Szatmár és Várad kapcsolata az 1613. évi Báthory–Bethlen fejedelemváltás idején
63-69Megtekintések száma:01613 is an important date both in the history of the Royal Hungary and of the Principality of Transylvania. In this year, the Turks put an end to the reckless and inordinate political career of Gábor Báthory, helping his former devotee, Gábor Bethlen, into the throne of Transylvania. With this, a long blooming started in the life of the Principality. The centre of Bihar county, the castle of Várad played an important strategical role already during the 15-Year War, Várad meant the gate to Transylvania. The Royal Hungary put efforts into getting the castle back – in vain – even after the death of Gábor Báthory. András Nagylucsei Dóczy received order for the turning over of Várad first as a royal commissioner, and then as the chief of the Castle of Szatmár. In my study, I present the relationship of the two castles in the closing days of the principality of Gábor Báthory based on the extensive correspondence of the chief of Szatmár. -
A trianoni államhatár hatása a Nyírség és a Szatmári-síkság társadalmára 1900 és 1941 között
57-67Megtekintések száma:0In my study, I am primarily looking for the answer to how the Trianon state border affected the society of the Nyírség and the Szatmár plain in the first half of the 20th century. The recent literature of geography clearly classifies the Trans-Tisza border strip along the Hungarian-Romanian border as a peripheral area, but the question is whether the new state border had a negative effect between 1920 and 1941 or could have been the result of a longer-term process. In the case of the Nyírség and the Szatmár plain, I consider the districts in contact with the state border to be the border zone. I examine the problem of living near the border through two development indicators, one of which is the migration balance and the other the literacy rate. I hope that through the examination of the migratory movement and the education conditions, it becomes possible to perceive how the state border of Trianon affected the society of the border strip between the Nyírség and the Szatmár plain. -
Egy partiumi zsidó ügyvéd politikai pályakezdete
26-42Megtekintések száma:0The present study makes an attempt to assess the political role-taking opportunities of Dr. Samu Kelemen (1862–1916) who was an Israelite and one of the representatives of Szatmárnémeti in the Parliament. From 1905, he was MP of the city that had been granted municipal rights in the Party of Independence and '48. Dr. Samu Kelemen, as a freelance intellectual, belonged to the middle classes. As a result of his public activity, the sought-after lawyer got integrated into the social life of Szatmárnémeti. Dr. Kelemen served as member of the Municipal Committee; moreover, as the director and later as prosecutor of the Trade and Industrial Bank of Szatmár, he also dealt with financial institutions. He was the main architect and president of the Chamber of Commerce and Economy of Szatmár, and was also active in the field of journalism, which culminated during the period of his political career. The character, public-political style, party preference of Dr. Samu Kelemen, as well as the rhetoric and content of his articles and public speeches at the beginning of his political career are studied in the present paper. An attempt is also made to reconstruct Dr. Samu Kelemen's conception of electoral law, since the issue of electoral reform became a dominant topic of political discourse from the governmental crisis of 1905–1906 onwards. -
Visszapillantás a Római Katolikus Egyházmegyei Levéltár és Könyvtár első húsz évére
39-53Megtekintések száma:1In 1993, Pope John Paul II in his decree starting with Hungarorum gens regularized the borders of the Hungarian Roman Catholic dioceses, and established the Debrecen-Nyíregyháza Episcopate including Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Hajdú-Bihar counties as a new diocese (besides that of Kaposvar). The memorandum of association of the Diocesan Archives was signed by Nándor Bosák diocesan on 30th December 1995. The collection including the archives and library was formed to save the book and document materials of the priestless parishes of the diocese (and the filias belonging to them). The registration as public private archives took place in 1997. Since the autumn of 2001, it operates with regular opening hours. The section-level settlement of the documents of the 38 handled parishes was completed in 2013, its fondlist was finished by the spring of 2014. In 2015, the institution moved to a separate building at 17 Varga str. Researchers are also offered an expanding themed, singificantly increasing amount of manual library to choose from. Its first publication: Katolikusok Debrecenben (Catholics in Debrecen) 1715-2015 was released in 2015.
