Health behavior and mental health among college students at the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania
26-38Views:483Aim: Our study is a quantitative investigation on the health behaviour and mental health of Sapientia Hungarian University students.
Methods: The self-administered paper based standardized questionnaire contains several scales: the Self Esteem Inventory (RSESH), the Purpose in Life Test (PIL), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS4) and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12). Data of 206 respondents were analysed from the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania.
Results: Data show that students with lower self-esteem and mental health use more alcohol than students with higher selfesteem. Physical activity seems to be a protective factor against mental illness, the students who practice sport frequently are mentally healthier than those who do not. Mental health of students is largely socially determinated.

The transmission of social status and dropping out from higher education
5-23Views:438The transmission of social status and dropping out from higher education. The sociology of intellectuals offers us a special approach to the phenomenon of dropout. The rate of students with lower parental educational level (’non-traditional students’) has been changed during the process of the expansion. These students have deficiencies in several fields and these deficiencies can rise the chance of drop-out. In the frame of „Social and institutional factors of student dropout in higher education” project (led by Prof. Gabriella Pusztai, OTKA project, no. 123847) a database was created in 2018 (N=605). The respondents were earlier students after the drop-out process. We tried to identify the features of the sociocultural background, the main factors of the drop-out and compare the patterns of the first generation intellectuals and students with intellectual background. Our empirical findings have showed that in the case of lower parental level the elements of compulsion seems to be more typical and voluntary withdrawal seems to be more frequent in the other case.

Szakoktató szakos hallgatók induktív gondolkodásának fejlettsége
191-209Views:113The labour market expects that beginners have advanced communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, analogical and logical thinking, creativity, interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and be assertive and motivated. In professional teacher training, especially with regard to vocational education and training (VET), the role of these transversal competencies is, if possible, even more important, since it will be the task of teachers to develop these competencies of students in VET. In this research, the development of inductive thinking of students in vocational instructor training (VIT) was assessed. The inductive, and within that abstract, thinking of the 60 students participating in the correspondence VIT shows a very diverse picture. We managed to isolate a relatively small group who achieved good results with a small investment of time, so their thinking can be said to be fast and effective. However, there was also a larger group who made full use of the available time but whose inductive thinking was less developed. Both groups deserve special attention from a methodological point of view.

A lakhatási mobilitás hatása hátrányos helyzetű családok életmódjára
132-153Views:381In our research, we examined the impact of an integration program for catch-up purposes in a small settlement, which also provides housing mobility, on the lifestyle of the disadvantaged families affected by the intervention. During the interview research supplemented by document analysis, dimensions that determine lifestyle we were examined, such as the physical characteristics of the apartment, income situation, labor market situation, attitude to education, health status, and mental state. Based on the results, we found a positive correlation in several examined dimensions between the lifestyle change of the families involved in the research and moving out of the segregated area. At the same time, it can also be stated that housing mobility implemented within the framework of the catch-up project may not be able to have the expected effect and achieve the set goal in itself.

Practice oriented training from the business sphere’s aspect
164-183Views:521The aim of our article is to analyse the relation between higher education and the labour market with special regards to a newly developed way of education: dual education. In order to serve the changing needs of the labour market, higher educational institutions need to pay more attention to how their programs can better meet the expectations of future employers. The development of practice based skills in higher education is not only an expectation from the future employers but from future students as well. With the help of a questionnaire we mapped the opinion and assessed the needs of different companies in connection with their employed labour force. We analysed their experience gained in dual education, and we also investigated whether they were opened to play a role in dual training by providing employment for students doing their practice. By providing places for practical training, a growing number of employers could join the operation of higher education.
