AXIOLOGICAL ISSUES COMMON TO SOCIAL PEDAGOGY AND SOCIAL WORK – HUNGARIAN TRANSLATION
103-109Views:215An attempt to find issues common to social pedagogy and social work should include the reference to the basic determinants of these forms of social activity. The fundamental assumptions of both pedagogy and social work are based on values. In the axiological dimension of accompanying a person in their development values related to human dignity, self-fulfillment and social functioning must be taken into account. It needs to be highlighted that some areas of modern pedagogy still lack the reference to the axiological assumptions. This may result in inappropriate educational attitudes as well as deficiencies in the social dimension of human life. There seems to be a serious lack of axiological references in the field of social work. It is particularly noticeable in the case of attempts to counteract domestic violence. Emphasis given to values that constitute social pedagogy and social work may help to strengthen the relationship between these scientific disciplines and forms of social activity. Defining basic values, presenting ways how to implement them, and overcome anticipated difficulties may result in attitudes based on the recognition of human dignity as well as on the multidimensional nature of life. Academic education which prepares students to professionally implement social support is a crucial element of the relationship between pedagogy and social work.

HR TOOLS SUPPORTING EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
7-17Views:211Hungarian statistical surveys, as well as previous research, point out the disadvantages experienced by persons with disability and a reduced work capacity on the labour market, due to which their employment falls behind the employment of the average population. In the background of these drawbacks, there are partially negative attitudes in the society and among employers which are based on prejudices. On the other hand, in the course of the integration and permanent employment of persons with disability and a reduced work capacity not only the accepting attitude of employers but also that of employees is essential. Employment policy instruments may facilitate the economic activity of the disadvantaged labour market groups but they may need their employers to help them further with employment, integration and work. The expected or received help of the open labour market or its degree do not always meet. No empirical research has been done into this topic yet. The aim of my research is to explore the attitude, approach, and knowledge of workers in social institutions in three districts of Hajdú-Bihar county and of the inhabitants in these districts regarding persons with disability and reduced work capacity. Questionnaire research was conducted, and altogether 747 persons (408 workers at social institutes and 339 citizens) were interviewed. The present study focuses on the exploratory-like results of the research which reveal the test groups’ familiarity with and knowledge of the application of those HR management tools that can further the employment of persons with reduced work capacity. The study assesses the results based on the following variables: sex, school qualification, position, previously gained knowledge about the reduced work capacity and work experience with persons with reduced work capacity. The results of the research suggest that for persons with a reduced work capacity the organisations mainly ensure the personalised field of work, preferential working hours, and accessible work environment, but it is not certain to be enough for the permanent employment of the target group as due to their mobility difficulties they would really need support to get to their work as well.

Experiences of School Social Work in the Light of Research
19-30Views:84In the last twenty years, school social work has received increasing attention both in Hungary and internationally, and there is a growing need for the presence of a social professional in educational institutions. Since the mandatory introduction of the service, several empirical and theoretical studies have been published on the subject, which report on the practical experience and the insights of the professionals. In our research question, we looked for the answer to the experiences of the operation of school social work, in studies that were born in the first three years of the mandatory introduction. The selected six studies were analyzed on the basis of three aspects which is the integration of the social worker in the institution, the number of hours spent by the social worker at the school and the characteristics of the development of professional collaborations. The document analysis reveals that the social worker's personality, clear competence boundaries, the number of hours spent in the institution and the level of interprofessional cooperation have great importance for the integration of professionals into educational institutions. The present study aims to contribute to the theoretical foundations of a comprehensive empirical study of the current functioning of Hungarian school social work.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK IN HUNGARY AND IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

The aim of the research is to get to know the activities in the two countries in more detail, pointing out the similarities and differences in practice. The research questions shed light on the conditions of the operation of social work in Hungarian and British schools, the cooperation of the social worker with the educational institution, and the activities carried out there. We conducted semi-structured interviews as a method of research with 14 social workers in close contact with schools and specifically school social workers. The operation of mental health teams organized in educational institutions not only serves to protect children but the establishment and coordination of such a professional team can also increase the acceptance and influence of the school social worker in the institution.

SETTLEMENTS AND PEOPLE MID-TERM INVESTIGATION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A DESEGREGATION PROGRAM
57-76Views:253Programs aimed to eliminate segregated life conditions have appeared again in domestic integration practice in the last two decades. The goal of “Roma settlement programs” is the implementation of complex interventions improving social integration and housing conditions in communities, and social work has an important role in this process. We will examine in our study the relevance of social work in an ongoing integration program in the framework of a survey that questioned social workers and residents of the segregates. The research focuses on two aspects of the programs. First, the social workers’ experiences will be examined about their work and processes that complicate it, and secondly, a survey conducted among the target group will investigate the utilization of the elements in the program and the characteristics of the relations between the target groups. Finally, the policy background of the programs, changes in the regulations of social work, and opinions of the professionals and target groups will be introduced compared similar programs in nearly a hundred settlements in the country.

EFFECTS OF LABOR MARKET INTEGRATION, IN PARTICULAR CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR AND QUALITY OF LIFE
33-49Views:124The program you want to show is novel because it provides assistance to job seekers who face mental, social, or health problems, it also provides a complex service package that includes labor market, social and health services. The program can respond individually to the existing difficulties, thus improving the quality of life of the participants. The aim of the study is to examine the factors that determine the behavioral changes and the quality of life quality among the job seekers who can't be included in employment for mental, social, or health reasons. Methods: In our study, we monitored changes in general well-being, livelihoods, financial backgrounds, family backgrounds, health problems, work-related problems, social services, and healthcare services during the five months of the program, and analyzed the results obtained by quantitative and qualitative methods. Conclusion: Well-being has a positive effect on both the subjective emotional experiences of employees, their work performance, and their workplace behavior. We think that society should pay attention to sensitizing employers, develop insurance programs for complex packages of support, to ensure workplace factors influencing the improvement of the quality of life for workers' attention. The quality of life of our study confirmed that adequate support (mentoring, counseling, through programs supporting), to increase job satisfaction, workplace, which has many advantages in terms of not only the individual, but employers and society: improving the quality of work, the Workplace behavior and morale, less absenteeism, lower sickness, and fluctuation rates, and employment rate increases.

SURVEY OF THE SOCIAL COMPETENCES ABOUT THE DISADVANTAGED PRESCHOOL CHILDREN IN THE COUNTIES BORSOD-ABAÚJ-ZEMPLÉN, HAJDÚ-BIHAR AND SZABOLCS-SZATMÁR-BEREG
51-63Views:125Between 2017 and 2020, we participated in a national project led by the Education Office, called „Support for social inclusion and integration measures in public education” (EFOP-3.1.3-16-2016-00001), which we simply called "Kindergarten for Opportunities". The aim of the project was mainly to help kindergartens educate and develop disadvantaged and multiply disadvantaged Roma and Gypsy children. An important phase of the work was the survey, in which a specific assessment of skills was carried out with the active participation of the institutions, adapted to life in the kindergarten and based on the observations of the kindergarten teachers. In the present study, we focus on an important aspect of the survey, the study of social competencies. Results were obtained in three categories (self-images, social relations, and emotional-willing qualities), in five dimensions per category, from the kindergartens participating in the project in the three selected counties. In the total survey, the kindergartens provided information on a total of 1112 children, of which the number of responses received in the three counties analyzed by us was as follows: 259 in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, 178 in Hajdú-Bihar county and 271 in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. So kindergarten teachers' statements regarding n=708 children were analyzed in this study. No significant difference can be observed in the results: only in a few cases did we experience a negative deviation in social competences in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county.

SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS IN THE CHOICE OF THE RIGHT EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
35-47Views:125More than 1000 public educational institutions maintained by the church work in Hungary currently, therefore recently the denominational public education has turned into a current question again. The expansion can be originated for several reasons, to which as a starting point the law of 1990 may be considered which takes action on the freedom of conscience and religion. As a result of this since the change of the regime, the church has become a school maintainer, too, which means new challenges and continuously sets new expectations for it. Denominational schools as publicly financed institutions have to meet their educational mission with the states and the school selectors’expectations. Several researchers have examined the determinants of school selection on both international and national levels (Bell 2009, Denig et al. 2009, Dronkers 1995, Ferenc-Séra 2001, Kertesi 2014, Korzenszky 1997). We may presuppose that the school - as the device of social mobility - shows the opportunity for the child's prosperity in the parents' eye. The determinants of selecting a school may be changing in each country and age, yet there are factors that can be considered relatively constant like the residential area, the parents’ social status and educational level, their piety and cultural capital, their faith in the school as the device of social mobility, their image of the future and their knowledge on the opportunities of selecting a school. Furthermore, the content and coherence of the family may also be determined. We may assume that the motivation of the school users selecting either a denominational or a state or a foundation school can be different. Also, it can be probable that the school level –primary or secondary– influences the attitudes of school selectors. The aim of the present study is both to show the results of a questionnaire empirical research conducted among students choosing schools maintained by the church, and by putting the results in an extended conceptional framework to find such social correlations that may help to recognise the expectations and scruples drawn to the churches as school maintainers.

SPECIAL TREATMENT OF THE CSR
27-41Views:131According to a broader definition offered by Kotler and Lee (2007, 10 p), the focus of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is on „selecting an initiative that will do the most good for the social issue as well as the corporation”. Following this line of reasoning, the purpose of this study is to examine through the use of practical examples those activities of CSR that can be in connection with the category of special treatment. To be more specific, these are CSR activities are related to the treatment of persons with a physical or mental disability and the treatment of people with reduced capacity to work. When it came to reviewing the activities of the selected companies, the CSR activity of Hungarian Affiliate of a global pharmaceutical company (company1) was considered as base. The CSR activities of the four other companies and company1 were evaluated by performing a content analysis of their websites. Due to the diverse sources of information, the news of 2015 and the press releases available on their websites were analyzed separately. The content analysis of the Sustainability reports and websites of the selected companies, supplemented with the latest company news, has opened the door to the preparation of a wide-spectrum activity inventory on the CSR areas related to the treatment of persons with a physical or mental disability and the treatment of people with reduced capacity to work.

THE "INSTITUTIONALIZATION" OF THE LOVARI LANGUAGE FROM THE ASPECT OF SOCIAL INNOVATION
85-93Views:118In this current paper we intend to reflect upon the historicity and social impact of Lovari language education from the perspective of social innovation. Our starting point is that the process of the acceptance of the Lovari language and its recognition in the educational palette of foreign languages is a „bottom-up” initiative that developed mainly from the work of Romani intellectuals. The focus of our interest is, among others, the following questions: Who invented it? Who supported it? Who prevented it? What language learning methods are used by people teaching Lovari language who are originally not language teachers? The „institutionalization” of language education in Lovari and the state-recognized language exam certificate that can be obtained in this language have a serious social impact, for example, it helped disadvantaged and/or Roma students to obtain a university degree. From this point of view, we also consider this phenomenon as an innovation. Besides the secondary sources, we tend to map the topic with the help of primary, qualitative data. In addition to interviews with Lovari language teachers (N=3) who have been teaching for several decades, we would like to put our own perceptions in a narrative.

THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY IN EMPLOYMENT AMONG UNDERGRADUATES
7-19Views:384The role of the family as the arena for primary socialization is significant throughout our lives. The cultural capital, parental role models, and relationship with siblings all have a tremendous impact on academic and non-academic achievement, social networking, intra- and intergenerational embeddedness, and employment during studies. However, a change in family structure can negatively affect a child’s development, decrease his or her academic and non-academic achievement (Engler, 2016), and also causes a higher prevalence of health risk behaviours (Kovács and Nagy, 2017). In addition, due to the lower level of financial capital provided by the family, young people who have grown up in a non-intact family structure are often forced to work during their university or even high school studies to ensure their self-preservation. In our research, we examined the attitudes of the students studying at the University of Debrecen towards family and work in the light of the family structure, covering childhood storytelling experiences (BEST 2020). In addition to demographic issues, changes in family structure, childhood storytelling habits, and work-related attitudes were examined (N=159). 25.6% of the students’ parents are divorced, 24.3% grew up with their mother. 86.5% of the parents read tales in childhood, mostly (75%) every day, typically mothers. No significant difference could have been detected in childhood storytelling experiences based on family structure (p=0.322). Although the ratio of employment is higher among children of divorced parents, a significant difference is found at the beginning of employment. Based on the results, parents try to support university studies at least partly, but they are unlikely able to provide other resources that could force students to work. Based on our results, it can be stated that the role of the family in the early employment of young people is also significant, and the change in the family structure increases the proportion of employment besides university studies, which is mainly due to the family's financial situation.

FIRST-GENERATION YOUNG PEOPLE'S CHANCES OF OBTAINING A DEGREE BASED ON A LARGE SAMPLE ANALYSIS
17-30Views:116Thy system of higher education can be analysed from the aspects of inequalities. The chance of attendance, the achievement, the phenomenon of drop-out, and types of training programs are approached from the students’ social background. Our analysis focuses on the chance of graduation of first-in-family people. The relatively rigid feature of Hungarian society and the lower mobility rate create a specific background for our research. Hungarian Youth Survey 2016 and 2020 databases were used during this analysis and we separated the subsample of young people between 25 and 29 (N2016= 2906, N2020=2874). We try to discover the patterns of parents’ educational reproduction, describe the features of first-in-family people, and identify those factors which can form the chance of graduation. A binary regression model was run by us in which the dependent variable was the obtaining of a degree and the list of independent variables contained socio-demographic variables (sex, type of settlement, the economic situation of the region, economic situation, parental educational level, the type of parental profession), different life events (crises, the number of children, etc.) and the identification with the parental lifestyle. With these results, we can identify such an intersectional life situation (being a woman, habitation in cities, more favourable economic situation, mother’s white collar work, medium parental educational level, without children) in which the chance of graduation is higher.

At the end of the 19th century, Náray-Szabó (1861-1914) recognized social opportunities, and he worked in order to reform schools and the teacher training of disabled people. He was one of the founders of the modern Hungarian education system for those with special educational needs.

RESEARCH OF YOUTH RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
105-110Views:786In the publication, we examined recreational activities, highlighting the role of physical recreational activities. For our study, we constructed an online questionnaire, which was completed using social media (N = 158). Our results confirmed that people consider regular exercise important to maintain health (94.30%), however, in their free time, in addition to physical recreational activities, there are also activities that strengthen a sedentary, sedentary lifestyle. Our respondents meet their friends the most in their free time (69.62%), but many also play sports at this time (64.56%). Popular leisure habits are also the internet, playing online games (55.06%), and reading and learning (46.83%). The most popular physical activity among our respondents is cycling (66.46%), walking, Nordic walking (64.55%), and running (60.13%), and the most popular locations are parks and sports fields (55.69%), however, many perform these activities on their way to work and school (42.41%).

EDUCATION FOR MULTIPLE DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS IN ISRAEL

The religious, political, cultural, and economic diversity of society has left a strong impression on education, including the educational provision of minority students. The topic of the writing is the education in Israel, including the most disadvantaged group, the past of the Bedouin pupils and their current situation. Nowadays, Bedouins make up one-third of the Negev population (210,000 people) who have been constantly turning from semi-nomadic lifestyles into living in the past decades. About 90,000 people live in unknown villages and camps, which in itself poses serious difficulties for Israeli education policy. The article gives an overview of the changes in Bedouin's social situation in the past 60-70 years, the circumstances of the first school, the effectiveness of the Bedouin pupils, their opportunities for further education, and its characteristics. In order to understand the functioning of the education system, it is essential to know about teacher training and the characteristics of the teachers who work in Bedouin schools.

FACTORS SUPPORTING HIGHER EDUCATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN THE LIGHT OF A RESEARCH
85-99Views:258Compared to other social groups, persons with disabilities are at higher risk of poverty. One of the reasons for this can be explained by the labour market situation of people with disabilities, as their employment is extremely low, their livelihood is primarily ensured by social benefits. One of the main guarantees of achieving an adequate standard of living is income from work. The higher qualifications the employee has, the higher the chance is to have a job that suits his/her interests and abilities. However, persons with disabilities tend to have lower educational qualifications than members of the majority of society, and their higher education is particularly low. In order to achieve equal opportunities, persons with disabilities may take advantage of allowances and subsidies in the course of their higher education as well as their studies. Using qualitative, semi-structured interviews, the research explores how services promoting equal opportunities at universities facilitate the higher education of students with disabilities, support their job search and their integration into the labour market. The research also comprised the examination of how the family background or previous (primary and secondary school) studies influenced the higher education of the interviewees. Based on the research results, it can be stated that promoting equal opportunities at universities contributes to the successful completion of studies as well as participation in the labour market eventually. The family, the parents, studying in an integrated framework play a crucial role in the decision of a student with disabilities to continue his/her studies at university.

THE ASCEND PROJECT: THE HUNGARIAN RESARCH REPORT OF AN INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATION
43-52Views:123Our experience was that the social participation and active citizenship of young people with disabilities were low in Hungary. It was difficult to involve young people with disabilities in advocacy work at the national or EU level, because they did not recognize discrimination. The other problem was that they were not aware enough of the anti-discrimination systems that protect them. In many cases, they were skeptical about the effectiveness of anti-discrimination systems. We wished to explore and expand their knowledge of the democratic and anti-discrimination systems operating in their country (Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Slovakia) Central and Eastern Europe. We also wanted to increase their trust in these systems. This was one of the main pillars of the one-year Ascend program locally lead by The National Federation of Organisations of People with a Physical Disability (in short: MEOSZ) In Hungary, the main goal of the study was to examine the phenomenon of discrimination and anti-discrimination in education. In the Hungarian part of the research, we used qualitative methods (focus group interviews, mind maps) for examination.

99-111Views:151The paper explores a topic that affects everyday life: the encounter between doctors and patients with disabilities. The aim of the research was to find out how doctors and medical students think about disability, people with disabilities, and their encounters with them, in the course of their work. Despite the fact that age, the number of years spent in practice, and the areas of specialisation of the 10 interviewees present varied pictures they express many similar opinions in their responses. The responses point out that during their university years, they had heard little about the different aspects of disabilities in theoretical classes and during their practice so they really only had everyday knowledge and stereotypes about their disabled patients. The question arises: can doctors with a high social prestige set a positive example to the rest of society when it comes to the treatment of people with disabilities? The question then goes on to raise the need for a wider study, which should include other health professionals.

FIRST STEPS OF EDUCATION IN THE FAMILY – THE POSSIBILITIES OF EARLY CHILDHOOD PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DEBRECEN
109-116Views:270In Hungary, preterm birth is a common issue; approximately 8.000 infants are born preterm each year. At the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Debrecen, our Pediatric Psychology and Psychosomatic Unit work to minimize the risk of neurodevelopmental delay in children born prematurely or in other risk groups. In favour of it, we help families at both the prevention and the intervention levels. Parent education, organization of parent groups, and counselling provide us an opportunity to acquaint parents with the possibilities of using help. The chapter briefly describes the possibilities of prevention (screening tests, diagnostics) and intervention (parent group, music therapy, animal-assisted therapy, sensory integration therapy), the family implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Bayley-III diagnostic and screening test, which is one of the most advanced developmental tools for early prevention. Our approach is that, in favour of healthy and balanced development, the whole family needs to get the appropriate support and care. Supporting and strengthening parental efficiency is an important step by which the parent is able to implement a method of education that takes into account the individual characteristics of the child, by which the child's adaptability, carrying capacity, and social skills develop and strengthen.

ANALYZING THE FACTORS INFLUENCING HEALTH BEHAVIOR IN CHILDHOOD – THE IMPACT OF MEDIA- AND COMPUTER USAGE ON HEALTH BEHAVIOR

These factors start to form in childhood and those who work with people have a great responsibility to help to deploy them. The media and the internet have the main role in influencing these 4 dimensions. In our article, we attempt to reveal the effects of this psychologically relevant question on health behavior. Several risk behaviors can be mentioned which are caused by uncontrolled media and internet usage. Bullying through electronic devices („cyberbullying”) occurs more and more frequently which has multiple reasons. Nevertheless, in connection with the social dimension of well-being, an important cause of internet usage appears the sense of belonging. The formation of health psychology was legitimate as the biomedical model failed and the expenses of health care and the interest towards the quality of life increased, also alternative solutions became more in demand.

FACTORS OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN RELATION TO CHILDREN’S BEHAVIORAL SYMPTOMS
7-25Views:154In our study, the features of contact between parents and teachers and the particular patterns they take were examined in connection with children’s behavioral symptoms. With cluster analysis, seven clearly analyzable patterns of contact were identified, the two most frequent of which (unifacial and formal) do not favor problem solving, nor provide parental satisfaction.
Two patterns (flexible and adaptive) proved to be the most satisfying and the most effective. Children’s symptoms (social problems, anxiety, somatization, attention deficit, deviant behavior, aggressivity) are significantly related to the quality of parent-teacher contact. In the case of the less favorable and less effective contact forms, parents report more behavioral symptoms, while in the case of the flexible, adaptive, emotionally satisfying, and effective problem-solving contact forms, there are fewer symptoms. These results draw attention to important tasks on many levels: to work out operable patterns of parent-teacher contact, to better understand the role and tasks of teacher training, and the need to involve experts to assist in developing parent-teacher contact, which is also indispensable in terms of helping and developing children and their mental health.

THE EXAMINATION OF THE CONNECTION OF THE ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE SOCIAL GENDER ROLES AND THE CAREER ORIENTATION DECISIONS
25-37Views:236In this study, we examined the correlation between gender stereotypes and career orientation amongst students. In the study, we examined if there is a connection between gender roles (masculine, feminine, androgyny), stereotypical views, and decisions during career orientation. In the research, we used online and paper-based questionnaires amongst disabled, abled, and LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) students. The received data shows that there is a link between gender roles and stereotypical views.
