Foreign workers in the Hungarian labour market
28-46Views:55This study aims to examine the impact of foreign labour on the Hungarian labour market. According to international literature, the economic impact of migration is complex: in the long term, it is generally positive, but in the short term it may negatively affect certain groups, especially those with lower qualifications. In the case of Hungary, I rely on regional and county-level data provided by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), Eurostat and the OECD. Particular attention is given to the Northern Great Plain region, where qualitative labour shortages are characteristic. Based on the results, the labour market effects of migration in Hungary are differentiated and vary by region and level of education.
