    Animal- assisted therapy (AAT), a type of therapy that involves animals as a means of treatment, has been discovered by the American psychologist Boris Levinson, 1960. The aim of this study was to determinate how animals can improve person’s emotional and physical well-being. The participants in this study were 111 people. Each participant was evaluated before and after the AAT intervention using objective psychological methods: Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS, Lovibond, 1995, set of three self- report scales designed to measure the emotional states of depression, anxiety and stress). In summary we can report the following result which could be valuable in the field of psychological science, that animals may be used in therapy dealing with depression, anxiety and stress.

    Non-adherence to medical therapy in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) is associated with increased cardiovascular and cerebrovascular morbidity and mortality, and thus increased healthcare costs. The prevalence of AH increases with increasing age. In view of this, monitoring adherence to medical therapy in older adults and its determinants is very important.

    The human is a complex being: a combination of biological, psychological and social factors.   Our lives are significantly influenced by worldwide social influences and communication networks. Animal husbandry is not only a way of life, but a daily social rite, with symbolic values and social interactions. Health requires harmony with nature, ourselves, our fellow human beings and the supernatural. The aim of my research is to examine the health status of elderly people and their interactions with animals.
