On 24 November 2024, the Ohrid Macedonian Folk Ensemble, in cooperation with several institutions, organized the first Day of the Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia in Hungary. Although settlers from the territory of today’s Republic of North Macedonia arrived in several waves from the 16th century onward, this diverse culture—rich in values and unique features—has received relatively little attention in Hungarian science communication. Events that frame a dance house within an explicitly academic context and interpret it as a form of knowledge dissemination are particularly rare. This study examines the event, created through the collaboration of multiple artistic and academic institutions, as a case study, and demonstrates how a community‑based cultural programme built around the dance‑house tradition can function as an effective model for scientific outreach.

    Absztrakt

Folyóiratunk számainak végén a macedón archaikus rituális énekhagyomány évköri ünnepekhez kapcsolódó énekszövegeiből közlünk válogatást. Előző számunkban a tavaszi Lázár nap, a húsvét és a György nap szövegeiből válogattunk. Ezúttal a téli ünnepkör, a karácsony előtti koleda, a karácsony és a vízkereszt rituális énekhagyományából közlünk fordítást.

    Abstract

At the end of the issues of the journal, we present a selection of lyrics related to the calendric feasts of the Macedonian archaic ritual singing tradition. In our previous issue, we selected from the texts of spring feasts, Lazarus Day, Easter day and George Day. This time we provide a translation of the ritual singing tradition of the winter feasts, the pre-Christmas koleda, Christmas and the Epiphany.
