In our study, we examined the relationships between dealing with companion animals and mental health. The aim was to analyze associations of attitudes related to pets with life satisfaction, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. In our online, cross-sectional survey, 297 participants were included (89.5% females, aged between 18 and 85 years), the data were collected in the second half of the year 2023. The attitudes related to pets were measured by using the CENSHARE Pet Attachment Scale which involved eight factors using exploratory factor analysis. The attitudes of attachment and closeness showed a positive relationship with life satisfaction. Time spent with pets and dealing and communicating with them was negatively associated with life satisfaction and well-being, and positively with depression and anxiety. For those who are prone to depression and less satisfied with their life, dealing with pets may serve as a therapy, except for steming from hypocrisy.

In our study, we present the domestic aspects of work-related attitudes, focusing on the period after the turn of the millennium. In our analytical work, we aimed to examine the characteristics of job satisfaction, work-related attitudes, and work-related stress in a database of two national and one county seat. In our writing, in addition to the descriptive analysis of the three databases, we focus on exploring possible changes and differences in time and space. According to our results, the job satisfaction of the respondents of the two national surveys shows almost the same pattern, while the opinion of the local society shows a different and more unfavorable picture. This can be explained, among other things, by the fact that our local survey took place in one of the most disadvantaged counties of the country, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. In addition, it should be emphasized that the location of our research, as the county seat, still has more favorable conditions than other settlements in its agglomeration. The other two national databases that form the basis of the analysis were created within the framework of the International Social Survey Program. Based on Herzberg's two-factor model, we can conclude that certain factors belonging to the group of external motivations, such as favorable earnings, job security are equally important for all groups of respondents. This is consistent with the terminology of work as a core value for livelihood. According to the national sample conducted in 2005, the internal motivational factors, such as the interest and usefulness of the work, and the importance of the work that can be done independently were the most decisive. The opinions of the 2015 national and 2018 local respondents were nearly the same in this respect. Overall, it can be stated that both the differences and the similarities characterize the job satisfaction, work attitude and work-related stress situation of the respondents of the three survey years. The issue of divergence and convergence is shaped not only by regional characteristics, but also by social and economic processes and the social and individual responses to them.

The study presents the methodology of the Szeged Studies research series launched by the Department of Sociology of the University of Szeged in 2000 and the opinions of the city's residents on some key social phenomena. The representative survey research, carried out annually for 25 years, explores the social, environmental and security processes of the city in a multidisciplinary approach. The methodology is based on empirical data collection and field research based on face-to-face interviews and surveys (PAPI, CAPI), in which university students play an active role. In our study, we analyse changes in public trust, public safety, migration attitudes and environmental awareness in a longitudinal and cross-sectional approach. Our results show that over the past 25 years, the overall perception of security among the citizens of Szeged has improved, while concerns about climate change have increased. Overall, attitudes towards foreigners have moved towards acceptance, with fluctuations. Levels of trust in institutions are low, except among older and less educated groups, where they are higher. The aim of this series of studies is to explore the complex factors affecting the functioning of local society and to contribute to the practice-oriented development of sociology education.

The study is based on a questionnaire survey carried out in 2017-2018. It analyses the attitudes of school leaders in Szeklerland (n=238) based on two main aspects in the topics that determine the everyday school work and leadership: (1) the relationship between school and local society and (2) the social context. The importance of this topic is indicated by the changes in the role of schools, teachers and school leaders in the 21st century, which have created different challenges for rural schools and areas compared to urban ones, and which can be addressed in new ways. These new processes require a change of approach in school management, which is not only a matter of school management and education, but also of rural development. The aim of the study is to draw attention to the relevance of this process by referring to the literature and by analysing the attitudes of school leaders in Szeklerland.

The study examines the question of what factors shape attitudes towards education in Szeklerland (Romania) and what role the rural character of the rural Hungarian regional society plays in shaping attitudes towards school and learning. Due to the specific situation of Szeklerland, four factors frame Hungarian education in the region: the official state institutional system, the minority situation, the regional identity-building process and the way the regional rural society functions. The study summarises the research results of WAC - Center for Regional and Anthropological Research in Miercurea-Ciuc and discusses the ways in which the lifestyle, values and norms of local or micro-regional communities frame the everyday attitude of families and parents towards education. The authors emphasise that the relationship between education and local or micro-communities, which has developed over the past decades and is still relevant today, is characterised by a parallelism in which both distance and interconnectedness are constantly present.

In addition to the employment characteristics of the target group, we explore their employment attitudes, work value preferences and related gender and social roles. Our results show a positive change in the employment situation of the local society, although general labour market insecurity remains to be seen.

Introduction: The health and illness behavior of women and men is an important area of study in the sociology of health. Digital health solutions have an impact on these phenomena as well.
Methods: Our research is based on 2 representative population-based questionnaire surveys, which were done in 2021 (n= 1500) and 2024 (n=1100) respectively. In our study we used descriptive methods to analyze online health-related information seeking behavior, digital health-related options and tools.
Results: The results show that although women continue to make a higher use of some digital health solutions such as e-prescription and telemedicine, the gap between men and women has decreased in other areas such as transferring health data, while men took the lead in smart device use. Population data for 2024 indicate that the gap between men and women in the use of health information resources has also narrowed significantly.
Summary: Our 2021 research shows a clear female dominance in both online health information searching and using digital solutions. By 2024, these differences have narrowed significantly, and digital health solutions have become part of everyday life. This is indicated by the almost 80% awareness and use of e-prescription, online appointment booking and EESZT.
