Social media content on health and healthy eating and dietetics challenge users with a low health literacy index. There are often barriers to distinguishing who is a credible content producer and whose advice can be considered professionally relevant. In our research, we examine why the reach of social media content published by dietitians is lower than that of self-proclaimed advisors who appear to be experts. We analyzed the content of 14 Hungarian influencers in June, July, and August 2024 and tracked their follower numbers and reach using qualitative content analysis methods. We found that the reach and number of followers of influencers who are not distinct in terms of content credibility varies mainly as a function of daily activity. The more stories and posts influencers publish, the higher the rate of increase in their followers and reach of their content compared to those who rarely publish scientifically sound professionally valid content as registered dietitians. This means that the primary indicator of the credibility of the content that users seek on social media is the frequency of social media activity, the number of followers and likes, rather than the scientific, evidence-based validity of the content.

The use of ICT is widespread among social workers, many of them use digital technology and social media, keep in touch with their clients online and there are more and more people consulting online. There are also automated treatments that do not require the contribution of the social worker, robots have already appeared abroad in elderly care, use algorithms to prevent child abuse and suicide, and virtual reality in the treatment of addicts. How does all this affect social work as a profession, what professional and ethical issues does the use of technology raise? What kind of new skills do social workers need and how should they reinterpret their roles in the 21st century? In my study, I sought answers to these questions.

My research, which is part of a doctoral thesis, was made in Bereg the most backward subregion of Hungary in 2017. I examined the risk of poverty and social exclusion concerning the children of the age of 14 living here. I looked at this risk from a new angle, the angle of digital inequality. I looked for the answer whether the usage of the modern multi-media devices and the internet can help in the development of this subregion, the future generation will be able to meet the exigencies of the time, find a job in the digitalized labour market. Or else, the lack of these devices and the disability of using them make their position worse. I unveiled the students’ sociodemographic, socioeconomical features, the degree of the supply concerning multi-media devices, the purpose of their usage, their attributes and the factors causing digital inequality. I scrutinized the degree of ICT usage at schools, the relationship between the usage of the internet and the school achievements, the students’ relationships and their future prospects. In this article I would like to introduce the first part of my research in which I examined the socioeconomical background of the degree of supply with multimedia devices.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a much-researched functional gastrointestinal disease. The diagnosis and finding personalized therapy is a lengthy process. Our study aims to find out about the IBS patient’s search for solution: what specialists they turn to, what therapies they tried with what results, how strictly they follow specialists’ instructions, when do they start looking for a solution themselves, how much they trust the different specialists and what they think about their chances of recovery. We looked for volunteers with IBS disease on social platforms. From 45 volunteers, 27 submitted their responses to our survey. The results were evaluated with statistics done in Excel and SPSS: Pearson’s chi square, Fisher’s exact, standard deviation and distribution. Summary of results: there is a significant relationship between the onset of symptoms and the time when patients turn to a physician. With regards to the relationship between therapies applied and their efficacy on remediating symptoms, there was no significant relationship. Similarly, there was no significant relationship between strictly following the indications and their opinion about chances of recovery.
