Welcome
Editorial Greeting
Dear Readers, Authors, and Partners,
A new chapter begins in the history of Magyar Gerontológia/Hungarian Gerontology. It is a profound honor and a significant responsibility for me to take over the role of Editor-in-Chief and continue the work my predecessors have done to advance the recognition of aging research in Hungary. Our journal’s first issue was published in January 2009, and over the past fifteen years, it has become a cornerstone of the professional community in our country. As a milestone in our development, we have been accessible in an online format since 2017, and the time has now come to further modernize our publication processes and appearance.
Our Professional Focus and Mission
In the spirit of renewal, we are committed to a holistic approach that interprets aging not merely as a biological process but as a complex fulfillment of the life course. We welcome manuscripts that explore the following areas:
- Biomedical and Clinical Geriatrics: Biological mechanisms of aging, therapy for typical age-related conditions, and preventive medicine, molecular geriatrics.
- Sports Sciences and Physical Activity: Physiological and mental effects of regular exercise, therapeutic activity, and senior sports.
- Psychological Sciences and the Arts: Alongside cognitive functions and mental health, we welcome studies on the impact of art therapy, creative expression, and cultural participation on aging.
- Social and Economic Sciences: In addition to demography, we provide space for economic analyses (silver economy), organizational science approaches (age management, labor market integration), and regional research (spatial aspects of aging).
- Educational Science and Gerontagogy: Issues concerning lifelong learning and intergenerational learning models.
- Engineering and Gerontechnology: Alongside innovations in nursing science, we emphasize the results of technical sciences: accessible architecture, smart home solutions, and developments supporting quality of life.
Our goal is to ensure that through our renewed and streamlined section structure – including the ’Studies and Research’, ’Professional Practice and Innovation’, and ’Reviews and Society’ sections – all our authors find the most appropriate format for their work.
Efficiency and Digital Innovation
In addition to our content updates, we have implemented significant technological and aesthetic advancements to make the journal more attractive to both authors and readers:
- Digital Editorial System: We are launching an online manuscript submission portal to simplify, accelerate, and ensure full transparency of the submission process.
- Faster Peer-Review: We have optimized our review workflows, allowing authors to receive feedback and publication decisions in a significantly shorter timeframe.
- Updated Visual Identity: The journal debuts a refreshed logo and a more modern, readable article layout, ensuring that our scientific content is presented in a professional and aesthetically fitting manner.
I invite you to enrich our journal with your research, so that together, through the power of science, we can make aging a more dignified experience for all of us.
Respectfully,
Prof. Edina Molnár habil. Ph.D. Editor-in-Chief
