POSSIBILITIES OF INTEGRATING CAREER ORIENTATION INTO TEACHER TRAINING

It is important to have an interdisciplinary approach and to have the appropriate social competencies! In this study, we strive to present the career orientation that promotes the development of appropriate competencies further teacher training, and career guidance opportunities in basic teacher training. To have an effective school career guidance procedure it's necessary to integrate this activity into the system of the “every day” pedagogical tasks. Therefore, it is important that teachers be aware of the training opportunities where career guidance is prioritized.

This topic seems to be especially relevant, as the process of transforming the vocational education system in Hungary (Vocational Education 4.0, 2020) makes it even clearer that the vocational school appears to be the most achievable secondary educational goal for certain groups of students with Special Educational Needs. Skill workers trained in vocational schools could appear in the labor market as potential employees, however, partly because obstacle-free and automatic employment do not always happen after leaving secondary school. The Methods of Mentoring with a Career Orientation Approach - The Experiences of the Teach Hungary Program in Gödöllő
137-150Views:62In our study, we undertake to present the methods of career guidance-focused mentoring activity applied at the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences in connection with the Teach for Hungary program and discuss its experiences. Mentor training, as well as support for children studying in schools in settlements cut off from information and activity opportunities, is also carried out in accordance with the traditions of the "Gödöllő School". In this regard, we should note that the counselling higher education training program in our country has the longest history at the MATE Szent István Campus (predecessors: GATE, SZIE). The intellectual capital, experience and all-encompassing ethos gathered in the consulting courses, which have been operating for more than 30 years and run under different names and at different levels, are already called the "Gödöllő School" in the literature (Borbély-Pecze, 2022). The development of methods used in career counselling in our country (Szilágyi, 1993) and their continuous development (Szilágyi, 2023) can be linked to this school. Some of these elements were also used among the high school students receiving mentoring within the framework of the TH program. In the following, we would like to present, together with their theoretical background, the methods that the students learned during the TM1 mentor training course and then used during the program.

THE EXAMINATION OF THE CONNECTION OF THE ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE SOCIAL GENDER ROLES AND THE CAREER ORIENTATION DECISIONS
25-37Views:236In this study, we examined the correlation between gender stereotypes and career orientation amongst students. In the study, we examined if there is a connection between gender roles (masculine, feminine, androgyny), stereotypical views, and decisions during career orientation. In the research, we used online and paper-based questionnaires amongst disabled, abled, and LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) students. The received data shows that there is a link between gender roles and stereotypical views. Also regardless of population and views two-thirds of the students categorize careers strictly feminine or masculine, which propounds the need for further pedagogical work in this area.

THE SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND SOCIAL MOBILITY: AN EXAMPLE FROM HODÁSZ
Views:124The paper examines the social mobility process of Romani youngsters in a settlement that is in one of the most disadvantaged regions of Hungary. Hodász became the centre of interest due to the relevant research concerning the mobility issue, because here, just contrary to the communities have similar sociocultural features, there are number of young Romani who could stand out by learning. The author interprets in wider aspects the determinative local norms, and the scale of values of local Vlach Romani community make possible for lots of local youngsters, that they can be graduated. In the second part of the paper the reader can understand the intellectual career by three studies, and consequently the social integration doesn’t automatically yield social mobility. In the situational analyses of Hodász example can be circumscribed the specific preconditions of intellectual career in the case of the young Romani and disadvantageous.

GIPSY CHILDREN AT THE DEBRECEN FOOTBALL ACADEMY–RESULTS OF A QUALITATIVE STUDY
39-50Views:157One of the aims of the present study is to briefly outline the issues related to gipsy and sportsmen in the literature, and to interpret the main challenges and potential barriers that arise in this context (Bailey, 2005; Sütő-Gabóda, 2013; Kovács, 2016; Faragó and Konczosné, 2017). We also aim to review the most important contexts related to the social background of athletes and, more narrowly, football academics as a possible option for breakout opportunities, based on the football academy system that has been operating in Hungary since 2001 (Rábai, 2021), and to examine specifically how the Debrecen Football Academy can help young people of gipsy origin to break out. The focus of our study is qualitative research, during which we interviewed the leaders of the Debrecen Football Academy in order to get answers to our questions about the gipsy children in the academy. During the interviews, the interviewees provide an overview of the recruitment, social background and typical career paths of gipsy children who have attended the academy so far, as well as a general discussion of their situation and opportunities. Based on our results, the children studying and developing at the football academies have a stable social background, and the Debrecen Football Academy also offers scholarship-like support opportunities that can help children from lower social status in the institution receive significant support. Academy leaders emphasized during the interviews that, although gipsy children often drop out of education, they have a number of successful careers behind them, suggesting that they too have every opportunity to break through the academy. Interviewees also said that they do their best to support gipsy children so that no one is disadvantaged because of economic or social deprivation.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEARNING MOTIVATIONS AND LABOR MARKET EXPECTATIONS
51-63Views:191Publications on student motivation in learning are available in Hungarian as well as in English-language scientific literature. The present study is aiming to focus on the connection between the motivation of learning and finding work in the labor market. The actuality of the topic is based on the fact that young people in front of a career choice mostly apply for higher education and there are only fewer of them willing to learn a profession. Is everyone really that motivated to learn? What are the external and internal factors that motivate the individual to learn? Does family background have an impact on the performance of the student? We have been looking for answers to these questions. According to our primary results, the majority of the examined young adults are willing to continue to study after high-school graduation. That is how they think they will later prevail entering the labor market. The most common specializations chosen are health and economy. At the first place of their learning motivation ranking, we find “want to be successful attitude”.

NEW APPROACH TO ANALYSIS OF HIGHLY QUALIFIED YOUNG WORKERS: THE PRECARIATE
7-17Views:196The study focuses on the labour-market situation of young graduates utilizing the database of the Hungarian Graduate Tracking System. The purpose of the research is to map certain characteristics of the precarious situation posed by the labor market on this group which is in a rather favorable labor market position in comparison to other groups. The concept of the precariat is defined as a type of labor-market uncertainty, in which unfavorable working conditions, like insecure short-term jobs, fixed-term employment contracts, low wages, etc. are concentrated. In addition to the lack of financial security, these characteristics may lead to general insecurity and in some cases to labor market and social exclusion (LaVaque-Manty 2012, Standing 2012). This analysis focuses on the presence of a precarious condition that creates an insecure labour-market situation among young graduates and it attempts to find the main explanatory variables in the interpretation of this phenomenon. In addition, it investigates whether socio-demographic, socio-cultural characteristics, like gender, marital status, type of qualification (BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. degree), and the type of settlement (village, town, city, etc.) affect success in the labour-market. Preliminary results support previous studies that found women in the labor market were disadvantaged. For example, the proportion of women with a fixed employment contract is higher than men, and the interruption of a labor market career is more characteristic of women. More women gave a positive answer to ”I am not working at the moment although I have previously had a workplace”. This suggests that women are more affected by a less stable and less secure labor market than men.

SEPARATE? TOGETHER? WHERE OVER?
147-156Views:170In the history of special education in Hungary, after the establishment and successful operation of segregated special education institutions with a long history, public education has come to many forms of co-education, the paths of which are still not unhindered. These problems point to the need for many changes in the way the education system works. Without constant and permanent development of teachers and innovative innovations in learning methods, success can hardly be expected. But there are other important issues to be addressed. The present study focuses primarily on the direction in which trends can be found in the light of the past. While exploring the current issues, we would like to provide a new framework for interpretation by highlighting and linking some of the results of two recently completed studies (Szabóné, 2022; Trembulyák, 2022) and by placing them in the context of the topic of the study. The study also aims to draw attention to the current trend that the school life of pupils with special educational needs who have participated in co-education at the primary level becomes more difficult as they progress to secondary education. This can significantly reduce not only their career choices but also their opportunities for successful social integration.

IS THERE AN IDEAL AGE TO WIN AN OLYMPIC MEDAL?
7-17Views:373Knowledge of the age at which elite athletes achieve peak performance could provide invaluable information for the athletes to plan their career, to carefully select sports events promising successful participation. We aimed to identify the age at which top athletes achieved their Olympic medals, and to observe any changes in the average medal-winning age over the last decades. The age of Olympic medallists between 1960 Rome and 2016 Rio were collected using an online database. Data were gathered from the following individual sports: track and field, swimming, fencing (foil, épée, saber), triple jump, long jump, high jump, and wrestling (57 events all together). The study evaluates and compares the trends in the age of the winners in each discipline. Disciplines of this study show one of the two trends: the trend of increasing age, or trend of decreasing in age. In those disciplines, in which the Olympic medallists were younger than 26 years at the beginning of the examination period, such as swimming, the medallists became older over the decades. In those disciplines, however, in which the top three were older than 26 years at the beginning of the examination period, such as fencers, younger and younger athletes won their Olympic medals as time went by. The age and the trend in the changes of the age of the medallists in the examined disciplines support the theory of an optimal age, being around 26 years.
