DEVELOPMENTAL RESULTS OF KINDERGARTEN AGE CHILDREN WITH PHYSICAL HANDICAPS DURING CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION
55-69Views:180Conductive education (CE), a method suitable for habilitating/rehabilitating individuals with motor disorders caused by damage to the central nervous system has now become known all over the world. The practice has proved its effectiveness and thus it has been established outside Hungary as well. Several international studies have examined the effectiveness of CE (Rochel and Weber, 1992; Bairstow, 1993; Reddihough, 1998; Blank and von Voss, 1996–2001). Research has revealed that in order to exactly measure the performances of people with disabilities we need rather complex measurement tools. Thus it has become necessary to elaborate a measurement tool that is suitable for measuring changes in the performances of individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) objectively and at the same time reflect the approach of CE. One of the fundamental aims of the criteria referred to by the author as “Criteria for monitoring children with cp under conductive education” (CMCP) was to clearly specify the object of observation and to render the observation of its elements easier. With the help of the CMCP observations of children’s condition and development can be registered in 54 main categories. Moreover, the amount of assistance can be monitored and registered in 42 subcategories and the time factor in a further 41 subcategories while studying motor actions and activities. Thus after completing the monitoring criteria altogether 137 different findings will be available on every child, providing the opportunity of graphic depiction as well. Those applying the criteria will be able to register comprehensive, complex observations. Monitoring can be effected in the natural group environment without removing the children from their usual surroundings. The study presents a comparative analysis of 67 children.

Moderate-Risk Prematurity does not Hinder the Development of Reading and Spelling Abilities Despite the Lower IQ
35-50Views:111Background and aims: It is well established that the impacts of prematurity are often long-lasting in the various domains of development, however, the published findings concerning the prevalence, severity, and background of disorders are inconsistent. As yet research into the development of abilities contributing to the academic progress in Hungarian preterm children has been scarce. Our study aimed to find out to what extent prematurity impeded the reading and spelling abilities in school age and to contribute some information on the cognitive background of the performances. Methods: Three groups of 7 – 12 year-old children participated in the study. The target group consisted of moderate-risk preterms. For comparison two groups of full-term children were tested: typically developing good readers and dyslexics. To assess the reading and spelling abilities the Hungarian version of the 3DM (Dyslexia Differential Diagnosis) was used. Cognitive abilities were assessed using the Hungarian adaptation of the WISC-IV and the Rey Complex Figure Test. Results: The reading and spelling performances of the full-term good readers and the preterms did not differ and the preterms scored higher than the dyslexics. The cognitive tests did not offer any direct explanation to this, since the preterms lagged behind the full-term good readers in the WISC-IV full-scale IQ as well as in several specific cognitive measures. The CART Decision Tree served to analyse the relationships, allowing to reveal the interactions and the moderation effects. Discussion: The CHC model as a theoretical framework and the CART Decision Tree statistical analysis proved to be fruitful to disentangle the complex interplay of the cognitive background factors. There are various cognitive paths of acquiring the reading and spelling skills, e.g., in case of relatively lower IQs the sufficient levels of memory and processing speed may ensure success.

EFFECTS OF LABOR MARKET INTEGRATION, IN PARTICULAR CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR AND QUALITY OF LIFE

The program can respond individually to the existing difficulties, thus improving the quality of life of the participants. The aim of the study is to examine the factors that determine the behavioral changes and the quality of life quality among the job seekers who can't be included in employment for mental, social, or health reasons. Methods: In our study, we monitored changes in general well-being, livelihoods, financial backgrounds, family backgrounds, health problems, work-related problems, social services, and healthcare services during the five months of the program, and analyzed the results obtained by quantitative and qualitative methods. Conclusion: Well-being has a positive effect on both the subjective emotional experiences of employees, their work performance, and their workplace behavior. We think that society should pay attention to sensitizing employers, develop insurance programs for complex packages of support, to ensure workplace factors influencing the improvement of the quality of life for workers' attention. The quality of life of our study confirmed that adequate support (mentoring, counseling, through programs supporting), to increase job satisfaction, workplace, which has many advantages in terms of not only the individual, but employers and society: improving the quality of work, the Workplace behavior and morale, less absenteeism, lower sickness, and fluctuation rates, and employment rate increases.

THE MYSTERY OF THE CHILD PLAYING WITH PUPPETS, OR THE PUPPET THAT AMPLIFIES THE SOUL
99-117Views:220According to Teréz Virág (1998) a psychologist with regard to the 'mysteries' of the power of the puppet, three different spheres are worth investigating, namely the mysteries of the puppets, that of the child who plays with the object, and that of the puppeteer's. She views puppetry as creation, the puppeteer as the life-giver, and the puppet as an object of transition. When the aim is to develop the artistic methods as well as explore the 'general utility' of puppetry, it is worth further focusing on segments such as the making of the puppet, acting with the puppet, and perceiving the puppet play. These are three different viewpoints and three approaches. The study presents that the puppet in the child's hand is capable of embodying incomprehensible and insufferable feelings as well as making the unknowable accessible. In pedagogy today puppet play is believed to undoubtedly have a developmental impact, argued for widely with conventions, but it seems that there is still a lack of sincerely understanding of the being of the puppet and its mechanism of action, its principal essence. In my study, I elaborate on the questions of why and how puppet play can be of assistance, and what the puppet can actually mean in the child's hands. The puppet is an object, that makes a motion as it is assuming a role and takes action while portraying this role, it substitutes for someone or something. Being the puppet presupposes a space for the play, in which it takes the place of this someone/something by replacing what it represents. The primary goal of the study is to show that by playing with an object, a puppet lays a bridge in an abstract way between the visible and the invisible world, enabling thus art pedagogy to develop the child with its complex mode of action. The psychological mechanism of identification is best characterized by the eagerness to act, and the artistic genre of puppet play, providing the stage for action, is eminently capable of satisfying this urge. In the creative process, the approach of animation, the metaphorical thinking of the puppeteer, the abstraction as well as the development of the related assertive skills rely on all the operations of thinking; also, the simultaneity of the multi-lateral perception, the complex interpretation of communication play important roles.

THE EFFECT OF PICTURE EXCHANGE COMPLEX EARLY INTERVENTION ON CHILDREN’S SOCIAL SKILLS WITH ASD
7-17Views:389In the present research, we were interested in the correlations between the development of cognitive and communication skills, along with musical social abilities in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This was verified by correlation design based on the abilities of ASD children between 11, 3, and 5 years of age. Based on this, we created a complex image shifting early development program that targets the development of cognitive skills and speech through music. We observed using Custom Design what changes this development program results in the children’s socialization. The program consists of 12 occasions, with three children participating in the activities, during which we used our own “Together with Bo!” image shifting tool. Our research reveals that correlations can be recognized between these abilities and that cognitive, communication skills, and musical abilities together with are predictors of social abilities. This is also evidenced by the effectiveness of the development program, as not only targeted skills have evolved, but also socialization. Consequently, we can state that learning through gaming also plays an important role in socialization.

IMPROVEMENT OF FINE MOTOR SKILLS IN CEREBRAL PARETIC PATIENTS
79-85Views:270The aim of this review is to give an overview of the ADL functions in children and young adults with cerebral palsy and our planned studies. For measuring the ADL functions, the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and the Functional Independence Measure for Children (WeeFIM) will be used. The hand functions will be analyzed by the Quality of Upper Extremity Skills Test (QUEST). The fine motor skills of the hand will be revealed by using the selected subtests of the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT-2). Based on the outcomes of the measures, a complex therapeutic protocol will be implemented including the elements of the ergo and manual therapy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), and piano therapy. It is anticipated that the complex therapy adapted to individual needs will result in significant improvement in the ADL functions in disabled children and young adults.

THE OXIPO GAME COLLECTION FOR DEVELOPING COGNITIVE ABILITIES
63-73Views:1328This study is a presentation of the first phase of a complex research project which aims to present the theoretical background of a new game collection (based on OxIPO model). We have compiled a game collection to improve cognitive abilities in early childhood. Concerning cognitive abilities, Affolter's (1972), Sindelar's (1994) and others' earlier developmental approaches took into account visual, auditive or motoric (inter) modalities of perception, however, we believe we need a more complex model to cover the full capability. Within the framework of the OxIPO model (Mező, 2002, 2016), learning is interpreted as an information processing process. In the OxIPO model (Field, 2002, 2016), Learning = Organization x (Input + Process + Output) allows us to control and systemize not only the input modalities but also the output modalities and also to interpret some cognitive abilities in the process phase. We have created a game-collection based on six input (visual, auditive, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile) modalities and five cognitive abilities (perception, attention, memory, conceptual thinking, problem-solving thinking) and three output (visual, auditive, motoric) modalities. The outcome of the six input modalities and the five target abilities and the three output modalities there are 90 different games that can be described by the OxIPO model. In the future, we would like to prove with empirical studies that this game collection can be used for testing and developing 90 independent cognitive abilities. On the other hand, we need to prove that these cognitive abilities indeed influence the daily lives of children and their effectiveness.

Issues of Urbanizations in Kyrgyzstan: New Settlements of Bishkek

SETTLEMENTS AND PEOPLE MID-TERM INVESTIGATION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A DESEGREGATION PROGRAM
57-76Views:253Programs aimed to eliminate segregated life conditions have appeared again in domestic integration practice in the last two decades. The goal of “Roma settlement programs” is the implementation of complex interventions improving social integration and housing conditions in communities, and social work has an important role in this process. We will examine in our study the relevance of social work in an ongoing integration program in the framework of a survey that questioned social workers and residents of the segregates. The research focuses on two aspects of the programs. First, the social workers’ experiences will be examined about their work and processes that complicate it, and secondly, a survey conducted among the target group will investigate the utilization of the elements in the program and the characteristics of the relations between the target groups. Finally, the policy background of the programs, changes in the regulations of social work, and opinions of the professionals and target groups will be introduced compared similar programs in nearly a hundred settlements in the country.

In the study, we examined how previous educational integration practices related to the segregation program in a settlement.

THE PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIMENT OF MONTESSORI-CONDUCTIVE EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE 2000-2003
11-23Views:339The researchers call Montessori's pedagogy developer or development pedagogy. In the past decade, in Hungary, it appeared as a development pedagogy in the pedagogical practice. The conductive education is a special, complex pedagogical method [6] because it takes into consideration special educational needs in planning and implementation. We can view Mária Montessori's method as a development pedagogical method because it's suitable for children with special educational needs. Her pedagogical work began with children with intellectual disabilities. The Montessori development method has not yet occurred in conductive education. With our research, we wanted to broaden the use of the Montessori method in the practice of special education and development pedagogy. We wanted to confirm the similarity and difference of the holistic approach of the two doctor-pedagogues. It's explicable with Pető's holistic approach, why didn't entrust the development of perception, speech, motion, and communication difficulties to people working in different places and time. We introduced the Montessori conductive educational practice experimentally in the semesters of 2000-2003 and 2007-2008, in accordance with the student's college education. The purpose of the program was to demonstrate the practical application of the elements of the two methods and their coordinated operation.

NARRATIVE APPROACH IN THE HELPING RELATIONSHIPS
59-70Views:187The authors present a very flexible cogitative framework by using the narrative approach, which can be applied not only in a wide range of helping relationships but also in private life. They discuss the postmodern and the constructivist model which forms the basis for narrative psychology. Three cases are presented to demonstrate the potential of the method. In the first case, the narrative behind the behavior is easily detectable and can be altered in a simple manner, thus the problem can be solved. The second case encompasses a complex problem, and the instruments of narrative psychotherapy are presented here. The authors here emphasized the thoughtful use of linguistic instruments. The third case illustrates the possibility of multiple narratives for the underlying problems, and that choosing the right narrative determines the possibility for solutions. A person creates his/her own destiny when choosing the narratives, for which he/she bears the responsibility.

ASSESSMENT OF THE ADAPTIVE FUNCTIONING LEVEL OF STUDENTS WITH MODERATE INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY USING THE VINELAND SOCIAL MATURITY SCALE
25-38Views:207Background and aim: Individuals with intellectual disability are expected to have significant limitations in intellectual functioning and adaptive behaviour, which affect the individual's ability to cope with social and practical situations. The present study is concerned with the assessment of the adaptive functioning of young people with moderate intellectual disability, which is part of a more complex study (this study will investigate the impact of adaptive functioning levels of students with moderate intellectual disability on parents' subjective perceptions). Method: the study presents the results of the assessment of adaptive functioning of students with moderate intellectual disability (n=9) using the Vineland Social Competence Scale. Results: the social age of the students in the study is significantly below their age, especially in the areas of communication, socialisation, and self-management. The study confirms previous findings (Hatos, 2008; Radványi, 2001) and highlights the need for teachers of students with moderate intellectual disabilities to develop these skills.

EDUCATION FOR MULTIPLE DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS IN ISRAEL

The religious, political, cultural, and economic diversity of society has left a strong impression on education, including the educational provision of minority students. The topic of the writing is the education in Israel, including the most disadvantaged group, the past of the Bedouin pupils and their current situation. Nowadays, Bedouins make up one-third of the Negev population (210,000 people) who have been constantly turning from semi-nomadic lifestyles into living in the past decades. About 90,000 people live in unknown villages and camps, which in itself poses serious difficulties for Israeli education policy. The article gives an overview of the changes in Bedouin's social situation in the past 60-70 years, the circumstances of the first school, the effectiveness of the Bedouin pupils, their opportunities for further education, and its characteristics. In order to understand the functioning of the education system, it is essential to know about teacher training and the characteristics of the teachers who work in Bedouin schools.

ABOUT MEASUREMENT OF SOCIAL INTEGRATION IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
This paper reports official data about the well-known EU migration crisis and examines the methods used to evaluate the social integration of third-country migrants into the European Union. I argue that the Zaragoza indicators, – which are currently being used – cannot include all the aspects of migrant integration, and because of this deficiency, they are not able to track the ongoing integrational processes correctly for experts and decision-makers. To demonstrate and prove this argument a comparative analysis is performed in the article. I compare data about six countries (United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Belgium, and Switzerland) from two data sources: the Zaragoza Indicators and the EurIslam research. The EurIslam research is a complex social-scientific project for examining the relation between Muslim migrants and their host societies and its overall considerations could make the future extension of Zaragoza indicators possible.

TIC DISORDER: SYMPTOMATIC TREATMENT OR UNCOVERING AND DISSOLVING PSYCHODYNAMIC PROCESSES
65-89Views:208This study focuses on tic disorders in childhood. Its topicality is due to the fact that while most of the latest studies on the topic have dealt with the visible symptoms from a biological and behaviorist point of view, this study presenting a case of a 6,5-year-old girl attempts to show how to reveal conflicts underlying tic disorders from a psychodynamic perspective. In the case of children, it is of crucial importance that interventions must focus not only on visible symptoms but also on dissolving tension behind them. After a complex theoretical overview of the topic, we try to give an answer to the following question in the testing period: what kind of intra- and interpersonal factors play a role in the manifestation of tic symptoms and other behavioral problems in the case of this particular child? To reveal these, we use psychodynamic projective tests. The results confirm severe emotional and interpersonal instability and internal factors of aggression and anxiety. With regard to the age and personal particularities, these justify dynamic psychotherapy. In the final section, our aim is to give some advice to parents and educators about how to handle children with tic disorders.

SOCIOCULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ROMA COMMUNITY OF TISZABERCEL AND PATTERNS OF BEHAVIOR RELATED TO SCHOOLING

In the course of our research, we analyzed how the educational characteristics of Roma families in the Romungro community of Tiszabercel interact with other factors influencing school progress. We tried to map the extent to which certain sociocultural factors (educational level, workplace, housing conditions, gender and age) influence parents' attitudes towards school. Regarding the methodological apparatus of our research, we relied on qualitative research methods. In addition to field research and participant observation, we conducted semi-structured interviews (n=12) with parents belonging to the local Roma community.

We have assumed that the possibilities of environmental education outside the classroom can be integrated into the complex system of conductive education, even for children with special needs. I would like to highlight those activities that trigger the flow experience for our students, helping create an internal motivation for all activities that serve the interests of environmental education. The changes also show in the increased number of such programs. Even though we are a segregated school, environmental education is still very decisive in our institution and we try to convey this view outside our walls.

USING DIFFERENT TEACHING STYLES AND THE IPOO MODEL
39-47Views:256Quality PE teaching requires the application of a wide variety of both direct and indirect teaching methods. The aim of our research is to examine the efficiency of teacher-centered (DM) and student-centered (IM) methodology in accordance with the IPOO model (Mező, 2011) in all fields of sports education. The action research was carried out in year five in two classes (n=46): the focus was on developmental aims in handball prescribed in the curriculum. On the basis of the IPOO model lessons in the DM (sample) and IM (control) classes were held through 4 weeks, 2 lessons a week. Students’ motivation in PE was examined with H-PMCSQ-2 questionnaire during the last lesson; while basic technical handball skills were examined before and after the experiment. Results show that indirect teaching methods have a more complex educational effect; it could influence important cognitive and affective domains.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH MUSIC EDUCATION
189-196Views:358The study focuses on a small but important segment of Hungarian culture, the musical education of children aged 3-7. Its central theme is to examine how the adaptation of folk games and related movements can be one of the most complex developmental forces in the personality development of this age group. This is because this period is fundamental in terms of cultural transmission and plays an integrative role in aesthetic education. As the pre-school child develops musically, his or her memory, imagination, associative abilities, creativity, attention and interest are constantly being developed through joyful activity, since his or her movements in connection with folk play are not yet guided and determined by the meaning and content of the text, but by the melody and its rhythm and the spontaneous feeling of joy associated with them. The role of musical education, and within it of folk games, is also evident in the process of emotional education, socialisation, intellectual development and language development. The links examined and presented demonstrate that folk games help children to develop skills that will enable them to become school-ready and to continue to develop in adult life.

THE AIM AND EFFECT SYSTEM OF CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION, I.E.THE PROCESS OF ESTABLISHING THE ORTHOFUNCTION
73-93Views:315This study is aimed to introduce the position and the necessity of conductive education in the education, instruction, and development of persons with motor disabilities. The primary aim of conductive education is to improve the quality of life of individuals living with disabilities of central nervous origin. For this purpose, a specific effect system has been developed in the past 70 years which guarantees the efficiency of the method. Its concept of humankind is holistic which is reflected also by the complexity of the education process. Rehabilitation is approached from the aspect of pedagogy, thus it is seen as learning and re-learning and this is manifested in every minute of the daily routine. In the present study, the interrelations within the goal and effect system of conductive education are analyzed through the specialist literature of conductive education written in Hungarian as part of complex theoretical research. During the analysis, the author aspired to identify and separate the factors of conductive education, to analyze their functioning and to explore the underlying principles, which offers the opportunity for theoretical-academic modeling. The meaning of the terms orthofunction and dysfunction is examined in a separate chapter of the study with regard to their impact on the target setting and the effect system.

SIBLING CARE - SIBLINGS CARING FOR ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES
111-121Views:543The increasing life expectancy of adults with intellectual disabilities has raised new questions and challenges for families. Depending on the severity of their condition, people with intellectual disabilities need support from their families and environment to vary degrees throughout their lives. They depend on their family members, which addiction is a new problem as parents get older, and care will be the responsibility of siblings who are already living independent lives, sometimes geographically far away. Sibling care should be interpreted differently than when it is performed by a parent or a paid carer, it is more emotionally complex, its content and direction are diverse. We know not too much about sibling caregivers, we only have hypothetical answers to the questions based on a small number of studies or research in similar areas. This paper aims to provide an overview of the situation and motivations of adults who care of and take responsibility for their siblings with intellectual disabilities, and of their role and interaction of the various influences that help them understand. Getting to know siblings is necessary in order for the support system of the special education and social policy to adapt properly to the situation of the - unfortunately - barely ‘visible’ population.
