This lecture was delivered at the Science Day Conference of Szolnok College in 2012. In my lecture I presented how Count István Széchenyi became the Founder of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from a globetrotti ng rich young nobleman. The presentati on showed that Széchenyi’s politi cal career includes a number of interesti ng things for... our age as well; the analysis of his career highlights the ’Greatest Hungarian’’s moral and politi cal magnitude.
Russia’s rich traditi on of literature devoted to the Caucasus has long att racted the att enti on of scholars because these corpora of texts are in close connecti on with the extended war carried out by the Russian Empire to gain dominium over the great mountain area and its Islamic tribes. Two poet-prisoners, Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail L...ermontov, two of the most prominent 19th century writers represent the intercultural traditi ons. As punishment for their rebellious verses both young Russian poets were transferred for service with the Russian Army to the South. Both of them put their impressions gathered on their tours of duty for good use in their works, A Journey To Arzrum and A Hero of Our Time. Their engagement with the Caucasus could be interpreted in the light of this historical connecti on not only as a geographical but rather as a cultural discovery.
This short paper gives an insight into the operati on of the 19th century Hungarian county government and into the administrati on history of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. The lecture presents the methodological techniques, which can explore the history of the former Hungarian public administrati on in 19th century and in the fi rst half of the... 20th century, the public fi gures of the ti me, and the biography of the key offi cials. The study presents the results of the research carried out by the scienti fi c staff of the County Archives that were achieved during the compilati on of the county archontological database. Albert Küry, who was the subprefect of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County between 1912 and 1919, was a prominent fi gure of this era. This study provides details about his life and the historical period.
In the three-functi on model of supervision administrati ve supervision means the promoti on and maintenance of good standards of work, the co-ordinati on of practi ce with policies of administrati on, and the assurance of an effi cient and smooth-running offi ce. Educati onal upervision means the individual educati onal development of each wor...ker with a view to recognising the usefulness of their work. Supporti ve supervision is directed at the maintenance of harmonious working relati onships. This task-focused approach fails to take account of the interacti on between these functi ons, or identi fy the role of the supervisor in facilitati ng a criti cal analysis of practi ce. It also frequently fails to put the dynamics of the supervisory process within the wider organizati onal or inter-agency context. The integrated 4x4x4 model provides a coherent, practi cal, and well-tested framework to integrate these diff erent but inter-related elements of supervision.
In my study I att empt to introduce the relati vely hidden tendency of modernity that makes the noti on of the producti vity of error possible. While the paradigm that demonizes error builds on the basically anthropomorphic concepti on of error, the idea of the fruitf ul mistake depends on the fi gurati vity of language. I examine the relevant...thoughts of Nietzsche, Friedrich Schlegel, tévedésFreud and Leo Popper in my text.
The answer to the questi on in the ti tle is specifi ed by the author leading the reader through historical instances, justi fying the logical conclusions. The exchange rate, the balance, the currency zone, the foreign exchange standards, and the crisis evolved appear among the infl uencing factors and outcomes of economic changes when applying... a monetary approach. Aft er drawing up some diff erent opti ons, the questi on has been left open, whether our ti me is
the beginning of a new economic era or not.
Since the change of régime, the Great Plain region has been in a disadvantageous situati on regarding business and economic opportuniti es compared to other regions in the country; the economic crisis has a more negati ve impact on this situati on. The economic crisis has a negati ve impact on the consumpti on of households and the operati on...of businesses, but the everday lives of those in specifi c regions are infl uenced by the disadvantages resulting from regional diff erences. The household and organizati onal behaviours are closely related, which can easily be traced in everyday shopping in the FMCG market.
It is important to raise this problem since we have no other products like the elder-berry where the Hungarian growth and harvest gives 20% of the world producti on. That is why it is very important how to handle this unique product. Our export positi ons are limited by the changing quality. We cannot allow some „dealers” to ruin the reputa...ti on of such a splendid product just because they would like to live with short term advantages. Unfortunately the industry had to suff er several negati ve infl uences during the last two years, partly because of the weather conditi ons, partly because of such short term thinking dealers. In most cases we do not have defences against the weather, but we can protect this product from the second danger in order to keep it alive.
There is an increased need for purposeful and concentrated changes at all areas of economical acti viti es, including environmental protecti on. Nowadays it is vital for the companies’ competi ti veness what steps they could do to decrease the eff ects of climate change. Several environmental burden index numbers are well known, most of them...are shown by their proporti on of the carbon footprint in food. By knowing the suitable data and by applying the right methodology, the amount of carbon-dioxide release and the release of other greenhouse gases can be measured. We introduce the way of measuring the products’ carbon footprint and present some case studies related to them. With their help we can analyze the steps that can be taken to decrease the environmental impact in manufacturing, producti on, packing, transportati on, waste management and the food products use at home. Informati on of
the carbon footprint of products would help environmental awareness during shopping; it could also support environmentally-friendly manufacturing and result in the increase of the competi ti veness of manufacturers and producers.
One of the most successful parts of Hungary’s tourism may be wellness tourism. According to the latest data of the Hungarian Central Stati sti cal Offi ce (KSH) the number of tourism nights in hotels has been 11,262 thousand in the fi rst two – thirds of this year. The main part of this number arises from wellness hotels in the country. The...refore it is essenti al to investi gate which factors can contribute to this phenomenon. In this arti cle it is showed that healthy eati ng habits and in lower proporti on animated sports play a greater role in wellness tourism in Hungary. Gastronomical experts predict a growing role of healthy eati ng habits. The increase in the consumpti on of healthy food and low alcoholic drinks can be expected. Consequently the growing consumpti on of white wine is probable as well. The demand for internati onal cuisine may increase. The importance of fresh ingredients can rise. These trends can infl uence people signifi cant especially through wellness hotels. Although nowadays this is not the case everywhere.
