  • Evolution of Lean Management and the Organizational Learning

    In industry, service and public sector lean approach is gaining ground. However, there is a significant difference between the organizations applying lean concept in case of their lean transformation maturity level as well as their lessons learned. There is a huge variety of methods and techniques which can be used but there are two conditions in case of every organization regardless their sector or their lean maturity level which determine the success of their lean development: lean approach leader and learning organization. Lean leadership is not based on a particular sector or method and a ready-made lean organization is not needed either. The concept of the top management has a huge effect on the characteristics of theorganization but whether the will of the management is enough for the complete transformation or not is the question. Is the target the lean organization itself or how a unit of an organization or the whole organization can react to the change of the environment? The attitudes and behaviors of lean approach leadership can be applied every day, everywhere and support the aim of creating a real lean organization.

  • Battery Measurement Methods and Artificial Intelligence Applied in Energy Management Systems

    Diagnostics of batteries using advanced methods have gained remarkable roles in the past few years. This study focuses on the type of measurements, tests and methods to reveal and classify them. During manufacturing and operation several faults could emerge in batteries including non-optimal operation conditions, operators without experience, and finally, random changes in batteries under physical and nonphysical conditions. Improper handling of batteries and battery cells man cause operation failures or, in the worst case, accidents. To reveal these problems several methods are applied in industry and in scientific laboratories. For a comprehensive analysis of battery management, artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 methods can be used very effectively. Big Data analysis in its standard form is not a new achievement, but other mathematical tools could be applied to control monitoring such as Fuzzy Logic or Support Vector Machine (SVM). They are efficient tools to analyse the deviation of batteries condition because it can detect sudden changes, parameter deviations and anomalies, and the user’s behaviour and habits. This article gives a description about the most important battery testing methods and the connection between Big Data and Operation Management with Artificial Intelligent (AI) methods.

    If we are open-minded in our everyday life, we should not overlook the phenomenon of student work. Within the framework of this study, our aim was to examine the work experience, later employment plans and income needs of students starting their studies at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Debrecen. In addition, we analyze the most important sources related to student work through literature studies.

    It is important to pay attention to changing attitudes of newcomers to higher education as they become active job seekers after graduation. At the Faculty of Economics of the University of Debrecen, about 1,700 students started their studies in the 2019/2020 academic year. Our research was conducted with the involvement of these students.

    The data were collected among students participating in the stork camp organized by the University of Debrecen. The survey covers, among other things, the initial salary requirements, previous work experience, future plans, including the willingness to work abroad, and factors that are taken into account when choosing a job.

    The upcoming industrial-social revolution, which may be called the 5.0, is emphasizing the coordination of the value-creating work of technology (machine) and man. This approach wishes to move towards sustainability, which deserves a significant role in nowadays through the world empathizing the negative effects of the wolrd. During my research I was looking for the answer that how the extended industry 4.0 and its tone be in Hungary via supply chain of the automotive industry. During my research I was looking for the answer that how the extended industry 4.0 be in Hungary and its tune through supply chain of the automotive industry. I also have examined that which changes are justified regarding management systems in interest of efficiency and emphasizing the human capital by leaders interviewed. As a part of qualitative research in-depth expert interviews were interpreted with help of content analysis based on the methodology of grounded theory. The results demonstrate the need to review and change existing processes in order to ensure that the potential of human capital is not lost and that technological development, even more so, is at the service of human resources in order to achieve its efficiency and effectiveness. Among the possible tools we can find the re-structurizing changes of post tracking processes of the audits in management systems providing quality. Furthermore, the practical implementation of multifactorial statistical process control in the evaluation of processed data, which may be one of the essences of industrial (IoT) data.

    Western-European management trends have been spread including modern approaches to human resource management over the past decades in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The point of the new HR conception is the strategic partner role, which is underpinned by the appreciation of human resources. There was a rapid change in the management methods of the organizations due to the socio-economic changes in the examined countries. However, in many places the personnel departments were simply renamed, and their HR staff are still concentrating on their traditional activities. These activities are important and should  be fulfilled today as well, but to play an influential role in the design and maintenance of organizational competitiveness HR should have a new, strategic attitude. The study examines HR's strategic role based on the empirical international Cranet research in Hungary and in Slovakia.

  • Examination of International Fisheries’ Agreements with Game Theoretic Approaches

    Nowadays, the application of game theoretic approaches is becoming more and more popular in different types of resource management problems. Overfishing is a growing problem worldwide and well known from literature. Unfortunately the tragedy of commons could be observed in several empirical studies in the case of international fisheries. In our paper, we focus on the examination of international agreements related the fisheries’ management (with special focus on the issues of overfishing) using game theoretic approaches. We review the history of fisheries’ agreements and the main game theoretic results, well known from literature. We highlight the main types of games applied in the previous research studies and summarize the main results related to the outcome and the stability of the game. To this topic better understood, certain empirical examples are introduced as well.

  • Implementing 5S in a Hungarian Company

    The methods and tools used by Lean management can be used for any activity that is specifically introduced to the company. On this basis, the objective of this paper is the implementation of a Lean office with a 5S system transformation into the traditional office environment of a private business. During the workflow, it is also planned to create new habits in this narrow space that will incorporate the organizational culture into the everyday life of the business making the administration more effective. The 5S concept is new and helps the company to operation on a larger scale with fewer inputs than before. Figures are made for better understanding and a Red Tag is created which is the first step of the process. Red Tag tells the employees about the history and the process which will be needed on it. The basic of lean thinking is the contunious improvement in the quality of the product while minimaxing the wastes created during the process. The Next Broker Consultancy Ltd adopted this new way of management and made sure that all the necessary measurement are taken to insure smooth flow of the process.

    With the rapidly emerging trend of employing Artificial Intelligence technologies within modern economics. This study is an attempt to fill the research gap associated with the factors that have influence with the adoption of artificial intelligence in human resources information systems on HR-leaders intention to use it. It empirically investigates the influences that trust, technological readiness, facilitating condition and performance expectancy on HR-professional’s behavioral intention to use AI in HRM. Besides, examine the moderating effect of age and experience on the proposed associations. Data were collected from by online questionnaire from 185 HR managers. A structural framework was introduced to test the relationship between study latent variables. Result exhibited that trust and performance expectancy has a significant influence on HR-professionals behavioral intention to use AI-HRIS. Trust and technological readiness showed a significant influence on HR-professionals performance expectancy of using AI-HRIS. While facilitating condition, organizational size and technological readiness did not show a significant influence on HR-professionals behavioral intention toward using AI-HRIS. Lastly, Age and Experience did not have a moderating effect on trust and performance expectancy association with the behavioral intention toward using AI-HRIS. The findings of this study contribute to the theory development of information technology diffusion in HRM.

    Many countries are making considerable efforts to achieve solutions to environmental problems that we face today and developing renewable energy resources is one of the potential long-term solutions that constitute an absolute priority from a sustainable development perspective. The usage of renewable energy is one of the critical future challenges to reduce greenhouse gas emission and decrease energy dependency at the same time. Thus, replacing traditional energy sources with renewable ones, like Hydropower and wind power to produce electricity instead of fossil fuel. The objective of this study is to find a relationship between renewable energy consumption, macroeconomic factors, and the environment. There is a reliable and significant (at 1% significant level) association between REC with GHG and GDP and a relatively strong association with EC.

  • Employment Challenges in the Second Wave of the COVID-19 Virus from a Corporate Perspective

    The changed market conditions caused by the Covid-19 virus forced companies to rethink their strategy and structure and to optimize their processes. The aim of my research is to shed light on the changes in the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic that have had a significant impact on the operation of businesses and presented them with significant challenges. For the study, I used the results of a previous questionnaire survey (Pirohov-Tóth 2020; Pirohov-Tóth, Kiss 2021), which were supplemented with a literature analysis and statistical data from the database of the Central Statistical Office. Furthermore, compared to the first wave of the virus, I examined how job productivity changed in the second wave of the virus. Finally, corporate crisis management options have been presented in my analysis, the practical application of which can contribute to re-emerging from the crisis. It can be stated that the acceleration of digitization and the widespread expansion of advanced technological tools and methods can be considered as one of the biggest positives of the viral situation, which can also mean survival for companies in this pandemic situation.

    In Hungary the wake of the first wave of the Covid-19 epidemic (March 2020), caused a decline in demand for goods and services in most sectors. There were sectors (accommodation services, art, recreation, etc.), which were economically severely burdened by the imposition of restrictive measures, and there were some (financial services, communication), which experienced the change positively. In our research, our goal was to assess the changes caused by the Covid-19 epidemic in the property, financial and profitability situation of the companies involved in car and automotive parts trading, and tire manufacturing, in Hungary, and within the country, in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. We established three hypotheses: (1) As a result of the spread of coronavirus epidemic, in Hungary and in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county as well, the profitability of companies of NAICS codes 441 (car and automotive parts trading) and 4231 (wholesale of road vehicles and parts), decreased. (2) The outbreak of the epidemic had a negative impact on the liquidity of companies established in Hungary, including Szabolcs- Szatmár-Bereg county. (3) As a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, the resource structure of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county companies, analysed in the framework of research work, transformed. To prove or disprove these, secondary research was used. Finally, we put forward conclusions and proposals for the management of the companies active in this industry.

     

  • Efficiency Analysis of Production Management System

    Due to the continuously evolving technology, even more escalating market competition has emerged between the companies. This competition is not only about the logistics related processes, it also appears to be significant for the production since the manufacturing companies form the center of global sale streams and without them the items found in logistical processes cannot be created. The role of production’s optimization and efficiency in the supply chain continuously grows since this is the part where a company’s most cost is produced. Our research objective was the examination of a company that applies various manufacturing, assembly technologies, and the used tools and softwares for this purpose were the SAP Business One ERP system and it’s add-on, called PPS One, the latter originated in Switzerland. We used these softwares to provide solutions to companies, especially to those that are dealing with manufacturing and production, for the optimization of their workflows, operations, supervising and controlling of their material. We also monitored from production technology’s elements the capacity planning, production orders, schedules, production tracking and cost accounting. We have made proposals during the analysis that might improve the company's strategy, competitiveness and increase it’s efficiency in business, and at the same time they can facilitate the company's pricing and inventory management activities.

  • CSR Reporting Practices of Hungarian Banks

    The disclosure of information on the exercise of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the tool most frequently used by companies to promote understanding of the social and environmental performance of an organisation and to improve relationships with stakeholders. For most of the world’s largest companies, reporting on non-financial information appears to be a continuing trend, so it is essential to present the new corporate reporting trends of the 21st century. The disclosure of socially responsible information will be analysed, with a focus on the application of the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines related to CSR. Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the best-known framework for voluntary reporting of environmental and social performance by business worldwide. The main objective of the paper is to explore the corporate voluntary disclosure practices of the listed and non-listed banks in Hungary. The extent of voluntary disclosure has significantly improved for decades worldwide, but the situation is not that obvious regarding the Hungarian financial sector. This paper aims to describe the status of disclosure practices of corporate sustainability in the annual reports, sustainability reports or CSR reports of the banking industry in Hungary. Also, increased corporate visibility and financial risk increase stakeholder demand for transparency on the social impact of financial institutions and their CSR practices. Finally, the analysis and subsequent comparison of available CSR reports of banks will be presented.

  • Model Calculations on the Use of Mobile and Stationary Units for Wood Pellet Production

    This paper presents the model calculations made for supporting the decision making of different technology alternatives. Base cases were A) use of a mobile pelletizer and B) using pellet factories at fixed locations for the production of a new product, sheep wool pellets. Calculations were made for three alternatives for each base case. The results of the model were used to examine the energy, time and cost criteria of the alternatives. Based on the given preliminaries, results of the model calculations supported the recommendation to choose case B) for further technology management and supply chain management decisions.

    This study aims to determine the valuation value of Henbuk's startup by conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses. Henbuk is a startup engaged in e-commerce. The Henbuk startup is currently in the initial funding stage, and the founders are opening opportunities for investors, which can later support operational and development activities. In obtaining funding from investors, the Henbuk startup requires an initial assessment of the company's value. The score assessment consists of several indicators, e.g., quality of the founder and team, opportunity size, product and technology, competition, marketing, sales and partnerships, and the need for additional investment. The results of the value assessment are obtained by using the Scorecard Assessment Method. The results of this study may help to determine the real value of other start-ups for the investors in the future.

  • Sport Consumption, Fan Engagement, Sport Statistics – Post-specific Passing Characteristics in Football

    Digitalization and the explosive development of technology have led to significant changes in football. Due to the increasing amount of data available through various sensors and other data collections, we can observe the rise of data-centric, analytical and statistically oriented thinking in football, which is also of interest to fans. Digitalisation is also closely linked to sports consumption, which is why we have seen significant changes in this area in recent years. The pandemic has further amplified the speed of digital transformation in the sports industry. One of the most important contents for sports organizations and their fans is the in-depth sports statistics and analysis that enhances the consumer experience. In our study, we examined the most common performance indicator in football, passing. Our goal was to examine the position-specific pass characteristics in detail, therefore we also examined different pass properties in our research. As a model for our analysis, I chose the premier league, which has the highest UEFA coefficient. The three rounds (rounds 30-32) of the championship season 2019/2020 have been recorded and analyzed in terms of passes. there was a significant difference between the average number of passes per game between defensive and offensive players (t=7,988, p<0.05). There is also a gradual decrease in the number of passes attempted per match and the accuracy of the pass in the examination of the middle positions when examining the positions in the depth of the pitch. For both pass accuracy and average pass count, the decreasing ranking corresponds to the position of positions on the pitch (order: 1, central defender 2, defensive midfielder 3, inside midfielder 4, attacking midfielder 5, striker). In the value indicator of the position for passes, offensive positions performed more effectively than defensive positions. The extreme positions also stand out among the attacking positions, where in the case of the position value per pass number, 23.3% of the total test was completed and 14% of the amount of the established position value indicators was provided by these posts. Overall, our study points to post-specific pass characteristics and, knowing this, we can state that the comparison of players' passing performance is relevant if the players are in the same or related positions.

    Performance evaluation is not only important in employer and employee relationships, but also in partnerships between a supply chain’s members. In order to satisfy customers’ needs according to the 7 Rights of logistics, all members of the given chain have to perform properly. To ensure the best performance, supplier evaluation can act as a starting point. Besides continous feedback, supplier evaluation plays an important role in performance development of suppliers. The aim of our research is to develop and introduce innovative supplier evaluation models, which include the advantages of traditional and electronic supplier evaluation forms. In addition to this, these models are visualised, making it easier to understand expectations and information. In this study, the aim is to present two different models the PaTeNt©- SESC (Pató Tetrahedrons of interNational Theory - Supplier Evaluation of Supply Chain) and the Douple Evaluation Platform, based on previous research.

With the global landscape of financial reporting constantly evolving, the integration of IFRS tailored specifically for SMEs marks a pivotal transition towards harmonizing financial reporting practices. This paper examines the essential elements and implications of this convergence, addressing the challenges and benefits faced by SMEs as they align with these international standards. The analysis delves into the driving factors behind the convergence, including the necessity for a unified and transparent financial reporting framework, aiming to facilitate comparability and accessibility of financial information across borders. Furthermore, the abstract discusses the potential impact on SMEs' financial reporting quality, decision-making processes, and access to capital. Through a comprehensive review of the convergence process, this abstract seeks to contribute to the understanding of the significance and implications of adopting IFRS for SMEs, thereby providing valuable insights for practitioners, regulators, and stakeholders in the financial reporting ecosystem.

  • Quality Development of a New Type Pharmaceutical Formulation

    The aims of companies to understand internal and external customer demands in order to improve their existing products and develop new ones. Product development aims at understanding customer demands that may influence the production of the product to be manufactured. As a first step in the process, the customer voice method was used to define demands with measurable parameters. A questionnaire survey was used to prioritise them, which were then compared and ranked using a preference matrix. Within the QFD method, technical parameters influencing the satisfaction of customer demands were determined. A correlation matrix was established and the relationship between the technical parameters was investigated. A competition analysis of technical parameters and customer demands was carried out. From the absolute and relative weights, it is easy to establish the order of the technical parameters, so that the most important parameter in terms of meeting the defined customer demands is the determination of the ratio of raw materials, and important parameters are chemical stability, pharmaceutical formulation and particle size.

  • The Impact of a Coronavirus Epidemic on China’s Public Debt Ratio Growth

    Public opinion in the economic profession is strongly preoccupied with the expected negative economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic. Among the consequences, special attention is paid to the increase in the gross debt of the states. Indeed, based on conventional economic knowledge, it is clear to everyone that the economic downturn and the increase in government sector expenditure will directly lead to a sharp rise in government debt. The study aims to predict an increase in China’s government debt ratio using a macroeconomic model. The study will quantify the rate of increase in China’s public debt based on four theoretically possible scenarios for the course of the coronavirus epidemic. I am aware that it is difficult to apply conventional economic knowledge to China’s state-capitalist system. This is explained by the fact that the theories of the socialist economic model do not apply to China either. At the same time, the functioning of China's economy is closer to that of market-based economies, but the country's structure as a whole cannot be integrated into this framework either. But models describing the economic development of developing national economies cannot be applied to the country either. Nonetheless, I attempt to use conventional economic economics to attempt to quantify the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on China’s sovereign debt ratio. China’s public debt growth rates calculated under different outbreak scenarios are different, but none show an increase that would call into question the financing of China’s public debt.
