Spencer és az informális gondozás
Views:157This paper takes stock of the welfare-related views of the great 19th century philosopher and sociologist Herbert Spencer. Following the British sociologist John Offer, who has been at the forefront of research on Spencer's oeuvre, the main elements of Spencer's welfare pluralism, embedded in his organic social theory, are presented. An attempt is made to show that social conceptions based on different epistemologies are not logically compatible, with exclusionary consequences. This is why Spencer's ideas on welfare have long been parked in sociological and socio-political thought. And the reason for its perceptible revival is the epistemological change in thinking about society. The consequences of this can be felt in several ways. On the one hand, in the emergence of informal care theory and practice, and in the research potential of social policy, and on the other hand, in the philosophical background behind the amendment of the Hungarian Social Law of 2022.

Hajléktalan nők biztonsága koedukált intézményekben
Views:177In our study, we explore the issue of safety among homeless women. While the question of safety for homeless people is addressed by several domestic studies, these typically do not separately examine women's experiences. In addition to reviewing international and Hungarian literature, we present three pieces of research conducted among users of the Budapest Methodological Centre of Social Policy and its Institutions. First, we present data obtained from secondary analysis of social work documentation regarding the previous experiences of homeless women. Then, we discuss relevant findings from the Needs Assessment survey conducted among women using its services. Finally, we analyse the responses related to safety from the Customer Satisfaction survey. We consulted with employees of several organizations about these findings and incorporated their feedback and observations into our Conclusions. These recommendations, along with best practices, can be important not only for organizations providing services to the homeless but for any social service that supports women.

Lehetőségek és akadályok a nevelőszülők és pedagógusok közötti együttműködésben
Views:397Parenting refers to the reciprocal relationship between parent and child, which research often examines in terms of the child's progress in school. The present research analyses the characteristics of the interaction between foster parents and school. Our aim is to explore the specific aspects of foster parent involvement and to identify the factors that support and hinder the relationship between teachers and foster parents. The novelty of the research is that it examines the issue from the perspective of foster parents and teachers in Hajdú-Bihar County. The basic questions are: (1) How can the relationship between foster parents and school be characterised? (2) What form does the relationship and cooperation take? (3) What factors influence the partnership? Data collection was based on semi-structured interviews with 15 foster parents and 10 teachers. The results showed that the relationship was typically personal and that teachers' empathic attitudes, considering the specific fostering situations, were supportive factors. However, both parties reported a number of negative experiences, suggesting that cooperation is hampered by various barriers and misconceptions. The research also highlighted that a partnership approach between educational actors (teachers, foster parents) and training in child protection skills are essential for more effective cooperation.

A szimulációk alkalmazásának lehetőségei a szociális munka oktatásában és gyakorlatában
Views:229Simulation techniques can also be used in the education of social work students, in the further training of professionals, and as a practical tool for social work. According to international experience, by participating in social work simulations, students can gain more practice, develop skills, receive feedback, and become confident and competent before they start providing services to clients (SUNARICH & ROWAN, 2017). Types of simulation are simple simulations, standardized clients, large-scale, multi-participant situations such as poverty or reintegration simulations, computer programs and simulations using virtual reality, but we can also include simulation board games or interactive theater performances. In the study, we present several examples and good practices and examine the possible benefits of using simulations.

Szakmai életutak az ifjúsági munkában: Révész Györgyné Bárdos Veronika és Révész György
Views:254The Révész married couple embodies, as perhaps one of the last few examples, the type of pedagogist couples working not only as teachers but serving in many issues of the school and the settlement. They served from 1972 for 34 years in the village of Gomba in Pest County, feasting school innovations as well. György Révész led the 4092nd Dózsa György Pioneer Unit from 1974 for 25 years, and after 52 years he is still a member of the leadership of the unit. Veronika Bárdos is a constituent of the story without a formal role. It is special that the pioneer leaders of the group have been young leaders since 1974, most of them joined as high-school students or young adults; they still refer to themselves as „young leaders” after decades. Since when young leaders started doing the great part of the pioneer leaders' work, the pedagogists have also been volunteers, or nonmembers of the unit. The many young leaders have turned the pioneer unit into a children's and youth organization, which even has a function of advocacy. It was after the end of Socialism that György Révész's activity extended to the national level of the Pioneer Association, the movement pedagogy, and later to the movement's history. He is still active in the systemization of documents, in the organization of their preservation, as well as in the unit of Gomba and its camps.

Az emberi méltóságtól való megfosztottság megélése egy szociális intézményben
Views:180This case study examines the institutional experience of a user of a temporary shelter for the homeless. The focus of the study is on the clients' perceptions of their own dignity. It aims to provide a perspective on what is worth reflecting on the crisis in social work or what pathways can be seen to move towards a more professional values-based social work. The fundamental purpose and essence of social work is the protection of human dignity, especially for individuals, groups and communities at high risk of exclusion. In this paper, I intend to show how easily services, institutions and professionals can become partners in the violation of dignity, even though their function is to protect it.
