INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IMPLEMENTED IN THE FORM OF EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: CASE STUDY
35-46Views:490The aim of inclusive education is to adapt educational requirements, educational organization and learning conditions to the needs and capabilities of each pupil in a multifaceted way. Inclusive education is implemented by the educational systems of the European Union Member States. In Poland its history began in the 1990s. Many activities are currently being undertaken to create the best possible conditions for the development of the potential of each pupil. The school environment in cooperation with the family is responsible for taking all possible measures to eliminate barriers which prevent the child from being given proper education. In particular, this task is related to the care for a child with disabilities. In the Polish educational system, there are many forms of implementing the postulate of inclusive education. It is worth emphasizing the activity of day-care centres which provide extra-curricular education for children. The school day-care centre is a place where inclusive education is a daily practice. The article presents a case study of the activity of a day-care centre in one of the schools with inclusive classes in Krakow. The description of the day-care centre functioning made it possible to present the diversity of activities undertaken in it. The data was extended by referring to the opinions of parents and children.

One way to take ownership of our own learning is student-centered teaching and learning. In this process several elements are important: constructivist activities, metacognitive reflections, student and professor partnerships, collaborative/cooperative efforts, authentic assessments, active and on-going student engagement in the work to learn, explicit teaching of important skills, student control of at least some of their learning, peer and professor/teacher feedback, and learning-based, to a large extent, on student effort.

The Evolution of Internet Use and Cyberbullying in the Lives of Child-Ren with Learning Disabilities - Based on the Experiences of a Qualitative Pilot Study
7-18Views:587As the Internet spreads, its disadvantages are also becoming more and more widespread, alongside its advantages. In this study, we examine the Internet usage habits of 14-18 year-old students with learning disabilities using a qualitative method, by asking the opinions of the teachers and special education teachers (n=8) who teach them. In the pilot study, we explore how and to what extent school and online bullying appears in the lives of students, and who is more often affected by such attacks. Based on the results of our research, according to the teachers, children with learning disabilities encounter offline bullying more often at school than online, with verbal and physical abuse being the most common. Gender, type of disability, specific characteristics, and family background are determinants of victimization. However, due to the small sample size in the pilot study, the results obtained are only of an attention-grabbing nature, and draw attention to the necessity of further research into the phenomenon.

SUPPORTING A STUTTERING STUDENT AT SCHOOL
91-104Views:604Stuttering is a disability of tempo and rhythm in the speech that students, special education teachers, and speech therapists face in their daily work. Previously, stuttering has been researched from the perspective of speech therapy and speech therapists. This research is however based on the opinions of the youngsters in question. One percent of the population are considered stutterers as per Guitar’s (1998) theory — which would mean that in Estonia, approximately 1,500 students are stutterers. Students spend a large and valuable part of their day and leisure time at school. It is therefore essential that teachers and advisors are aware and competent in providing support to stuttering students as needed. These students do not receive enough support and attention, as stuttering is considered a disability that does not distract teachers from doing their job. It can be assumed that teachers do not change their methods and systems in evaluating a stuttering student. It is nevertheless crucial that the student with the impediment feels safe and good at school and can express their thoughts in speech. The aim of this research is to find out how stuttering students cope in their school environment. The research also focuses on the experiences of teachers and support specialists in order to understand their cooperation when assisting a stuttering student.

Effect of Two Instructional (Project And Inquiry ) Strategies on Students’ Achievement in Selected Biological Abstract Concepts
33-43Views:218The purpose of this study was to ascertain how two instructional strategies—project and inquiry—affect students' mastery of particular abstract biological concepts. The study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. 120 SS II Biology students were chosen at random from six coeducational schools located in two Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state of Kwara. Treatment groups were assigned to participants at random. The Biology Student Achievement Test (r=0.88) and the Teachers' Instructional Guide on Project and Inquiry Strategies were the instruments utilised. Two theories were developed and put to the test at the significance level of 0.05. The intervention had a significant main effect on students' achievement on a subset of selected biological abstract concepts (F(2, 107) =12.061; p<0.05, partial η2 = 0.184), according to an analysis of covariance conducted on the gathered data. The students in the Conventional Strategy (CS) control group have the lowest adjusted mean achievement values (x ̅ = 17.20), whereas the students in the Project Strategy (PS) treatment group 1 have the highest adjusted mean achievement values (x ̅ = 23.21). It is indicated that PS > IS > CS is the order. The mean growth in accomplishment values for male students was higher at 21.94, compared to 17.13 for female students. Project and inquiry methodologies should be implemented in order to raise students' accomplishment in biology's abstract concepts, according to the findings.

FORMS OF AGGRESSION IN SCHOOLS AS DETERMINING FACTORS IN GAINING SOCIAL STATUS IN A SCHOOL GROUP
55-66Views:375In our study, we have focused on the relationship between certain types of aggression and the sociometric status of primary school children, considering the effect of these factors on the hostile character of cognitions that aggressive children generate towards their peers. Sample: Our sample consisted of 321 primary school children from Transylvania (M=10.25 years, SD= 0.71), out of which 61.4% were of Romanian and 36.8% of Hungarian ethnicity. Method: our instruments measured the type of aggression, the sociometric status of children within the classroom, and the type of hostile cognitions towards peers. Results: gender differences and sociometric status has an effect on types of aggressive behavior. The results are useable in the field for prevention and intervention.

How to Use Artificial Intelligence in Education for Teaching?

This study examines the positive and negative effects of AI on education and, through a review of the literature, summarizes the arguments for and against its use.

DEVELOPMENT OF LOGICAL-MATHEMATICAL ABILITIES OF HEARING IMPAIRED STUDENTS THROUGH THE USE OF BOARD GAMES

Our research focuses on studying the effectiveness of using board games in developing basic mathematical skills and logical thinking in students with hearing impairment. Sample: n = 10 (2 females, 10 males) hearing impaired pupils (average age = 11,6 years). Method: an examination of logical-mathematical abilities before and after development. Result: strategic and logic-based games significantly impacted the development of mathematical skills and knowledge acquisition in mathematics.

Leisure Activities and Preferences of Students Participating in Adaptive Physical Education
7-18Views:66The aim of the study was to explore the leisure time habits of students participating in adapted physical education and to examine the underlying dimensions of leisure preferences and their socio-demographic relationships. The questionnaire-based survey involved parents of 202 students from Debrecen. Data analysis was performed using SPSS Statistics 31. Factor analysis was applied to identify the underlying dimensions of leisure activities, while non-parametric statistical tests were used to examine the relationships between background variables and the identified factors. The results revealed three distinct factors: cultural, digital, and sport-oriented leisure activities. Significant relationships were found between cultural and sport-oriented leisure activities and parental educational level as well as financial status, while digital leisure activities were primarily associated with gender and age. The findings highlight that the leisure habits of students participating in adapted physical education are significantly influenced by socio-demographic factors. From a practical perspective, the study may contribute to the development of health promotion and educational programs supporting active and healthy leisure activities among children and adolescents.

The Relationship between Spatial Orientation and Mathematical Performance among High School Students
17-26Views:207Research studies indicate that the development of spatial orientation is crucial for understanding science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Based on this, we investigated whether there is a correlation between the mathematics grades of middle school students and their performance on various visual perception tasks. The visual perception tasks we used fell into two categories. In the first, participants had to select the development of 3D shapes from a set of given options. For each 3D shape, we offered 4-4 possible developments. In total, participants had to solve 13 tasks. In the second type of task, they also had to choose a pattern matching the presented stimulus from four possibilities. The patterns were 5x5 squares of increasing complexity, initially consisting of two, then three, and finally four colour combinations. A total of 32 students participated in the survey, comprising 12 boys and 20 girls, all of whom were high school students. The level of correlation between scores on the tasks and grade 9 marks in mathematics was investigated. The results of the statistical analysis revealed no significant difference in performance between boys and girls in each task. The performance in the two different types of functions showed a strong positive correlation (p<.05) with each other, both when the performance of girls was considered and when the performance of all students was compared. Furthermore, there was no strong correlation between the mathematics grade score and the other variables. The probable reason for this is the significantly higher proportion of numeracy tasks and a relatively low proportion of geometry tasks in the mathematics grade. A limitation of the study is the small sample size and the fact that only high school students were examined. Considering the results and limitations of our pilot study, it is promising to extend the survey to a larger sample of mixed-grade students from secondary schools and technical schools, investigating the relationship with additional subjects.

CHANGING THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN AND STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS IN SCHOOL YEARS 2009/2010 AND 2019/2020
19-29Views:3224The goal of the present study is to analyze the changing number of children and students with special educational needs in the 2009/2010 and 2019/2020 school years. Sample: 77 844 children/students in the 2009/2010 school year, and 91 331 children/students in the 2019/2020 school year. Method: Secondary data collection was applied with the data of the Hungarian Central Statistic Office. Descriptive statistics and a chi-square test was used for data analysis. Results: the number of children and students with special educational needs increased: the difference was more than ten thousand people. The results can be used from the teaching of special educators to the support of children with special needs and their teachers, special educators, and families.

UNVEILING INTERNATIONAL DOCTORAL STUDENTS’ SOCIAL ADAPTATION IN HUNGARY

Knowing the social adaptation of international students, especially doctoral students, gave me another perspective on social adaptation in higher education. The study aimed to uncover the social adaptation of international students in Hungary. And to understand how international students adapted to society in Hungary. This study method is qualitative research design, and the instrument of the study was the semi-structured interview. The study also presents descriptive statistics on demographic data. In our sample, there were seven international students who were from Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, and Iraq. interview and demographic data. The language of the interview was English. This study identified eleven categories in the students’ adaptation. They were personality, the first visited place, the first friend, adaptation types, ways to make acquaintances, time adjustment, challenges in social adaptation, factors in social adaptation, setting social adaptation, self-reflection, and unfamiliar activities or new habits.

REVISION OF HUNGARIAN VERSIONS OF THE ALTERNATIVE USES AND CIRCLES CREATIVITY TESTS IN CASES OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS STUDENTS
41-47Views:1854Although time plays a role as a latent or explicit factor in all creative processes, a direct examination of the role of time occurs less frequently in creativity research (Mező K., 2017; Mainemelis, 2002; Runco, 1999). This study focuses on the revision of Hungarian versions of creativity tests because the last standardization of these tests had been for more than 30 years. The applied tests were the Alternative Uses Test (as verbal creativity test), the Circles Test (as a figural test), and the Raven nonverbal intelligence test (as a complementary means of study). The sample of this study was 1363 elementary and secondary school students, whose 35331 responses were recorded and analyzed. According to the results, the differences in scores of the old and new (revised) evaluation tables of all tests and age groups are significant (p ≤ 0,05). From the viewpoint of the revised scores, there is a significant difference with respect to fluency, originality, and flexibility in both tests and all age groups. However, the differences in scores of other indicators (average originality, relative flexibility, and revised average originality) are not significant.

Supporting Students with Anxiety in Their Studies
83-98Views:457Anxiety is a prevalent mental health issue among children and adolescents, which can have a detrimental impact on their personal relationships and academic performance. This study aimed to identify the manifestations of anxiety in educational settings, the effects of anxiety on educational activities, and the types of support that should be provided to students with anxiety. The following research questions guided this study: 1) How is anxiety expressed among 13-14-year-old students when in school? 2)How does anxiety affect the 13-14-year-old students' educational activities? 3) What kind of support should be provided to students with anxiety at school? The participants were 26 students aged 13-14 from various Estonian schools. The data was gathered for analysis via interviews and a questionnaire. A mixed-methods approach was employed. According to the research, children experience anxiety both before and during a test or presentation. It appears that each student expresses fear at school in a different way. Students who learn remotely report feeling less anxious during class activities. This is because they do not have to answer in front of the class or turn on the camera when participating in online lessons. Furthermore, students aged 13-14 prefer to talk to their friends who are also experiencing anxiety than to adults who do not understand their anxiety. Finally, the students' answers revealed that the teacher should ask all the students with equal frequency to present their homework. It is also recommended that anxious students be supported by helping them recall what they have learned and use different methods to assess their knowledge. The students stated that they require a quiet and safe place to be alone at school. There is a need to raise awareness about anxiety symptoms and ways for teachers to support students.
