The study aims to explore the recruitment patterns and motivational backgrounds of students entering vocational teacher education. The research focuses on part-time vocational teacher students at Dunaújváros University, who come from various industrial sectors. The empirical survey was conducted in spring 2025 through an online questionnaire, completed by 100 respondents. The questions addressed the reasons for choosing the teaching profession, the relationship between professional experience and motivation, and attitudes towards the teaching role. The findings reveal that students are primarily motivated by a commitment to knowledge sharing, professional growth, and a desire for a stable career. At the same time, some responses indicate uncertainty about the prestige and practical challenges of the teaching profession. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of recruitment trends in vocational teacher education and may serve as a basis for improving the content and support elements of teacher training programs.

The development and transformation of vocational teacher education grounded in university traditions has been analysed by several Hungarian researchers (Ballér 1991; Katona 2015; Orosz 2003; Patyi 2021). There are also studies that trace the evolution of individual programmes—such as engineering teacher education (Holik, Nemes-Németh and Sanda 2021; Horváth 2013), agricultural engineering teacher education (Surányi 2018), and economics teacher education (Antal and Baksa 2013) from their inception to the present day. Beyond historical and structural analyses, research has also addressed the methodological and curricular characteristics of these programmes (Benedek and Szabóné Berki 2011). However, only a limited number of studies have examined the recruitment base of applicants entering vocational teacher training (Szabóné Berki 2015; Engler et al. 2017; Máté-Szabó 2019). More recently, scholarship in the field has shifted towards VET-pedagogical perspectives and methodological renewal (Rádli 2011; Tóth 2012; Szabóné Berki 2015; Tordai 2015; Holik 2016), as well as institutional case studies (Bacsa-Bán 2014; Tóth 2011; Nagyné 2024). The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the sociocultural background, prior educational pathways, and learning motivations of students enrolled in Hungarian vocational teacher education. Our research examined 215 students across four study programmes: agricultural engineering teacher, health teacher, economics teacher, and engineering teacher education. Findings show that vocational teacher training predominantly enrols adult learners who typically possess multiple degrees, substantial professional experience, and a stable family background. The study also explores geographical access to programmes, students’ satisfaction, and their attitudes towards learning. Regarding learning motivation, two key dimensions were identified: emotional–self-realisation motives and external, instrumental drivers. Results indicate that family status exerts a significant influence on intrinsic motivation; single students demonstrate substantially stronger knowledge-acquisition and self-development intentions compared to married or divorced peers.

The aim of our study to show the diversion system in Hungary and the motivation of clients who have been diverted. The institution of diversion was introduced in our country in 1993, which offers treatment to drug users instead of punishment in case of possession of a small amount of drugs. During our empirical investigations, our goal was to explore the substance use habits and motivation of diverted clients. For this purpose, we conducted semi-structured interviews with ten people starting diversion, which we supplemented with the inclusion of a diagnostic test for measuring motivation (URICA). The results of our research support the results of previous research on the topic, according to which the clients willingness to cooperate and motivation is low, which can thus lead to the ineffectiveness of the diversion.

Even in the most advanced parts of the world, in many cases it can be a serious challenge for a person with reduced mobility or someone otherwise disabled to find sporting possibilities satisfying his/her special needs, especially if he/she wants to do sports close to his/her place of residence. Considering that it is (or in many cases: it should be)of great importance for people with and without disabilities to lead an active lifestyle, and the regrettable fact that, according to research data available, the proportion of those who do parasports is far from the percentage of those athletes with no disabilities, it would be extremely beneficial to explore the underlying causes and to outline policies that can be supported without hesitation by any regime or political direction. In the course of writing this study, we have set ourselves the goal of getting closer to solving this problem by reviewing publications of the past 15 years that focus on the motivational factors and opportunities of disabled athletes, and at the same time providing a synopsis of this topic that can serve as a starting point for further research.

The international literature defines the phenomenon of migration with the intention to work with the help of different theories and paradigms, and looks for the cause and effect relation between them which could explain the different migration waves. Recent researches into migration have shown the features of trans-nationalism and the increased rate of migrant mothers. Due to feminisation of migration, millions of women have become the breadwinners far from their homes in another county, and have also changed the division of labour within the family. The former physically present motherly care has been replaced by distant and material care provided by the mother. In my study, the engagement of mothers in the process of migration is approached in three dimensions: an overview of international literature is followed by regional as well as local research. The analysis of the migration stories from mothers focus on how working abroad appears in their life stories, and what the underlying reasons might have been.

Several studies provided instruments, with the possibility to measure self-assessment and coping strategies. This study aimed to study differences in coping strategies by age groups and gender in handball players. For psychological profile the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory (ACSI-28) was applied, at elite Hungarian junior handball teams (n=288) in 2016-2017. On the scales Coping with Adversity and Freedom From worry males acquired significantly higher average values, females showed higher mean values of Goal Setting / Mental Preparation and Coachability. On Freedom from Worry, the oldest players performed the best, Coachability was highest in the youngest group. High values of Concentration were measured by playmakers, which was significantly higher than that of other offensive roles. With the results of our study, we would like to draw attention to the fact that for successful preparation, the knowledge of the athlete's coping skills and their self-knowledge are in dispensable.
