Mária Kurdi, Professor Emerita of English Studies, University of Pécs, and contributing editor of HJEAS, does research in Irish literature and theatre. Her publications include five books on contemporary Irish literature and drama, including Representations of Gender and Female Subjectivity in Contemporary Irish Drama by Women (Edwin Mellen Press, 2010). Author of a collection of interviews with Irish playwrights published in Hungarian (Kossuth Egyetemi Kiadó, 2004), she has published about a hundred articles in various journals and scholarly volumes. She co-edited Brian Friel’s Dramatic Artistry: “The Work Has Value” with Donald E. Morse and Csilla Bertha (Carysfort Press, 2006), two special issues and a special section of HJEAS (1999.1, 2005.2, 2013.2), the 2014 issue of the International Society for Third-Sector Research journal, Irish Theatre International with Miriam Haughton, a volume of selections from the work of Marvin Carlson in Hungarian translation with Zsuzsa Csikai (AMERICANA eBooks, 2014), and the collection Radical Contemporary Theatre Practices by Women in Ireland with Miriam Haughton (Carysfort Press, 2015). Her latest edited work is a centenary volume of essays about Arthur Miller in Hungarian (AMERICANA eBooks, 2015). Currently she is editing a themed block on aging and ageism in Anglophone literatures and theatre for HJEAS.
