Analysis of Disinfection Technologies that can Increase the Efficiency of Indoor Logistics Processes, which has been Reduced due to the COVID Pandemic
62-71Views:474As a result of the Coronavirus, both supply chain and internal logistics processes at factories have changed a lot. In many areas, the effectiveness of the logistics processes has declined because of the restrictions implemented against the virus. The study lists some adverse effects where logistics processes had to be modified due to the changing and protection measures against or negative effects of the virus. The authors also argue that these restrictions decreased the efficiency of logistics processes and workers' productivity. One option to increase the logistics sector's efficiency is to use air purification technologies, like the ones studied in this paper: UV-C, Bioxygen® or plasma-ion decontamination technologies. These disinfection processes can create a safe indoor environment. The authors analyse the examined technologies with SWOT analysis. The analysis results demonstrate which disinfection application is the most beneficial to help in improving indoor air quality for logistics processes.

Simulation modelling in the sizing of city logistics systems – a study for concentrated delivery points
1-11Views:301Nowadays, urban freight traffic is causing significant noise and air pollution, so it is in the focus of green logistics developments, both in technology and system organization. Based on experiences within city logistics, significant problems are caused by the so-called concentrated sets of delivery points, where there are several delivery points with heavy freight traffic in a relatively small area. Since the summer of 2015, we collected lots of data about stores of these delivery points to support the modelling and the simulation of the new green solutions for the examined city logistics systems. Based on our results we can say, there are significant savings in these systems, so it is worth to deal with developing new, gateway-concept-based and consolidation-based solutions.

Lean Concept Implementation: Waste Reduction on Road Transport in Apparel Industry
34-51Views:215Logistics costs have become a concern for the Indonesian government, and in 2024, they accounted for 14% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Transportation costs are one of the elements of logistics costs. This condition has compelled leaders and teams in the apparel industry to allocate resources efficiently, effectively, and productively, with minimal waste. Based on this reason, the organization sought to identify the root causes of waste and implement improvements in transportation. These wastes of road transportation were identified and reduced by DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) method and lean tools, including Value Stream Map (VSM), Lean Metrics, Five Whys (5Ws), Transportation Overall Vehicle Effectiveness (TOVE) – Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), transport software, and SmartSheet. Data collection and observations were conducted in 2024 and 2025, resulting in improvements across various aspects, including a 75.75% reduction in parking time, a 4.67% decrease in distance traveled, an 82.66% decrease in vehicle utilization, and a 16.66% reduction in transportation costs. The Lean concept remains an effective tool for reducing waste.

Sustainability in Urban Waste Management: The Efficiency of Electric Waste Transport Vehicles
1-18Views:486This study evaluates the long-term economic feasibility of electric waste collection vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable alternative to diesel-powered counterparts in urban municipal services. Using real operational data from a Hungarian waste management company, we developed a total cost of ownership (TCO) model spanning 10 years, which incorporates investment costs, energy consumption, maintenance, depreciation, and battery replacement. Our analysis reveals that although EVs require a significantly higher upfront investment (€350,000 vs. €183,200), their lower operational and maintenance costs result in a break-even point around year 8. When accounting for a €50,000 battery replacement in year 6, the total 10-year cost of the EV remains lower (€431,769 vs. €450,914) than the diesel vehicle, resulting in a net saving of €19,145. The study emphasizes the significance of local energy prices and service structures in assessing fleet electrification. While the findings are based on Hungarian data, the proposed methodology can be adapted internationally to support data-driven decision-making in sustainable waste logistics.

The Role of Logistics Management in Public Services – Research Plan
33-43Views:639Public services and logistics are generally treated as different fields, but the tools of logistics management with the help of the Unified Services Theory can be used for the benefit of the public services. The aim of this theoretical paper is to generally introduce my topic and relevance of the research on which my PhD thesis will be based in the future. The expectations in the advanced, globalized world are pushing governments to find new methods to fulfil the needs of the citizens while keeping up or even increase efficiency and effectiveness. I believe that from a certain viewpoint the public administration system can be considered as a large scale supply network, and I am particularly interested in how we could apply logistical methods in public services to increase efficiency and effectiveness while simultaneously increase customer satisfaction. In this particular paper I would like to present how I see the connections between the concept of New Public management and the Unified Services Theory. I would like to show the similarities between them and how they could complete each other in order to serve as a background for later logistics related approaches and researches within the domain of public services.

Flexibility Analysis Of Inventory Cost Model With Ergonomics
166-173Views:349The economic and environmental sustainability issues in supply chain management have integrated by many researchers in the past decades. The ergonomics as a social aspect of sustainability had received a little attention by researchers. Therefore, the aim of the paper is analyzing the flexibility of developed inventory cost model with relaxation allowance and endurance time as a social aspect of sustainability. The effects of distance, unit weight of item and total number of items on relaxation allowance, the total cost of logistics operation and the EOQ model were investigated. The analyzed mathematical model was a single operator-single material model which covered transportation of fixed amount of raw materials from storage plant to production plant by manual material handling with simple cart and picking, storing, pushing and pushing back with empty cart for manual handling of the products. The different parameter values applied for analysis such as total amount of handled items (Q) changes between 500 pcs to 2750 pcs, unit weight of item (w) changes between 0.1 kg to 1 kg, distance of movement by manual material handling for picking and storing motions (d1) changes between 2 m to 3 m and the distance between the storing equipment and the supermarket of the production line for pushing motion (d2) changes between 15 m to 20 m. The results of the analysis indicated that the longer the distance of movement for all motions leads to decrease in savings of the model compared to EOQ model. The increase in unit weight of item is increase the savings obtained from application of our model and decrease the optimal lot size. There was no specific change on savings or optimal lot size as the total amount of handled item is increase. The compared results indicated that an increase in d1 and d2 lead to an increase in optimal lot size and increase in total cost of the model. Consequently, the analysis has shown that a decrease in lot size would be the better way to improve both ergonomic conditions and total cost of production in any different parameter values. Finally, the analysis of the inventory model with ergonomics were proved that this model is suitable for different industrial practices.

Automation Capabilities for the Logistics Service of Jobshop Production System
210-221Views:655One of the most important subsystems of manufacturing is the logistics system for transporting materials between technological phase. It is integrated depending on the production structure. The special feature of highly flexible workshop system production is that the material handling system is typically separate and the movement needs occur independently of each other, so the flexibility of the material handling system is required to achieve the expected production goal. In practice, therefore, the organization and execution of material handling is to a considerable extent dependent on the human factor. The purpose of this research is to explore the potential for automation of material handling activities in this particular production environment.

Transaction Costs: A Conceptual Framework
131-139Views:1308Transaction Costs (TC) is a very important topic, especially in a changing work environment which has a large number of operational firms, and increasing business growth. The aim of this paper is to shed light on the transaction costs concept, and provide a conceptual framework to understand the meaning of transaction costs. Publications including articles and research papers have explained the notion of transaction costs and the theoretical issues related to them. The literature review reveals that, transaction costs are costs which arise because of the of a company‘s activities in the market , including (fees, commission, taxes) which are paid by the firm to provide a service or produce a good either to external parties or as internal costs. Therefore, according to the literature review. It emerges that firms must make a comparison between internal and external transaction costs and choose the lowest cost which enables them to increase profits. This means companies have to reduce transaction costs to the minimum level to achieve more profits and competitive advantage.

Sustainable and Competitive? The Dual-Role of Information Systems in Green Supply Chain Operations
1-15Views:92This is a conceptual theory-building paper that questions the notion of a "trade-off narrative" between sustainable supply chain management. It claims that advanced Information Systems (IS) play a crucial dual function in designing the co-construction of environmental and competitive value. The paper proposes a Dual-Role framework based on an abductive analysis of modern literature, mapping the synergistic impact pathways of these technologies. The framework proposes that the Internet of Things (IoT) allows data-driven closed-loop control, blockchain provides cryptographic trust, Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers predictive intelligence for systemic leanness, and cloud platforms offer orchestration and alignment. The framework results in a series of research propositions that can be tested and specify the likely conditions for this dual value creation. We argue that strategically located IS can transform sustainability from a constraint on operations to a parameter of the design for competitive advantage. This study offers a propositional theory for scholars to guide empirical research, as well as a principled rationale for managers to view digital investments as a foundation for planetary and business resilience.

Supplier Evaluation Schemes in Case of Different Research Frameworks
617-624Views:319Performance evaluation is not only important in employer and employee relationships, but also in partnerships between a supply chain’s members. In order to satisfy customers’ needs according to the 7 Rights of logistics, all members of the given chain have to perform properly. To ensure the best performance, supplier evaluation can act as a starting point. Besides continous feedback, supplier evaluation plays an important role in performance development of suppliers. The aim of our research is to develop and introduce innovative supplier evaluation models, which include the advantages of traditional and electronic supplier evaluation forms. In addition to this, these models are visualised, making it easier to understand expectations and information. In this study, the aim is to present two different models the PaTeNt©- SESC (Pató Tetrahedrons of interNational Theory - Supplier Evaluation of Supply Chain) and the Douple Evaluation Platform, based on previous research.

Examining the employees and sectors of the economy according to the digital competence in the EU memeber states
344-357Views:457In this study, the challenges of digital development and its sectoral effects were examined between 2015 and 2017 in the EU Member States, based on data of OECD, Eurostat, and the World Bank. The connection between the countries' digital development and sector dominance was analyzed. I found - in line with international research - that in countries that belong to the developed group, the high value-added service sector is dominant. The statistics of developing countries’ supported the assumption, that industry is the engine of the economy. The analysis of the underdeveloped countries revealed that agriculture and industry are the most important sectors compared to other countries. Measuring the demand of developed countries for ICT professionals, I examined the relationship of individuals with different digital competencies to one kind of self-education. In line with international research, my database showed that digitally unskilled people are the least likely to take advantage of online courses. As a continuation of the research, it would be worthwhile to carry out this study in other economic areas as well. Especially in areas where salaries for high-digital occupations do not differ significantly between countries in the region.

COVID-19 Pandemic Impact on Employees’ Physical Activity
72-84Views:1064Globalization and the recent explosive development of technology have significantly changed people’s lifestyles resulting in an increase in the number of people living a sedentary lifestyle. COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the situation and created an unprecedented situation in the world. In the present study, we investigate changes in the physical activity and sedentary behavior of adult workers caused by the coronavirus epidemic. In our online cross-sectional research, we used snowball methodology. The target group of the survey was adult workers. 108 people filled in the questionnaire, the majority (73.1%) are women, the average age is 37.18 years and most of them have higher degrees (Diploma: 74%, PhD: 14%). The present study revealed a decrease in physical activity and an increase in sedentary time for the employees in our study. Despite respondents detected a decrease in their physical activity, an increase was reported in the proportion of online training participants. The majority of respondents partially, or totally switched to work from home during the pandemic, which may further increase their sedentary lifestyle. We did not find significant differences among the domain of work and leisure time or occupational physical activity patterns. The workplace is a great opportunity for promoting physical activity and reducing sedentary time in the adult working population, therefore it would be important for organizations, decision-makers and health professionals to work on the design of strategies to these goals.

Security Oriented Process Management
344-364Views:532Abstract. Theoretical background of enterprise risk management can be considered as founded by the ISO 31000 standard family and the COSO recommendation. However, their application in a given company domain requires knowledge of the local environment, and professional experience. Nowadays risk management is still anchored to functional fields, or organisational units (logistics, finance, quality management, HR, IT, e.g.). According to the view of the authors, this approach could results in parallel, multiple regulations of risk management. This could be avoided by a holistic view, and a risk based analysis of company processes. Writing this study is aimed at three
major goals:
- providing an overview of the bases of process and risk management,
- proposing a professional idea to be used at risk management of processes (Is it possible to reduce business
risk by analysing availability of resources assigned to processes?),
- providing a review of standards and recommendations which can be used in process risk management. -

A Literature Review: Artificial Intelligence Impact on the Recruitment Process
108-119Views:23576This paper aim is to review the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Human Resources Management (HRM) recruitment processes. A systematic review was adopted in which academic papers, magazine articles as well as high rated websites with related fields were checked. The findings of this study should contribute to the general understanding of the impact of AI on the HRM recruitment process. It was impossible to track and cover all topics related to the subject. However, the research methodology used seems to be reasonable and acceptable as it covers a good number of articles which are related to the core subject area. The results and findings were almost clear that using AI is advantages in the area of recruitment as technology can serve best in this area. Moreover, time, efforts, and boring daily tasks are transformed to be computerized which makes a good space for humans to focus on more important subjects related to boosting performance and development. Acquiring automation and cognitive insights as well as cognitive engagement in the recruitment process would make it possible for systems to work similarly to the human brain in terms of data analysis and the ability to build an effective systematic engagement to process the data in an unbiased, efficient and fast way.

Examining Drone Logistics Solutions in Retail
48-61Views:400The possibilities of using drones in transportation will be determined by the capabilities of drone technology, legislation, various advocacy and trade unions, and the degree of general acceptance. Technology and infrastructure are given, customer habits and needs are favourable, and emissions generated by packets moving between two points are growing steadily. Despite these favourable conditions, the effects of drone use should be thoroughly reviewed. The environmental impacts of the project were analyzed by PEST analysis and the main influencing factors were studied using the Porter model. Concluding our results based on questionnaire surveys and feasibility examinations of fast food delivery, it can be said that a system based on drones can efficiently be operated and cost-effective using round trips, however, the legal issues and uncertainties that arise in the delivery of drone hippers remain a very significant hindering factor for a long time.

Examination of the Physical Activity of Amateur and Hobby E-sport Players
Views:694With the spread of computers and the Internet, e-sports became a fast and dynamic growing sector with a significant market and economic potential. Its importance is demonstrated by the fact that its growth is now outstripping some traditional sports or other industries. E-sports users are sedentary in front of a computer during both competition and training, so their health is determined by the amount of physical activity they do when they are not in front of a computer. The primary aim of this research is to investigate the physical activity of e-sports users at different levels. In addition to this, I considered it important to investigate what games the players I interviewed compete in, how much time they spend playing and how they improve their skills. I conducted an online questionnaire survey in the University Electronic Games (UEG) online tournaments organised by the University of Debrecen. The participants in the survey fully met my criteria, as most of them were amateur or hobby e-sports players, so I obtained relevant data from their answers. Based on the participants' responses, it can generally be said that they engage in health-enhancing physical activity. However, it should be remembered that not only the rise in popularity of e-sports, but also the increasing digitalisation of society is contributing to the rise in sedentary lifestyles. In the future, it would be important to change the way gamers exercise, which until now has been predominantly to develop their digital video game skills. Physical activity and other health-related behaviours need to be integrated into the training routines of gamers - e-sports players, so that playing sports could become a natural pastime alongside e-sports.
