In this study I take a closer look at siblings of drug addicts. We can find similar researches about parents and spouses, but rarely about siblings. The purpose of this study is to bridge this gap. In this research, five semi-structured interviews were conducted with members of the Blue Point Foundation Sibling Group, and one interview was done with a non-member. The interviews were processed with thematic analysis.

Results: The results show that substance use was negatively altering the relationships between siblings and family members. In all cases siblings were aware of substance use way before their parents. They feel responsible for saving the drug user family member. Substance use negatively affects school achievements, work performance and day-to-day life of those around the user.

Conclusion: I would like to raise the attention of professionals and parents for the need of helping siblings of drug users.

The aim of the research is to map out the temporal distribution of demands for home care services with special attention to the time periods outside normal service hours (on weekdays, from 8 to 16). It also describes the factors influencing demand and identifies the types of demand typical of the hours outside working time.

The research has been carried out on a sample of 103 individuals, all clients of a social care institution, by way of voluntary and anonymous questionnaires. The questionnaires have been analysed along five research questions and seven hypotheses. Demands for home care clearly varied with regard to temporal distribution (daily and weekly patterns), and the research could also specify the types of activity requested. Based on this data we can clearly identify the need for services outside general service hours. The hypothesised background factors influencing the demand for care services have not proven to affect the use of service significantly; more research is needed in this field.

Our study’s aim is to open a debate and reflect to the crisis of social work, the empty usage of social work as a concept and method, the distance of theoretical work and practise and the struggle of no means in everyday work.

Our views and experiences are illustrated through two program’s experiences dealing with reducing housing poverty, supported by significant sums, and we focus on social work.

Amikor Katit erre a témára felkértük, a hivatásrend alatt a professzionális keretrendszert értettük.  Az elmúlt években látható, ahogy kifeszül a kerete a szakmának, klienscsoportok rekesztődnek ki és a szociális munka önmagába záródik (roskad) és mindez leképeződik a napi működésben. Közpolitikai diskurzus nem igen van. Erről gondolnia kell a képzőknek, terephelyeknek, felelősségünk a diákok felé, hogy nem szolgálhatjuk ki a torz társadalmi valóságot. De mi a mozgástér? Mibe kapaszkodhatunk? Mik a valid értékek? Erről szerettünk volna tanulni.
