  • THE SHAPING OF PSYCHOMETRIC CREATIVITY AMONGST SECONDAY GRAMMAR SCHOOL STUDENTS IN A FOUR YEAR LONGITUDINAL STUDY

    In this study, we analyze the test-retest reliability of psychometric creativity tests and their connection with intelligence. Sample: n =107 (males: 66; females: 41) secondary grammar school students. Method: in the year 2011 we applied the verbal Unusual Uses and the figural Circles creativity tests, and (as an additional test) the APM intelligence test, and we repeated these examinations in 2014. Results: there are moderate correlations between pre-and posttests (after four years) in the cases of creativity tests (rs = 0,30-0,51) and intelligence test (r = 0,53), too. The students with higher pre-test scores will probably have higher score differences between pre- and post-test than the students with lower pre-test scores (rs = 0,28-0,57).

      This study presents the decisive pedagogy of two Marias: Dr. Montessori and Dr. Hári. Dr. Montessori was the first woman in Italy who received a medical degree and it was many years later when she did pedagogical studies as well. Dr. Hári was a young medical student when she started to work with Professor Pető who had laid down the basics of Conductive Education. Dr. Montessori and Dr. Hári had a lot in common: not just their profession was the same but thanks to their hard work both pedagogy became famous internationally. Through their personality, the reader will have a glance into their educational methods as well. The topic is relevant because both educational systems make it possible for people with disabilities to integrate into society and live meaningful lives.

    The fundamental concept of the paper is in accordance with the thesis of pedagogical anthropology claiming that the school success of students in minority status is in strictly correlation with the recognition of the cultural difference by the education system. From the point of view of empirical researches related to pedagogical anthropology and education of sociology, the conceptualization of culture and cultural difference is a vital important factor.     With the spread of the visitor-friendly museum approach the professionals of the museum strive to address a visitor layer as wide as possible. It requires the professional interpretation of exhibitions for different ages. Thus, both the role of museum pedagogues and the museums as non-formal education space are appreciated increasingly. However, the nature of an exhibition also may be influenced in certain cases by the structure of the exhibition space. The Literature House of Debrecen is a long straight space divided into five smaller units, in which the permanent literature exhibition of Dreaming Hungarians can be found. The periodical exhibition with the title of ’REJTŐzködő Irodalom’ appeared in this space in a scattered way. The character of the exhibition space provided an excellent possibility for a mosaic layout and in this way for a gamified museum pedagogical activity. In our study, this method is examined in the light of the IPOO-model. The aim of the method is how to make the learning more efficient and it can also be used in an excellent way in the non-formal education environment where learning covers the presence of pieces of information conveyed by the exhibition.

    A recent study has aimed to investigate the relationship between anxiety, social skills, cognitive abilities, and the advancement in education. This is a pilot study intended to analyze the data of 10 students (age of 9 and 17 years) from the planned study of 200 students. The data collection method is secondary. As for the first results, the prevalent correlation of anxiety and low level of social skills is likely to observe. This may impair the success of adequate educational development, due to the frequent school absence and the psychical overload.

    Bass (2004) examined the living conditions of families raising severely disabled children in the framework of national data collection. His research results reflect the circumstances nearly twenty years ago. The present study aims is to compare the research results of Bass to the present living conditions of interviewees who live in Berettyóújfalu in the 2020s, revealing the changes which have occurred in their lifestyle, family relationships, and future plans in the course of the past years. We used a qualitative interview to reveal the characteristics of the living conditions of ten families living in Berettyóújfalu. According to our research results, there are positive tendencies in the families’ social situation, relationship system or in the economic activity of the parents, but they still face hardship and drawbacks in accessing public services and ensuring their child’s long-term future.

    Present study focuses on the appearance of augmentative and alternative communication in kindergartens, which are supplying children with intellectual disability. The augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) makes it possible, that as a result of the injury of the sounding speech or its deficiency the individual be able to express his communicational intention in some kind of manner (Kálmán, 2006).   In my research, I examine the opinions and personal experiences about the use of AAC of special education teachers. 21 special education teachers filled out the questionnaire. All of the special education teachers are women and they work in metropolitan kindergartens. The results indicate that the majority of children with intellectual disabilities need AAC. All of the asked special education teachers use the AAC in their work. Most of them use AAC in the course of development. It’s a young discipline, so there are many difficulties with its use.

    The phenomena of migration and diaspora are becoming more common in the context of globalization, and the idea of “home” has taken on several dimensions and complexity for dispersed populations. In order to investigate how the concept of "home" is recreated in the diaspora, this study focuses on Chinese immigrants. The study examines how culture and geography interact to define “home,” drawing on the idea of “diaspora,” and how travel affects “homemaking” in Chinese Migratory Movements. Additionally, the study discusses maintaining cultural continuity in globalization and reshaping individual and collective identities in the practices of “travelling-in-dwelling, dwelling-in-travelling” (Clifford 1992,108).

    This article pertains to the relation between high sensitivity and test anxiety. The timeliness of this study comes from the observation that although more and more research is being conducted on high sensitivity abroad, high sensitivity as a character trait has not been researched in Hungary, especially in relation to the special treatment highly sensitive children may require. In this study, the main research question is whether a higher level of sensitivity correlates positively with a higher level of test anxiety. Sample: 133 persons (attributes: Mage=15.3; gender distribution 25.56% boys, 74.44% girls; grade distribution 78.95% 9th grade, 21.05% 10th grade). Method: a questionnaire package completable anonymously online made up of 3 questionnaires. The questionnaires used were a self-constructed demographic questionnaire, the TAI-H questionnaire to measure test anxiety (Sipos, Sipos & Spielberger, 1988), and the HSPS-H questionnaire to measure sensitivity (Aron, 1999, transl. Komjáthy, 2011; Pluess, 2013). Results: students showing a higher level of sensitivity show significantly higher test anxiety levels than their less-sensitive peers. Conclusions: considering that (alongside multiple other factors) the given character trait of high sensitivity can influence test anxiety levels and conclusively also performance, it would be advisable to take students’ sensitivity into account in teaching practice.

  • THE IMPACT OF CONTINUOUS AND DIFFERENTIATED EDUCATION FOR FORMING OF COMMUNITY ATTITUDE IN STUDENTS OF SENIOR CLASSES

    Background and objectives: In longitudinal research (2006–2010) we examined the progression of upper elementary school students’ self-assessment, self-image, attitude toward community, and change in their anxiety level in order to find out to what degree carefully planned and continuously differentiated education influence these traits of students’ behaviour. In this present study, we address the change in their attitude toward the community.   Method: We used the measurement tool developed by Hunyadyné and modified by Tóth for measuring the attitude toward the community (Appendix 1). Hypothesis: We assumed that as a result of differentiation the upper elementary school students’ attitude toward community will progress earlier and more effectively in the pilot than the control group (school community, the society; the class’ cohesion force, self-government’s role and competence, the function of public opinion, potential sociometric relation within the class, group activities). Results: The controlled and planned differentiated development made the areas of attitude toward community advance more in the pilot group than in the group going under only scarce differentiated development. We experienced significant differences in the scales of relation to the broader community, group activity, and class cohesion. Conclusions: Results justify that appropriate differentiated development has got an advantageous impact on attitude toward the community.

    The IQ-paradox: although the intellectual abilities are better and better of the new generations (it is the so-called Flynn-effect, the speed of intellectual growth is 3 IQ-point per decade), the average IQ stays 100 IQ-point in case of every generation. This article shows some factors in the background of IQ-paradox: concept, tests, and score-types of intelligence, and it demonstrates the absurd consequences of speed-rate of Flynn-effect. At last, this article gives an explanation of IQ-paradox.
