About the Journal

Since 2009, the research group Memoria Hungariae of the Institute of History of the University of Debrecen has been working on the organisation of international conferences on the history of Central Europe, the publication of volumes of studies, and the integration of the group into international research processes, thus examining the place and image of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary from a European perspective. The journal was launched after the publication in 2023 of Zwischen Ostsee und Adria ( Ostmitteleuropa im Mittelalter und in der Frühen Neuzeit. Politische-, wirtschaftliche-, religiösische- und wissenschaftliche Beziehungen), then, in 2024 Zwischen Ostsee und Adria II (Ostmitteleuropa im Mittelalter und in der Frühen Neuzeit. Die Möbilität von Menschen, Gütern, Geld, Diplomaten, Reliquien), volumes of studies on the medieval and early modern history of Central Europe, which was supported by a grant from the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office) Mecenatúra, and in which the contemplative lives on: studies on the medieval and early modern history of Central Europe by Hungarian and foreign scholars are published in foreign languages. The international editorial board brings together the universities of Debrecen, Würzburg, Hamburg and Toruń. One issue per year is published.
