  • THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MENTAL HEALTH AND LEISURE SPORT

    Thanks to today’s accelerated world, the number of mental illnesses has multiplied, and chronic stress, lack of self-confidence, depression are all present in people’s everyday lives. Just as physical activity is essential for the existence of physical health, so physical activity is essential for maintaining and improving mental health. The research examines the mental health and sports habits of the next generation. Focusing on stress management ability, the importance of stress relief. Examining the answers obtained, we primarily compare the sports habits of the examined persons with the mental factors in order to explore the connections. During the research, as a primary procedure, we conducted a questionnaire survey, in the framework of which we analyzed the responses of 331 people. 72.3% of young people living in Debrecen chose grade 3-4 (on a scale of 4) when asked about their degree of stress management skills. In the same survey, 52.5% of young adults who do not engage in sports feel that they have good or near-good stress management skills. A 19.8% higher proportion of athletes responded from their experience that they have good stress management skills than individuals who do not engage in sports or rarely do so. Respondents consider helping concentration (rated 5.8 on a scale of 7) and stress relief (5.8) to be the most important positive effects of sport. Respondents, regardless of which category they belong to in terms of sports habits, consider stress relief as a factor affecting mental health in sport. 85% of athletes and 80.7% of non-athletes consider the stress-relieving effect of sport to be important, so the result presents only a 4.3% difference, which is negligible. Yet this can be accounted for as a positive, as non-athletes are also aware of the widely accepted fact that one of the effects of sport on mental health is stress relief.

    The development of adolescents living in the child protection system is often shaped by early traumatic experiences, losses, and unstable attachment patterns, which may result in heightened emotional stress and impaired self-regulation. The aim of the present study is to present a group-based intervention focusing on stress management and the development of self-awareness among adolescents aged 14–18. The group work was designed to reduce tension, increase awareness of personal resources, and enhance coping skills. The theoretical framework of the program was grounded in the self-regulatory model of personality, the psychodynamic approach to group development, and the group development model proposed by Amundson et al. (2013). International research findings—particularly meta-analyses on the group-based application of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)—support the effectiveness of group interventions. Our experiences indicate that a structured group setting facilitated emotional expression, self-reflection, and the experience of social support, thereby contributing to the adolescents’ personality development and psychological well-being.

  • THE APPEARANCE OF MASSAGE AS A SERVICE CATEGORY IN THE OFFER OF HOTELS IN THE NORTHERN GREAT PLAIN

    Background: Massage is one of the main categories of wellness tourism and is one of the most popular, so it is no accident that it is included in the hotel offerings. Research proves the effectiveness of massage and its benefits in the treatment of various injuries, diseases, reduction of pain, muscle tension, and anxiety. Not only does it have a positive effect on health, but it plays an important role in relaxation, so it is no coincidence that it is one of the most popular wellness services. Hotel guests include massage as an important factor in choosing a destination. Aims: Because of the importance of tourism in the Northern Great Plain, our research looked at the role that massage services play in the supply of elements in the region's 3-5 star hotels. We surveyed 50 hotels (18 three-star, 31 four-star, 1 five-star) through a questionnaire and website analysis for their services and offerings. Results: Our results showed that the majority of the examined hotels have massage services, although to varying degrees. The most common types of massage are refreshing, vitalizing massage, foot massage, Swedish massage, aromatherapy massage, and relaxing, stress-relieving massage, but there are also many special types of massage. Conclusion: The conclusion of our research is that experience, pampering, and health consciousness appears not only in the factors influencing people's choice of the resort but also in the offerings of hotels.

    It is worth taking various preventive measures against the sedentary lifestyle, inadequate nutrition, and the harmful effects of stress on health. Swimming can be an excellent tool for this, which people consider to be one of the healthiest sports. How do people feel about this form of movement? Are you aware of the areas in which it is having a multifaceted positive impact? We sought answers to these and similar questions in our research. The study involved 126 people, all over the age of 40. Our method was an online questionnaire. Our results show that the multifaceted, positive effects of swimming are largely known to people, but there are still problem areas that are worth further investigation.

  • The Challenges of School Meals in Autism Spectrum Disorders

    Children with autism experience significantly more feeding difficulties compared to their neurotypical peers, which may lead to long-term health risks. School meals for children with autism remain an under-researched area, despite their crucial role not only in nutritional intake but also in the development of social skills, especially for students who require sensory-sensitive and structured environments. These challenges place an increasing burden on families, healthcare systems, and educational institutions. This study aims to propose inclusive and supported school-based practices that promote healthy eating habits and social integration, based on existing literature and empirical experiences, while considering individual needs. A literature review was conducted to identify studies published between 2018 and 2025 that focused primarily on the school eating habits of autistic children and, secondarily, of children with other neurodevelopmental disorders. Using predefined keywords, six relevant studies were selected, which examined eating behaviors, dietary diversity, and influencing factors. Several studies confirm that the eating habits of autistic children can be improved through various interventions, which support the acceptance of new foods, reduce challenging behaviors, and facilitate better adaptation to the school environment. School meals for children with autism present a complex challenge that goes beyond dietary needs, encompassing sensory sensitivities, social interactions, and environmental conditions. A well-structured and supportive school meal program can reduce stress, promote the acceptance of new foods, and enhance students' integration into mealtime settings.

  • Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Communication and Productivity in Academic Relations – Emphasis on the Professor-Student Relationship

    This study highlights challenges in communication between students and academic teachers. In addition, it describes how the university working environment, with its positives and negatives, influences professors' working productivity. As part of a research project, interviews were conducted with lecturers from higher education institutions in Hungary and Montenegro. The respondents were asked about their teaching methods, experiences in common communication, and collegial, and administrative problems that cause stress. Through the interview method, this article provides a view from the inside of the academic individual personalities representing sometimes hidden perspectives of the collective. The study shows the importance of a proper professor’s approach to students and a healthy educator-student relationship. This research contributes to illuminating the multifaceted dimensions of communication in modern educational environments, as it provides a better view of the academic environment and helps in determining better ways of obtaining professor-student productivity.
