Types of publications

The Central European Journal of Educational Research (CEJER) publishes three main types of contributions: Thematic articles, Research papers, and Book reviews. Each type of publication is designed to foster scholarly dialogue, share advancements, and provide critical perspectives on educational issues.

Thematic articles

CEJER publishes a thematic section with 4-6 papers focusing on the same topic. Papers should be 4-5000 words in length, including abstract, keywords, tables, figures, the references and the appendix are not included. For more information, please see: Thematic Section and Guest Editor Applications.

Research papers

Research papers are independent from the thematic section. A research paper should present results of original investigation. A research paper is a piece of academic writing based on its author’s original research on a particular topic, and the analysis and interpretation of the research findings. Papers should be 3-4000 words in length, including abstract, keywords, tables, figures, the references and the appendix are not included.

Book reviews

Book reviews provide concise, critical evaluations of recent publications in the field of education. Reviews should summarize the main arguments of the book, assess its contribution to educational research or practice, and identify its strengths and potential limitations. Reviews should be 2-3000 words length.

Thematic Section and Guest Editor Applications

The Central European Journal of Educational Research (CEJER) dedicates a thematic section in each issue to explore significant and timely topics in educational research. This section invites contributions that deeply examine a specific theme, offering new perspectives, critical analyses, and innovative ideas that contribute to the scholarly discourse and inform policy and practice.

To curate the highest quality content, each thematic section is overseen by one or two guest editors who bring expertise and a clear vision for the theme. Guest editors are responsible for defining the thematic focus, managing the peer review process, and guiding contributors in meeting the journal’s standards. This role offers a valuable opportunity for scholars to shape discussions on emerging issues and contribute meaningfully to educational research in Central Europe and beyond.

Application Process for Guest Editors:

Qualified scholars are encouraged to apply as guest editors for thematic sections in upcoming issues.

Applications should include:

A brief proposal outlining the proposed theme, its relevance, and its significance to the field of education.

An outline of possible topics or key questions to be addressed within the theme.

A summary of the applicant’s expertise and relevant editorial experience, if applicable.

Proposals should be submitted to the managing editors of CEJER, who will review applications based on the proposed theme’s relevance, the applicant’s qualifications, and the potential to attract impactful contributions.
