CONFERENCE ABOUT THE LEARNING AND THE SOCIETY

In this conference, 161 presentations of 331 participants from 12 countries were published their presentations in 16 sections. This event was realized in the frame of Project MEC_SZ_141117 that project has been implemented with the support provided by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Hungary from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund, financed under the MEC_SZ_21 funding scheme. The present study is a short report about this conference.

THE ASCEND PROJECT: THE HUNGARIAN RESARCH REPORT OF AN INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATION
43-52Views:105Our experience was that the social participation and active citizenship of young people with disabilities were low in Hungary. It was difficult to involve young people with disabilities in advocacy work at the national or EU level, because they did not recognize discrimination. The other problem was that they were not aware enough of the anti-discrimination systems that protect them. In many cases, they were skeptical about the effectiveness of anti-discrimination systems. We wished to explore and expand their knowledge of the democratic and anti-discrimination systems operating in their country (Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Slovakia) Central and Eastern Europe. We also wanted to increase their trust in these systems. This was one of the main pillars of the one-year Ascend program locally lead by The National Federation of Organisations of People with a Physical Disability (in short: MEOSZ) In Hungary, the main goal of the study was to examine the phenomenon of discrimination and anti-discrimination in education. In the Hungarian part of the research, we used qualitative methods (focus group interviews, mind maps) for examination.

109-126Views:230We conducted research entitled “Learning and exchanging good practices strengthening the social role of the family” under project identification number EFOP-5.2.2.-17-2017-00048 “Research on good practices strengthening the social role of the family in the Carpathian Basin in the Hajdúsámson Reformed Parish and Family Pedagogy Association ”in connection with the project. With online questionnaires, we try to explore answers and solutions in research that can help professionals pass them on to families as good practice. The questions are about the family programs for different generations organized by the institution and municipality as well as the functioning of reverse socialization mechanisms in the intergenerational relationship. The aim of the paper is to show some examples of good practices in multigenerational programs, which were examined in the research.

SURVEY OF THE SOCIAL COMPETENCES ABOUT THE DISADVANTAGED PRESCHOOL CHILDREN IN THE COUNTIES BORSOD-ABAÚJ-ZEMPLÉN, HAJDÚ-BIHAR AND SZABOLCS-SZATMÁR-BEREG
51-63Views:82Between 2017 and 2020, we participated in a national project led by the Education Office, called „Support for social inclusion and integration measures in public education” (EFOP-3.1.3-16-2016-00001), which we simply called "Kindergarten for Opportunities". The aim of the project was mainly to help kindergartens educate and develop disadvantaged and multiply disadvantaged Roma and Gypsy children. An important phase of the work was the survey, in which a specific assessment of skills was carried out with the active participation of the institutions, adapted to life in the kindergarten and based on the observations of the kindergarten teachers. In the present study, we focus on an important aspect of the survey, the study of social competencies. Results were obtained in three categories (self-images, social relations, and emotional-willing qualities), in five dimensions per category, from the kindergartens participating in the project in the three selected counties. In the total survey, the kindergartens provided information on a total of 1112 children, of which the number of responses received in the three counties analyzed by us was as follows: 259 in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, 178 in Hajdú-Bihar county and 271 in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. So kindergarten teachers' statements regarding n=708 children were analyzed in this study. No significant difference can be observed in the results: only in a few cases did we experience a negative deviation in social competences in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county.

Note: this title has two meanings: "Woman is the chance" and "Chance is increasing". The goal of this project was to help the chance equalization of schoolgirls in the area of maths, informatics, and natural science.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOCIAL COMPETENCE OF CHILDREN FROM AN UNDERPRIVILEGED BACKGROUND
87-94Views:202In September 2010, by the introduction of the educational reform in Serbia, namely the introduction of inclusion, the number of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and multiple disadvantaged backgrounds has significantly increased. From September 2013, the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Education in Hungarian Language, Subotica and University of Szeged, Gyula Juhász Faculty of Education, Institute of Adult Education worked out a program, in which the students of these two Universities participated as mentors in the compensatory education of disadvantaged children. The purpose of the present study is to introduce the structure of the Student Mentoring Program that serves as an excellent example for other schools. According to in-service teachers, one of the long-term positive outcomes of the mentoring program is the development of the social competencies of disadvantaged children.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION THE CASE OF REGGIO EMILIA APPROACH IN DUBAI
71-80Views:130Although the term “culture” is a controversial term and there is no unified meaning that is accepted by all, societies deal with culture in every aspect of day-to-day life and interactions. The dilemma of how to introduce or accept a culture or cultural norm in a society, especially a society that is regarded as multicultural, is felt more intensely. Within international schools and specifically, in the multicultural society of countries such as the United Arab Emirates, this cultural diversity is clearly visible. On the other hand, the world-known and famous Reggio Emilia approach which has been successful in numerous Western countries has found its way to pre-primary education in the UAE. This paper will look into the implementation of the Reggio Emilia approach in the culturally diverse society of the UAE compared to Italy and other Western countries. The aim is to see if the important aspects of the Reggio Emilia approach such as teachers as researchers, children as citizens with rights, the role of the environment, curricula as long-term projects, and finally, parents as partners in education enterprise, are indeed implemented in the Reggio Emilia nurseries in the UAE. Or could it be the case that due to the cultural diversity of the UAE this implementation in its full and exact sense is not possible and nurseries in the UAE are only inspired by the approach?

THE OXIPO GAME COLLECTION FOR DEVELOPING COGNITIVE ABILITIES
63-73Views:1190This study is a presentation of the first phase of a complex research project which aims to present the theoretical background of a new game collection (based on OxIPO model). We have compiled a game collection to improve cognitive abilities in early childhood. Concerning cognitive abilities, Affolter's (1972), Sindelar's (1994) and others' earlier developmental approaches took into account visual, auditive or motoric (inter) modalities of perception, however, we believe we need a more complex model to cover the full capability. Within the framework of the OxIPO model (Mező, 2002, 2016), learning is interpreted as an information processing process. In the OxIPO model (Field, 2002, 2016), Learning = Organization x (Input + Process + Output) allows us to control and systemize not only the input modalities but also the output modalities and also to interpret some cognitive abilities in the process phase. We have created a game-collection based on six input (visual, auditive, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile) modalities and five cognitive abilities (perception, attention, memory, conceptual thinking, problem-solving thinking) and three output (visual, auditive, motoric) modalities. The outcome of the six input modalities and the five target abilities and the three output modalities there are 90 different games that can be described by the OxIPO model. In the future, we would like to prove with empirical studies that this game collection can be used for testing and developing 90 independent cognitive abilities. On the other hand, we need to prove that these cognitive abilities indeed influence the daily lives of children and their effectiveness.

GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE BASE ON SEMANTIC WEB BASICS
67-78Views:82The topic of this study is implementing a globally available, centralized knowledge base, which can be accessed and searched online via a brain interface for everyone. Our goal is to describe this plan, first analysis from the side of society. After this, we try to present how the actual form of this knowledge base was developed from the Time Begins to the present. At the end of the study, we describe two ways: the most pessimistic and the most optimistic ones, their odds, and the facts which increase the realization of odds. This study was carried out at the University of Debrecen, in the „Time capsule 2016+20” project as part of the Program for Talented Students (DETEP) program. The supervisor is Ferenc Mező Ph.D.
