Exploring The Long-Term Impact of Music Therapy on Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities: A Comprehensive Narrative Review
Views:72This narrative review examines the long-term effects of music therapy on individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID), including those with comorbid conditions. A systematic search of Scopus and Web of Science identified 684 records, with empirical studies meeting strict longitudinal and methodological criteria retained. The review is structured around five key dimensions: (1) participant characteristics, including ID severity and co-occurring conditions; (2) research designs and methodologies; (3) types of music therapy interventions and their comparative long-term efficacy; (4) targeted cognitive, emotional, and social abilities; and (5) the overall long-term effectiveness of music therapy. Additionally, the review investigates contextual variables and processes of change, offering a nuanced perspective on the long-term impact of music therapy. Findings reveal significant gaps in the literature, particularly the scarcity of longitudinal and follow-up studies, thereby limiting conclusive insights into sustained benefits. This review underscores the pressing need for robust, long-term research to strengthen the evidence base and optimize the use of music therapy in clinical and educational settings. Such efforts are essential for enhancing cognitive functioning, emotional regulation, social interaction, and overall well-being among individuals with ID.

The Impact of Video Gaming on 0-12-Year-Old Children’s Visual Cognitive Abilities: Narrative Review
157-170Views:168This narrative review explores the growing prevalence of video gaming among children and its impact on their visual cognitive development, particularly attentional mechanisms and visual information processing. As games are introduced at younger ages and become increasingly prevalent, concerns emerge about their effects on developing cognitive systems. The review synthesises current evidence on how fast-paced video games challenge children’s visual processing, filling a gap in the literature, which has mostly focused on adolescents and adults. It outlines childhood gaming habits, key visual cognitive developments, and the effects of gaming on these processes. Research suggests that video gaming can enhance spatial-visual attention and stimulus processing speed; however, the effects vary depending on age, game type, offline engagement, and parental involvement. Early and excessive gaming may lead to cognitive overload and attention difficulties that extend beyond gaming contexts. While games may enhance divided attention, these skills often fail to transfer effectively to real-world tasks, such as learning. The review concludes with practical considerations for age-appropriate, balanced gaming to support healthy cognitive development.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ETHICAL LEADERSHIP ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW
101-112Views:535This paper's goal is to develop an appropriate systematic literature review of the research that has investigated how ethical leadership affects employees' performance within an enterprise. The growth of multinational corporations provides a new dimension to the investigation of leadership that takes into account the effect of diverse country cultures. This systematic literature review analyzed publications and articles published within the last decade (2009- 2020). Based on the overall research of the 19 analyzed studies top managers, leaders, and supervisors are supposed to set a good example for their team members and employees by modeling ethical behavior. The effectiveness of top managers and leaders on employees and their performance has been thoroughly investigated in many research. All hypotheses were supported by the data collected from 19 papers, which showed that ethical leadership improves employees' in-role job performance. These findings have important research and practical consequences. Additionally, since ethical leadership is seen to be essential in enhancing the accepted business strategy in the achievement of organizations’ objectives and goals, this research will concentrate on the effects of an ethical leadership style on the performance of employees.

The author of the book review, Dr. Adrienn Oravecz, who was also born with cerebral palsy, consciously chose the quotes in the review, trusting that they will make the readers think. On the one hand, the book can also be read as a developmental novel, because the reader is involved in the story from the moment of Emma's birth until the end of her university studies. On the other hand, it is also excellent as a characterization, since in the work we get to know many teacher characters and their attitude towards Emma's disability. Quoting the writer's words the main message is the following: "I hope that Emma's character can serve as an example for my young peers that they can achieve their goals even against the odds, if they believe they can." (Gigi Forte, 2021, 458. ).

The Role of Sensory Theatre in the Field of Special Education – Results of a Systematic Literature Review
155-166Views:244This study focuses on presenting the results of a systematic literature review that examines the effects of sensory theatre in a special educational environment. The purpose of multisensory theatrical experiences is to entertain and develop the abilities of children with special educational needs, immersing them in a sensory bath and involving them in the course of the performance. The examination of the aesthetic and developmental effects of unique experiences related to sensory theatre appears in the international literature with varied terminology and a rich array of methodological recommendations. Our research was conducted based on the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) criteria, which ensure the transparency of systematic literature analysis. We found 62 articles in the EBSCO Discovery Service scientific search engine. Three authors reviewed the abstracts and, if the inclusion criteria were met, exported the full texts to Zotero for content and methodological quality assessment (N=12). Our text database, consisting of 12 empirical journal articles, was further analyzed along with 2 additional studies and a textbook. According to our results, most research aligned the immersive nature of sensory theatre with the attractiveness of educational conditions, while emphasizing the importance of experience provision in inclusive education. Sensory theatre, as a unique experience and innovative method, develops children’s abilities along moods and senses, considering the specific sensory needs and learning preferences of the participants. A limitation is that relatively few empirical studies specifically examine the effect of sensory theatre in special educational settings, as the reviewed documents often only indirectly touch on special educational processes.

Exploring Traditional Roles of Women among the Bukusu in Precolonial Kenya
169-185Views:278From existing scholarly sources, the traditional Bukusu community in western Kenya existed on a structured socio-economic, political, and cultural framework. Gender roles were played out distinctively by men and women, boys and girls. However, external factors continue to influence the contemporary community, creating a fluid and blurry distinction of roles. This paper focuses on women's roles in the traditional Bukusu community to uncover their cultural significance and impact on social structures. This article analyzes how these roles shaped the community's identity and influenced interpersonal and generational dynamics. To achieve this objective, the study uses a comprehensive literature review methodology and authors’ observations from the Bukusu community to identify patterns, contradictions, and gaps in the current body of knowledge. The literature review synthesizes data from ethnographic studies, historical texts, and relevant scholarly works; hence, this article provides a basis for understanding the historical and cultural significance of the roles of Bukusu women. We establish that women's traditional roles in the Bukusu community were based on the community's patrilineal structure, some of which continue to be reinforced. These included marriage, fecundity, childbearing, caregiving, food security, home management, ownership and wealth sources, and craftsmanship. In contrast, others continue to undergo significant transformations due to underlying factors that are not the focal point of this paper for now. Further, women's roles are deeply rooted in Bukusu cultural values and practices, which are critical in maintaining social cohesion and transmitting cultural heritage. This work is a foundation for further scholarly work on women, culture, and change.

Indigenous Knowledge and Environmental Governance – A Local Wisdom-Based Approach in Indonesia (Literature Review)
65-79Views:322This paper aims to explore how indigenous communities in Indonesia play an important role in environmental management based on local wisdom that has been passed down through generations. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research. The data for this study were obtained through a literature review. The method employed is descriptive qualitative analysis, examined through various social, anthropological, and environmental theories. These theories highlight the close relationship between social norms, ecological knowledge, and environmental sustainability. The results of the literature study indicate that various indigenous communities in Indonesia implement sustainable ecological systems through traditional conservation practices, such as the subak system in Bali, sasi for marine and terrestrial resources in Maluku, and prohibitions on indiscriminate tree cutting in Waerebo and among the Baduy community. This system is based on cultural and spiritual values that emphasize the balance between humans and nature. However, the continuity of this indigenous system faces challenges from modernization, the exploitation of natural resources, as well as changes in land use policies and marine environmental pollution. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of legal protection and inclusive policies that recognize the rights of indigenous communities in environmental management. Integrating local wisdom with modern conservation policies is a strategic step towards achieving sustainable development based on the participation of indigenous communities. This study contribute to social cultural and environment areas.

Exploring the Efficacy of Student Community Service Programs (KKN) in Higher Education Institutions: A Case Study in Indonesia

Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) was appeared in a decree from the Department of Higher Education for the first time in 1973 (Kisnawat, 2009). In this study we present the origin of Kuliah Kerja Nyata and its policies implemented in the university, a description of Kuliah Kerja Nyata appeared on the universities’s websites, such as the University of Gajah Mada and Bandung Institute of Technology's website, and the benefits of its implementation for the stakeholders. This publication aims to review community service programs and promote community service in higher education. We present a synthetic literature review related to student community service. This publication offer how the Kuliah Kerja Nyata program has been effectively implemented in indonesian universities for students and lecturers.

CHILD CONCEPTION AND CHILDHOOD NARRATIVES IN THE LIGHT OF CRITICAL PEDAGOGY, CHILDHOOD SOCIOLOGY AND NARRATIVE PSYCHOLOGY
41-52Views:378In my thesis I attempt to define the basic concepts of the historical research of child conception and child perception, I try to emphasize the significance of narratives of childhood, and I point to the connection between the child conception, child perception, and the narratives. In the Hungarian pedagogical press, there aren’t yet carefully developed definitions, theoretical approaches regarding the researches of child conception and child perception, and that’s why we have to review that subject. My study contains three main parts. In the first chapter I review the connections between the everyday pedagogical attitudes or perspectives and the child ideologies, then I analyze the relationship between the development-based pedagogy and the everyday pedagogical discourses, but I attempt to define the contemplative pedagogical attitude too. In chapter II I outline the concepts of child conception (child image) and child perception, and I point the relation between these concepts and the narratives of childhood. The last chapter is a summary with practical aspects, but I don’t show the paradigms of childhood history. In my theoretical overview, I try to answer that question: what kind of resources, components we can find in the different pedagogical views, and how to do these works under our researches. In my view, the child ideologies determine the pedagogical discourses of the different ages, and instead of the totalizing child conception of development-bases pedagogy we try to find new paradigms, e. g. the narrative psychology, the critical pedagogy and the new childhood-sociology, therefore these paradigms are more efficient for the child-rearing practices and our researches. Namely, we can’t vocalize the children’s perspective by the comparison to the adult gauge, therefore we prefer the contemplative, narrative methods, which leave open the frame of interpretation (reference).

IS ABSOLUTE PITCH A SPECIAL ABILITY OR SOMETHING WE ALL HAVE? A REVIEW BASED ON GENETIC, NEUROSCIENTIFIC AND EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGICAL FINDINGS
69-75Views:266Absolute pitch (AP), the ability to identify and produce musical pitches without a reference point, is extremely rare and is considered to be a special ability. Although research has focused on this topic for decades, there is no consensus about why AP only occurs in 1 out of 10.000 individuals and how it is acquired. Therefore, the present article aims to review and reconcile the previous findings in order to understand the potential contribution of training and genetics in AP acquisition. Based on experimental psychological and genetic findings, it is concluded that although some components of AP are implicit and exist in the general population, both early musical training and genetic factors are crucial for AP development. This conclusion is supported by neuroscientific findings that provide evidence for differences in activations in specific brain areas between AP possessors and non-possessors.

THE ISSUES OF TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES TO LEARNERS WITH A SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITY
31-52Views:650To make language teaching effective, it is important to consider the forms of language teaching, especially when we talk about learners with a specific learning disability. Our theoretical paper tries to review the literature of language teaching and dyslexia. The goal of our paper is to briefly present the definitions of dyslexia as well as to describe its signs and symptoms. This paper deals with the issues of language acquisition and language teaching, focusing on the difficulties which emerge when learning English. A dyslexic learner usually has difficulties in reading and writing in his L1, their reading is slower and they have problems with reading comprehension too. Besides the possible difficulties, we also discuss the strengths of dyslexic learners as their most important compensating skills are global/holistic thinking, visualisation, creativity, and problem-solving. Our paper also deals with the regulations governing language teaching in schools and the issues of choosing the language to learn at school. In higher education and in the world of work, speaking foreign languages and having language certificates are advantages, consequently, it is necessary to have appropriate course material. Language learners with dyslexia also have to take a school-leaving exam /GCSE in a foreign language, which is why our paper also deals with the output of language teaching in schools as well as the possibilities for dyslexic candidates offered by some Hungarian language exams (ORIGO, BME, DExam, ECL) The paper also mentions the issues of course material and language course books, as well as addressing the question of inclusive teaching for dyslexic learners. We also discuss the competencies required by a Special Educator as a language teacher, as he/she can help students, not only in learning English but also in the integration process.
