Equestrian services appear in recreation, sports and tourism as well. The favorable natural and cultural values of Hungary and the image of the equestrian nation based on the traditions of the horse provide a favorable background for the development of supply elements. The lowland character and horse culture of the Northern Great Plain region, and the continuous development of horseback riding services here, reinforces the equestrian supply element in the field of sport and leisure. Our in - depth interviews were conducted among service providers with a “horseshoe rating” (N = 11) operating in the Northern Great Plain Region. The results show that all service providers consider and plan the development of equine, infrastructure and human resources, although the source of its financing is different (from state, other successful businesses, realized business results of equestrian enterprises). Equestrian service providers with no horseshoe rating have identified the improvement of quality, the 3, 4, and 5 horseshoe qualified service providers for the expansion of the complex program offering and product diversification.

A project based on geothermal energy use in Nagyszénás, Békés County, Hungary, was finished on December 20, 2015. The construction investments were realized with the support of the European Union from tender funds won in the financial cycle of 2007-2013 in the total value of HUF 1.578 billion. The thermal water utilization investment was realized with unique technical solutions in the country, and as a result, a modern, economical heating system using green energy source was built, and now provides energy for the public institutions of the settlement and for the newly established bath complex. During construction and operation, several unforeseen technical problems arose, which could only be solved by using new technical elements. The high salinity and high temperature of the extracted thermal water required special engineering solutions. During operation, modifications and changes in technological elements were required at several points for the safe operation. The purpose of this article is to present these technical interventions, which made the reliable operation possible, thus the system provides a suitable alternative to natural gas-based heating.

In industry, service and public sector lean approach is gaining ground. However, there is a significant difference between the organizations applying lean concept in case of their lean transformation maturity level as well as their lessons learned. There is a huge variety of methods and techniques which can be used but there are two conditions in case of every organization regardless their sector or their lean maturity level which determine the success of their lean development: lean approach leader and learning organization. Lean leadership is not based on a particular sector or method and a ready-made lean organization is not needed either. The concept of the top management has a huge effect on the characteristics of theorganization but whether the will of the management is enough for the complete transformation or not is the question. Is the target the lean organization itself or how a unit of an organization or the whole organization can react to the change of the environment? The attitudes and behaviors of lean approach leadership can be applied every day, everywhere and support the aim of creating a real lean organization.

  • Dimensions of Ethnocentric Emotions in Hungary

The concept ot ethnocentrism appeared first in the literature in the early 1900s. Since then, several international and national studies have focused on defining this concept and have aimed at the investigation of its role in terms of national and international product opinion. The consumer’s decision is influenced not only by the different marketing effects (product, price, place, promotion), but also by the cultural, social, personal and psychological characteristics of the costumers. The examination of ethnocentrism – as a socio-psychological concept – is increasingly important in marketing research. This paper focuses on exploring the dimensions of ethnocentric emotions. My aim is to support the assumption that these dimensions have a significant influence on the thinking of the consumer society. As a result of my primary research, I introduce these dimensions and terminate consumer segments. Based on my research it can be stated that the ethnocentric emotions (such as patriotism, national superiority, national consciousness, national discrimination) are determinants of consumer thinking and demonstrate the fact that awareness of ethnocentric emotions can be the basis for marketing strategies to protect national products.

Nowadays, the operations of companies are influenced by increasingly complex internal and external factors, the systematic examination of which is essential for conscious strategy-making. The relevance of this study lies in the context of global economic instability, rapid technological advancement, and intensifying market competition, all of which present new challenges for organizations. The aim of the research is to demonstrate how the analysis of environmental factors can support strategic decision-making, with particular emphasis on a specific company case. The analysis was based on three established methods—PESTEL analysis, Porter’s Five Forces model, and the SWOT framework—which together enabled an integrated examination of macro- and micro-environmental factors as well as internal resources. The results highlighted several key strengths of the company, such as professional expertise, international presence, and the quality of customer relationships, while also identifying several areas in need of improvement, particularly in terms of pricing strategy, digital information accessibility, and internal communication. The novelty of the study lies in the combined application of the three analytical tools, which revealed interrelated insights and served as the basis for well-founded recommendations aimed at enhancing strategic flexibility and strengthening competitiveness.

Danube is the main river of Hungary. Danube and its floodplains and oxbow lakes are operating as ecological corridors, although their industrial, logistic and touristic role is not negligible. It is well known, that from the source to the estuary of the river Danube there are many industrial facilities. This heavy industrial pollution had effected on the water quality. The most dangerous components of the sewage water of these facilities are heavy metals, which can be found in the water as well as in the sediment. These toxic elements can cause significant health risks, because they can accumulate in the food-chain. The main aim of our research is to investigate the accumulation rate of the heavy metal content of the river sediment in the different parts of the test plants. The main sampling place of our research was a sediment dump was created by excavation from the Open Beach of Dunaújváros in 2009. During our measurements we analysed the cadmium, nickel, lead, chromium, copper and zinc concentration of the sediment and the plants. The test plants, which are growing on this sampling place, were parella (Rumex patientia), perennial rye-grass (Lolium perenne), sedge (Carex riparia), bistort (Persicaria maculosa). The extraction of the heavy metal content of the samples was made according to the MSZ Hungarian standard. The concentration of heavy metals were analysed with AAS (atom absorption spectrometer). According to our results we determined that parella could accumulate cadmium, nickel, chromium and zinc in its upper stem, on the other hand bistort could accumulate these elements mainly in its leaves. These information will be important in the case of the in-situ remediation of a polluted area in the future.

In order that they will be able to cooperate with them and be able to join and integrate into the value chain they supply they must meet the high quality of standards. Obtaining then preserving quality certificates is essential for this. It can be fulfilled exclusively with thorough screening and problem identification.

This situation is exacerbated continuously by globalization in which each sector is involved. It means that they must remain competitive globally. Although in our country most of the small and medium sized enterprises bears the specific characteristics of family businesses innovation may not be avoided if they intend to stay competitive. A residual dross of high quantity and high salt content arises from the hot (thermo-mechanical) treatment of the primary dross generated by the production of aluminium alloys from scrap. It contains a relatively low concentration of metal (5 – 10 %) but a high amount (30 - %) of chloride salts and some other components beside the oxide matrix. Due to the components dissolved in or reacted with water, this industrial residue - arising in thousands of tons also in Hungary – qualifies as hazardous and causes a real burden to the environment. According to the laboratory experiments aimed at an economical technology, the chlorides are dissolved within a few minutes when a liquid/solid ratio of 1:1 cm3/g (water volume:sample mass) is assured with an intensity of the horizontal shaking to prevent sedimentation. However, the filling ratio of the vessel also appears to have an effect. An implementation of relatively low cost would allow the recycling of the salt and the application of the final residue for alternative purposes.

E-sports are competitive video games coordinated by different leagues and organisations. E-sports players belong to teams or different managements, which are sponsored by various economic companies and establishment. In the beginning, only offline and then online competitions were organised, and nowadays an offline final takes place in sports halls at the end of an online qualification round. The primary objective of the present research is to study the e-athletes participating in the University Electronic Games (UEG) e-sports competition.  In addition to the e-sports players, I consider it important to examine the tournament itself, how the players interviewed rate it and what motivated them to participate again. I conducted an online questionnaire survey among the participants of the three seasons of the UEG online tournament organised by the University of Debrecen. UEG is the largest university e-sport tournament in Hungary in terms of its number of participants, which is why it was selected for the study. The participants in the study are motivated to compete in order to achieve success and enjoy competing to win, for them e-sports is a self-fulfilment. They keep up to date with national e-sports news and competitions through social media and the university mailing system. In general, the participants rate the UEG e-sports championship highly. The organisers need to improve the organisation of the tournament and their preparedness to run a tournament of this size. Their strengths are their helpfulness and their accurate and precise information about the tournament.

  • Use of the Renewable Energy in the Hungarian Residential Heating

The purpose of my research is to compare the main energy sources in Hungary. These are the firewood and its compacts such as briquette, the natural gas and the electricity. I was wondered which energy became the most economical for an average Hungarian consumer with the recent changings of the market, only considering the proportion of the price and the heating value. The natural gas can be more competitive again thanks to this rapid market changes. The consumer price of the electricity and the natural gas decreased because of some governmental decisions, but this can’t be said to the firewood, which prices are in constant increasing, however, in some parts of the country this is the only available resource for heating. In these places, people will burn some other stuff to complement the lack of the main resources, and this will worsen the quality of the rural air. I represent the changes of the recent years with some ratios, then make a hierarchy about the mentioned resources in 2017 and five years earlier only from heating value.

Today's people are extremely busy with a lot of things, such as work, family, learning, so they try to spend their free time with activities that promote them in relaxation, reassurance, recreation. It can be said that the people of today's world are burdened, more stressed and nervous, trying to do the best they can to live properly. A lot of people have a hard time communicating, community life. There are a lot of people who are forced to work from home, as projects and weeks' deadlines don't wait. Besides, there are many things to be done, children need to be dealt with, you have to have fun, you have to pay attention to health, you have to run a household, etc., so there is little time for people to do what they really love. In my research, I assessed the leisure habits of the inhabitants of Romania and Hungary, but their attitude to active reclamation activities (N=273) was their activity in sport. The results show that passive leisure activities (watching TV, reading, listening to music, internet) are still the most popular among people, although most of us do sedentary work. People who play sports in their spare time felt more refreshed, and they had a better mood, more positive. The sports that people can play outdoors and in parks come to the fore.

In Hungary, handball enjoys special attention and support, this is true not only for our country, but also for Europe, and the sport is gaining more and more space worldwide. One of the biggest innovations of the last two decades is certainly social media, which has reformed the basic strategies related to information transfer and traditional marketing activities. The processes of content production on these platforms have radically changed, which every sports club should pay attention to, as they can gain significant advantages in terms of economics, marketing and community building if they are able to communicate well. Three sports clubs competing at different levels were compared during a qualitative study in terms of their social media marketing strategy activities, namely PICK Szeged, Balatonfüredi KSE – BFKA Balatonfüred and DEAC handball team. The basic concept of this research model was built on how the online marketing communication activities of club teams fighting for different professional goals at different levels differ from each other, as well as what are the development opportunities and aspects that can be used as effectively as possible on social media platforms. The handball club teams agreed on several research questions, but a significant difference could also be discovered in one area, in which the professionals responsible for social media disagreed or represented a different point of view. Looking at my results, it can be concluded that behind a successful online marketing strategy there is always serious preparation and planning work, as well as the diversification of content production on different platforms, because the consumer communities of the platforms are also different from each other.

  • Can the local government in Hungary be the appropriate local level framework for environmental sustainability?
    32-45
    Views:
    251

During the search for the framework for environmental (respectively social and economic) sustainability, the importance of local action / decision-making has been formulated several times. At the same time, the capability of local government structures is questioned from several aspects. Local governments today are not necessarily a proper legal-administrative framework for sustainable development, for example because the population of a sustainable local community (conceptually) and of a larger settlement (by size) does not coincide. However, the (partly networked) environmental policy system of the municipalities transcends the administrative area of the settlement, where appropriate, a larger area (agglomeration, city areas, etc.), connecting several actors and activities. The paper seeks to clarify this issue in two rather different but interrelating ways. The first approach is geographically rooted and examines the local government system and the spatial structure of the Hungarian state through environmental economics and environmental policy. The second question is about structural links, namely the problems of local governments potential for infrastructure development and the structure of the local economy. The paper concludes that municipal functions - administration, ownership, public service organization - are all concerned with environmental protection. Considering that many of the processes that are relevant to sustainability are taking place in settlements, so serious changes are needed at this level as well. In this context, cooperation between local and central government levels and the active involvement of (local) society can not be dispensed with, but the current mechanisms are hindering progress.

Performance of the domestic online commerce showed a dynamic increase in recent years and, based on the expected forecasts, this trend will be realized in the future as well. In Hungary, the number of electronic commerce undertakings is estimated to be within a range of between 5 000 and 6 000 pieces and this number is steadily increasing. Today, the opportunities offered by the internet play an increasingly significant role in every segment of the economy. In the increasing market competition, it is no longer sufficient to serve the local population. Driver of the internet commerce is a marketing activity therefore the performance measurement is a priority. The excellent result and success essentially and principally depend on the performance, in addition to luck. Performance is understood as the measurable results or, in the broad sense, the successful efforts which are made to achieve the organizational objectives. The performance measurement is a measurement process of the efficiency and economy of an activity. Its aim is to support the decisions and actions related to the operation of the undertaking. The performance measurement is not only a decision support tool but also an element influencing every level of the decision-making system; it has an effect on the actions of stakeholders. Its danger and importance are simultaneously the fact that its improper operation (application of incorrect yardstick) can result in a functioning contrary to the corporate objectives. My aim is to survey the corporate performance measurement practice, to assess the connection between the financial and operational performance as well as to analyse the connection between the performance measurement practice and the performance achieved.

It was established that beside the chemical activation, the mechanical activation of solids is an effective tool for improving the product characteristics. However, this modifies the physical as well as structural, mineralogical properties of the raw materials, therefore its determination is of great importance.

Based on the financial ratios of analyzed companies we were performed a risk analysis, highlighting the degree of operational and financial leverages and the degree of combined leverage combining preceding ratios. We introduced a new aspect of the risk concept which began to spread in recent times. In the interest of to be able to analyse together cross-sectional and time series data, panel regression model was used. The panel regression is an extension of the multivariate linear regression interpreted as a multi-level model. In our study, the panel regression was used for analysis of food retailer companies, in the Northern Great Plain region's counties, in the period 2009-2014.
