The aim of my study is to process the barely presented slice of the history of Nagykőrös: the history of the place, society, economy and politics of Nagykőrös between the two world wars. Luckily, with the help of the abundant remaining archival material and knowledge of the literature, the study aims to create a picture of Nagykőrös, with which we can also seek answers to three major questions. The first question is how a market town struggles to survive the social and economic regression caused by World War I. The second is how the situation changes when the leadership of the town is concentrated in the hands of a worthy mayor with progressive economic and political aspirations. The third question is how the problems of the world economy, national conservative politics and local political battles tie the hands of the progressive mayor. The author of the study trusts the reader to judge if clear answers indeed have been found to these questions.

With the end of the Second World War, the city administration of Hajdúszoboszló thought that the time had come to formulate large-scale plans for the development of the spa, which is a tourist attraction of the settlement. The local tourism policy primarily focused on developing the town into a world bath town, but the city administration had almost no financial resources to realize the idea. They were highly confident that they would receive government support to achieve their goal within the framework of the new political and economic system, but they soon became disappointed. Based on the minutes of the Board of Representatives, I examine in my study how the town management tried to assert its interests in the late 1940s in the face of dwindling development opportunities and ever-changing political and organizational frameworks, and how MPs responded to the new ideological expectations. According to the minutes of the Board of Representatives, three issues generated particularly many controversy during the period under review: the exploration and utilization of medicinal clay, the acquisition of a spa or holiday resort title, and the price of spa tickets. Therefore, I shed light on the questions raised in this study by a detailed analysis of these three issues.

This study aims to present a possible way of analysing the theological autobiography of Imre Révész, based on the concept of Zoltán Z. Varga. The analysis is based on three main aspects: honesty, realism, and transparency, which appear to correspond to the fragmentation of the term CV (self – honesty, course – transparency, of life – realism). In Révész’s theological autobiography, the confessional nature is a guarantee of honesty, and the realistic reading appears primarily in the reality of the venues and characters. The third aspect is perhaps the most complex, as I am trying to shed light on the “significance” of what is described in the autobiography, and then in the last few thoughts of the writing, I am examining the curiosities of the bishop’s ego document.
