Vásárlói ideológiák és üzletválasztási preferenciák a hazai élelmiszer-kiskereskedelemben
35-63Views:153This study relies on the results of a representative survey (N=619) of Hungarian consumers carried out in the summer of 2011. The survey was designed to identify the affectiveand normative attitudes that might influence buyers in the formation of their food and convenience retailer preferences in the context of domestic versus international providers. A strong and significant relationship was found between what was termed buyers’ economic nationalism and a preference for domestic stores, particularly as far as shoppers with a higher than average ability to associate retailers’ origins were concerned. In contrast, no
notable relationship was found between other consumer ideologies (such as nationalism, patriotism, cosmopolitanism or ‘straightforward’ consumer ethnocentrism) and preferences for domestic stores. The factor of economic nationalism, however, was proved to interact with the cognitive formation of store preferences, considerably improving the explanatory power of regression models built on perceived store attributes as independent variables.Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) classifications: M31, Z13, M39

Emigration or staying at home? The role of loyalty in migration decisions
3-21.Views:138This paper investigates the reason behind the modest level of international migration in the presence of vast development disparities and low mobility costs. It is argued that this can be explained by the psychic aspects of migration. In the applied approach, psychic costs are not included in mobility costs; instead, they arise from the interconnectedness of people and their altruist attitudes. The study claims that this kind of psychic connection, defined as loyalty, may play a more important role in migration decisions.
